Chapter 1512 - 1504: As Far as the Eye Can See, Eternity Awaits (Part 25)
"What do you mean possible? Ah, it must be!" Eva Hayes put down her chopsticks and stood up.
"You really are something. How could you not know if your own wife is pregnant? I’ll take Victoria to the hospital for a check-up later."
Eva grumbled as she walked out, and shortly after, she came back supporting her daughter-in-law Victoria Thornton with a proud smile and deliberately sighed, saying,
"Ah, I must say our Victoria is great, two kids in three years, unlike some people, who are like hens that can’t lay eggs!"
It wasn’t that Violet Zimmerman was paranoid; Eva’s remarks were clearly directed at her. Violet gripped her chopsticks tightly, burying her head in discomfort.
Daxton Lancaster continued to eat, his eyes downcast, chew patterns visible on his handsome face.
Lorelei Howard glared at Eva displeased, wanting to retort but couldn’t find the words.
If it weren’t for Eva, she wouldn’t feel so anxious. As someone also becoming a mother-in-law, someone else’s daughter-in-law is pregnant again, yet her own son’s wife shows no sign.
Although she hadn’t been married long, just over a month, when Victoria married in she was pregnant within a month.
"Second son, tell your wife to watch her mouth. Who are you calling a hen that can’t lay eggs?"
The patriarch wasn’t pleased and reprimanded, making Eva fall silent.
Atlas Lancaster glared at his wife, annoyed. Although he felt proud, he deliberately scolded with a stern face,
"You’re a woman, what’s all this nonsense all day? Out of everyone here, only Daxton and Joseph have wives; what if your words upset Daxton’s wife!"
Just as Atlas finished scolding, with a bang, Daxton Lancaster slammed his chopsticks on the table, looking at Atlas with a half-smile, and said,
"Uncle, why should Violet feel upset?"
Daxton pulled Violet Zimmerman’s arm, bringing her closer, and placed his other hand on her stomach.
In an era when people didn’t even dare to hold hands while dating, Daxton’s actions were rather bold, especially in front of elders and siblings.
Father Arthur Saunders coughed awkwardly, while mother Lorelei Howard pretended to scratch her eyebrow to divert her gaze. Eva Hayes scoffed, and the younger siblings at the table blushed.
Daxton continued to gently stroke Violet’s stomach and said, "Perhaps there’s already something in Violet’s belly."
Violet Zimmerman blushed, not out of guilt, but due to Daxton’s affectionate gesture, bowing her head, not daring to look at anyone.
Helping Victoria sit back down, Eva Hayes sneered, "Oh, you think it’s planting crops? How can you be pregnant in just a month?"
Before Daxton could say anything, Joseph Lancaster stood up behind him, displeased.
"Aunt Eva! How do you know my sister-in-law isn’t pregnant? You’re not her!"
"Children shouldn’t interrupt when adults are talking!" Eva shot Joseph an unhappy glance.
Joseph retorted unreservedly, "I’m speaking the truth. The truth respects no age!"
"You!" Eva was at a loss for words, suddenly turning to the patriarch.
"Dad, you saw it. According to the Lancaster Family’s rules, a junior being disrespectful to an elder must be punished by family rules!"
"Aunt Eva, what if the elder was in the wrong first?" Before the patriarch could speak, Daxton interjected calmly, the slim man had a smile in his eyes, yet it sent a chill down one’s spine.
