Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride

The Lancaster Family is a large family with many siblings, but Violet Zimmerman knows that her husband, Daxton Lancaster, has only one pair of full siblings; the rest are cousins.

To maintain a good relationship with her brother-in-law, Violet Zimmerman proactively chats with him about family matters.

"Your name is Joseph Lancaster?"

A young man in his early twenties appears shy in front of his sister-in-law.

With his hands properly resting on his knees, he turns his face to Violet Zimmerman and smiles, "Yes, sister-in-law."

"How old are you?"

Because he is her own brother-in-law, Violet is fond of him, and since she doesn’t have a brother herself, she feels particularly affectionate towards him.

"Sister-in-law, I just turned twenty-one."

It’s apparent that Joseph Lancaster respects his elder sister-in-law very much, always addressing her as "sister-in-law" before speaking.

Violet Zimmerman smiles and continues to ask, "Are you still in school?"

"Yes, sister-in-law, I’m in my third year of college. Father said that by next summer, he’ll start a company and let me intern there."

"Joseph really has ambition."

Violet, treating him as affectionately as she would her own younger brother, lovingly adjusts Joseph’s hair. The young man in his early twenties hasn’t had a girlfriend yet, though he has many admirers at the university.

For Joseph, this gesture is his first "intimate" contact with a woman, making his cheeks flush as he shyly lowers his phoenix eyes, "Thank you for the compliment, sister-in-law."

"I wasn’t complimenting you; I was telling the truth. I’m two years older than you, and at the company, father just has me print documents and serve coffee. After working for two years, he hasn’t taken me out for a single business meeting!"

Speaking of work, Violet’s tone carries a touch of resentment. Her father is traditionally biased towards sons, with two brothers holding key positions at the company, leaving her, with the title of secretary, idle.

"Why hasn’t sister-in-law been involved in any partnerships?"

Joseph asks, puzzled. Violet sighs with a hint of resentment, saying, "Father says no matter how capable a woman is at work, it’s better to marry well. Marrying a good man means you won’t have to do anything and can still enjoy life."

Seeing Violet’s disappointment, the young man, barely in his twenties, promises, "Sister-in-law, when I graduate, I’ll teach you business!"

"Really?"

Violet’s eyes glisten with a hint of joy.

The young man nods earnestly.

"Yes, Joseph keeps his promises!"

"Thank you, little brother-in-law!"

Violet ruffles Joseph’s hair again. Although only two years older, it was a time when "elder sister-in-law like a mother" was the norm, and her affection was as pure as that of an elder to a child.

"Sister-in-law, we’re family. No need to be formal."

The young man shyly smiles, feeling glad for his eldest brother for marrying such a wonderful woman.

"Joseph, do you have a girlfriend?"

Her brother-in-law has delicate features, quite similar to her husband, Daxton Lancaster, with even fairer skin, resembling a refined scholar. Such a boy is likely to have many admirers.

Joseph smiles even more bashfully, shyly lowering his phoenix eyes, and says.

"Sister-in-law, our father is strict. The Lancaster children’s marriages are decided by the Family Head, so I haven’t had a girlfriend."

Violet finds him so endearing, and since her husband is the current Family Head, she says with generosity, "Don’t worry, Joseph. When you meet a girl you like, I’ll put in a good word with your brother for you."

"Thank you, sister-in-law." Joseph politely expresses his gratitude.

The sister-in-law and brother-in-law chat along the way, and time flies by as the car unknowingly arrives at the Lancaster’s old estate.
