"Daxton, do you even know what you’re saying?" Bodhi Lancaster seriously reminded.

Daxton Lancaster let his long legs down and rested his elbows on his knees, looking at his parents across from him with indifference.

"I’m just stating a fact. When you’re living day-to-day, doesn’t every family have a foolish relative? Violet’s cousin may have gone too far, but she’s still Violet’s family.

Mom, if your family came to visit and were disliked by Grandpa and Grandma, how would you feel?"

"Our Howard Family doesn’t have such foolish relatives!" Lorelei Howard rebuked unhappily.

At this moment, Violet Zimmerman was unsure whether to thank Daxton Lancaster or blame him.

In her heart, she hoped her cousin Lucy Zimmerman would leave soon, but it made her uncomfortable when her in-laws insisted on driving her away.

"Dad, Mom, Violet is my wife, her relatives are my relatives, and even if I don’t like them, I have to accommodate them for Violet’s sake."

Violet Zimmerman turned to look at Daxton Lancaster, pressing her lips tightly. She hadn’t expected that the man who was arguing with her in their room earlier would actually defend her in front of her in-laws.

"Daxton, since you think this way, we have nothing left to say. But you need to keep an eye on your good relative and prevent her from causing trouble. You saw what happened earlier; if it wasn’t for her, we wouldn’t have fallen out with the second branch.

Your grandfather is old and longs for the family to be harmonious. Although we’ve had minor conflicts with the second branch over the years, it was never as serious as this morning."

Upon saying this, Bodhi Lancaster glanced at Violet Zimmerman, as if blaming her for driving the second branch away, before continuing, "Violet, if your cousin harasses Joseph, don’t blame me and your mother for being unsympathetic!"

"Dad, I’ll keep an eye on her." Violet Zimmerman lowered her head.

When she returned from her in-laws’ room, Lucy Zimmerman was still on the living room sofa watching TV, sitting with her legs crossed. She enthusiastically greeted them.

"Sis, brother-in-law, you’re back!"

"Lucy, come upstairs with me, I have something to say to you."

Violet Zimmerman headed straight to the staircase, her expression was not pleasant.

Lucy Zimmerman slipped on her slippers and softly asked Daxton Lancaster behind her, "Brother-in-law, what’s up with sis?"

Daxton Lancaster chuckled lightly, "Ask your sister yourself."

"Stingy!" Lucy Zimmerman nonsensically remarked, and ran up the stairs noisily in her slippers.

"Lucy, I need to remind you of something, Joseph is not like those ordinary men outside. He won’t be interested in you, and my in-laws won’t agree either. If you want to stay here for a few days, behave and don’t cause trouble."

"Sis, how can you belittle your own sister like that?"

Hardly had Violet Zimmerman finished speaking when Lucy Zimmerman became unhappy, wrinkling her thick brows and curling her big lips.

"How do you know Joseph won’t be interested in me? Did he say something to you?"

"No, Joseph didn’t say anything, but it’s impossible between you two." Violet Zimmerman said sternly.

Lucy Zimmerman became even more displeased, flipping her sleeve and sitting down on the bed.

"Humph! Joseph didn’t say anything, yet you talk like this. It sounds like you fancy him!"

"What nonsense are you speaking!"

Violet Zimmerman raised her voice harshly, feeling agitated as if someone had struck a nerve, her tone was impatient.

"Lucy, I tell you, don’t set your sights on Joseph; a cultured man like Joseph won’t be interested in you!"

Throwing down that statement, Violet Zimmerman stormed out of the guest room, unwilling to engage with such a tactless relative.

"Humph! You’re disrespectful, saying Joseph wouldn’t be interested in me as if he would be interested in you!"

Violet Zimmerman heard her cousin’s complaint and frowned irritably. When she looked up, she saw Daxton Lancaster standing in the hallway, hands tucked into his pants pockets.

"Daxton, I..."

For some reason, seeing Daxton Lancaster’s solemn expression made Violet Zimmerman feel inexplicably guilty, worried he’d overheard her cousin’s grumble.

"It’s okay, you go and rest. I’ll have a talk with Lucy." Daxton Lancaster brushed past Violet Zimmerman and walked into the guest room.

Violet Zimmerman hesitated for a moment, then opened the door to her own room and went inside.

Next door, Lucy Zimmerman’s enthusiastic voice rang out, "Brother-in-law, you’re here?"

Violet Zimmerman walked over to the cradle and gently rocked it. Inside, the little one was sleeping soundly.

Violet Zimmerman lay on the bed; half an hour passed and Daxton Lancaster hadn’t returned. Next door, the two didn’t know what they were chatting about; every so often, Lucy’s laughter reverberated back.
