Chapter 1478 - 1471: The Will
"Cousin, you can’t just say whatever you want, unlike eating."
Joseph Lancaster propped himself up slightly on the sofa armrests, his face gentle, showing no hint of anger or guilt.
"Everything requires evidence. Even if I had something untoward with Sister-in-law, we wouldn’t act inappropriately in public, right?"
"Exactly!" Aurora Lancaster interjected unhappily, "If Second Brother and Sister-in-law had something shameful going on, they’d avoid suspicion, not have dinner at her place every day!"
"Ha!" With a cold laugh, Daemon Lancaster turned to Avery Stuart, who had been ignored and was kneeling in front of Violet Zimmerman, with a determined look.
"Sister Xu, tell us what you witnessed that day once more. Don’t worry, with so many people here for you, you don’t need to be afraid."
Violet Zimmerman also turned to look at the maid in front of her.
"Yes, Sister Xu, whatever you saw, just speak it out plainly!"
Avery Stuart, a maid who hadn’t seen much of the world, was eager to extricate herself from the situation upon hearing Violet’s words.
"Madam, don’t listen to the headman’s nonsense, I saw nothing, really. You and the Second Master have always been innocent, it’s the headman who told me to falsely accuse you!"
No one, not even Joseph Lancaster and Violet Zimmerman, anticipated Avery’s sudden betrayal.
In fact, a strategy had been devised. Avery was just a maid, and in doing such disreputable things, everyone would judge her character accordingly.
As long as the two of them staunchly denied it, no one would believe whatever she said.
"You!" Furious, Daemon Lancaster pointed a finger at Avery, collapsing back into the sofa.
Michael Lancaster frowned again. Anyone with a brain could see Violet had seized Avery’s fear of her husband discovering she flirted with her employer.
Sadly, those in a daze failed to spot this detail.
Gabriel Lancaster, visibly caught off guard by Avery’s denial, couldn’t remain silent and immediately slammed the coffee table, discontentedly questioning Daemon.
"Big Brother, that’s not what you said back then!"
"Gabriel," Valeria Howard gently tugged his sleeve, whispering a reminder. Whatever happened, he was still closer to Daemon Lancaster than Joseph.
The man, addled as he was, paid no heed, still fiercely accusing with his upward slanted eyes.
"You said Sister Xu caught Violet and Joseph in intimate chaos on the sofa!
Big Brother, we’re blood brothers. You can’t sell out your own sibling just for the family headship!"
Daemon Lancaster...
Truly, misfortune had struck; each one felt as useless as a hog-tied ally.
In the middle of the hall, Maximilian Lancaster, seeing that the situation was irrevocable, turned his face away in disgust, then sighed and turned back.
"Auntie, Gabriel is seriously injured. Please allow me to take him to the hospital."
Violet Zimmerman finally glanced over, her expression and tone icy cold, "Go."
"Thank you, Auntie." Maximilian slightly nodded his head, then, along with Richard Lancaster, helped Gabriel Lancaster towards the door.
With Daemon Lancaster silent, Joseph Lancaster also sighed, holding onto the sofa armrests to get up.
"There are things I hadn’t intended to mention again, but since cousin Daemon already harbors ill intentions toward the Lancaster Family, I’ll read out the will my elder brother left me with."
