Mr. Lynch looked thoughtful. “That was my original plan, but on second thought, it’s not too far from home.”

“It’s just a short walk from there.”

“Alright, then.” He got up to change his clothes.

“I’ll pack a couple of outfits for you.” Mrs. Lynch’s heart leaped with joy as she quickly got out of bed to sort through his clothes.

Then she handed him the suitcase. “Honey, I’ll drive you.”

“You should get some sleep. The driver can take me.”

Mrs. Lynch grew surprisingly coquettish. “No, I want to take you.”

Mr. Lynch was in a good mood, so he waved his hand dismissively. “Fine, take me then.”

And so, the couple left together.

“Dad, where are you going with that luggage?” Leon Lynch asked, holding a glass of warm milk as usual, ready to go upstairs.

“Your father is going away for a couple of days. I’m just seeing him off.”

He nodded, and the couple headed out the door.

Mrs. Lynch dropped Mr. Lynch off at the airport grand hotel and started driving back, but not before making a phone call home first.

“Leon, your father and I are staying out tonight. I’ll be home alone tomorrow morning.”

“Got it.”

After hanging up, Mrs. Lynch was absolutely ecstatic.

She drove, not towards the suburbs, but to a supermarket parking lot where she parked her car.

She called her young lover, got out, and went into the supermarket. She bought two bottles of dry red wine, two wine glasses, and some snacks before driving to the underground parking garage of a hotel.

She hadn’t been there long before her young lover arrived.

The two of them sat in the back seat and made out for a while.

“I was starting to think you were afraid of your son and were going to cut me off.”

Mrs. Lynch laughed. “Why would I be afraid of my son? That night, I was just worried he’d do something to seriously hurt you. He’s been behaving himself at home these past few days.”

The young man opened the red wine and poured two glasses. “Here, cheers.”

They finished the entire bottle of red wine, two glasses each.

After drinking, Mrs. Lynch’s face was flushed. Though in her fifties, she had maintained herself so well that she looked no different from an attractive woman in her forties.

“Auntie, are you still going to see me in the future?”

“What about you?” Mrs. Lynch retorted.

“My mom is pushing me to go on blind dates. I might get married soon. Besides, I’m already 28. I can’t put it off any longer. After all, my mom wants to have a grandchild.”

“Hudson,” Mrs. Lynch said seriously, “we’ve been seeing each other for years, and I’ve never been stingy with you when it comes to money. You’re not planning to cut ties with me just because you’re getting married, are you?”

Her young lover, Hudson, said, “That’s not what I was thinking. We’ve been together for a long time. I know how you treat me, and you know how I am with you. But I can’t stay unmarried forever, and it’s not like you’re going to divorce your husband. So, why don’t we just maintain our relationship like this? I’ll get married when I need to. What do you think?”

Although Mrs. Lynch was reluctant, she considered that this was her only option and said, “Fine, then. Do as you wish.”

Hudson gave her a kiss on the cheek. “Auntie, I love you.”

His sweet words made all of Mrs. Lynch’s displeasure vanish. She turned and hugged his young body, inhaling his pleasant scent. “I haven’t seen you in days. I’ve really missed you.”

He lifted Mrs. Lynch’s skirt. “Me too.”

The two of them began to kiss passionately in the car. The lights were off, plunging the interior into darkness, and everything unfolded naturally.

In the heat of their passion, Hudson picked up the empty red wine bottle and slowly used it as a toy. They pressed against each other, unwilling to stop for a long, long time.

While they were lost in their passion, Mr. Lynch, who had already checked into a room at the hotel, was waiting for Maeve Sutton.

The two of them were just as happy.

“Mr. Lynch, what if we get caught on our trip together?”

“We won’t. And even if we are, it doesn’t matter. You think my wife is some kind of pushover? It’s fine, trust me.”

Maeve Sutton nodded. They tumbled in the sheets again and again, until they were interrupted by a call on Maeve’s phone.

She looked at the caller ID on her phone, immediately shushed Mr. Lynch, and answered, “What is it?”

“Where are you?”

“I’m out.”

“Get back here now!” William Chapman’s furious voice made Maeve even more irritated. “I’m not coming back! All day long, you either yell at me or hit me. I just want to go for a walk by myself to clear my head, and you have to control that too?!”

“Maeve Sutton, I’ll say this one last time. Get your ass back here right now, or I’ll go and kill your entire family.”

With that, he hung up.

Maeve Sutton looked at Mr. Lynch, momentarily at a loss for what to do.

“Go back. Go home and talk to him properly.”

Maeve Sutton nodded. As she got dressed, she said, “This life is so frustrating. I want to divorce him.”

Mr. Lynch’s eyes lit up. “Divorce won’t be easy, but if it’s what you want, I’ll help you get free.”

Maeve Sutton hugged him again. “I hope you’ll help me.”

“I will help you.”

Maeve Sutton let him go, reluctant to leave. She knew perfectly well that when she got home, she would be either yelled at or beaten.

Mr. Lynch kissed her red lips, and the two of them lingered, whispering intimately for a while longer before she finally left.

Back home, Maeve had just stepped into the bedroom when William Chapman started yelling, “Were you out meeting your lover in the middle of the night?”

Maeve replied calmly, “Just because you do it doesn’t mean you can accuse me.”

“Then what were you doing?”

“Just went for a walk.”

“Just went for a walk?”

“That’s right.” Maeve got into bed, pulled the covers over herself, and lay down with her back to him.

William Chapman got on the bed, yanked the covers off, and straddled her. He looked down at her domineeringly. “I haven’t been home lately. Were you getting desperate, you little slut?”

“No.”

“I know you were.” He proceeded to strip off his own clothes, then ripped Maeve’s off in a few swift motions.

Throughout the night, he forced her into an endless variety of positions until Maeve couldn’t take it anymore and finally begged for mercy before he let her go.

‘I was completely unwilling.’ His rough treatment made her feel like an animal.

“William, I’m going out of town for a bit tomorrow.”

“You’re not allowed.”

“I want to go.”

“If you dare go, I’ll break your legs when you get back.”

She didn’t say another word, but thought, ‘I’ll go even if you break my legs.’

In the middle of the night, while William Chapman was asleep, Maeve Sutton secretly slipped out of the Chapman family home.

She went to the hotel. She was so overwhelmed from the torment that Mr. Lynch just held her as she fell asleep, and they stayed that way until dawn.

The two of them got up and boarded the plane together.

When Mrs. Lynch returned in the morning, Leon Lynch and Holly Wood were eating breakfast.

“I’m back.”

“Did Dad get on his flight?”

Mrs. Lynch nodded. “He was just boarding when I left.”

Leon Lynch picked up his phone and checked the time. “Mom, it’s 7:10 now. Dad’s flight took off at six.”

Mrs. Lynch froze for a moment, then said, “Well, that’s because we woke up late, so he took a later flight.”
