Chapter 1485 - 1478: If You Want Me to Call You "Dad," Then Pull Through
Evander Lancaster never expected the "timing" he mentioned would come so quickly.
The hospital corridor was crowded with half of the Lancaster Family.
Violet Zimmerman sat on a rest chair, her expression vacant, with Robert Lancaster and his wife Mina Drake by her side. Michael Lancaster’s family of three was also present, along with Aunt Aurora Lancaster, her husband, and their two children.
When Sophia Hamilton arrived at the hospital, this was the scene she was confronted with; everyone wore a solemn expression.
Uncle Joseph Lancaster was seriously injured. As he and Violet Zimmerman got out of the car and walked towards the company’s entrance, Dominic Quinn suddenly appeared from somewhere, wielding a watermelon knife, rushing at Violet Zimmerman.
By the time Joseph Lancaster reacted, it was too late to pull her away. Faced with danger, the man instinctively shielded the woman he cared about.
The watermelon knife, over twenty centimeters long, plunged entirely into Joseph Lancaster’s body. Dominic Quinn was apprehended on the spot by the company’s security, and Joseph Lancaster was rushed to the hospital.
Dominic Quinn’s company was acquired by Nathan Moore, and at the shareholders’ meeting, he was dismissed from his position as the president. Now, he was merely an ordinary shareholder, receiving only annual dividends.
Overnight, the company was gone, and Dominic Quinn blamed it all on Violet Zimmerman...
Sophia Hamilton nodded to the Lancaster family’s relatives as a greeting and quickly approached Mina Drake, asking in a low voice, "Sister-in-law, how is Uncle? Is his injury serious?"
Violet Zimmerman stared blankly ahead, not responding.
Mina Drake glanced towards the surgery room, "It’s been two hours, and still no news."
"Where’s Evander?" Sophia Hamilton also looked towards the door of the surgery room. If Evander Lancaster were here, there wouldn’t be so much anxiety.
"He’s inside."
After the incident, the driver had rushed Joseph Lancaster to Evander Lancaster’s hospital, then notified the family members.
Sophia Hamilton exhaled and found a rest bench to sit on.
Another hour passed, yet the light above the surgery room door was still on. Despite it being a surgical department, Evander Lancaster stayed inside the entire time.
Joseph Lancaster’s injuries were severe; a knife over twenty centimeters penetrated his abdomen, damaging almost all the internal organs in the abdominal cavity. Although he was brought to the hospital in time, he suffered excessive blood loss, and his age was against him. During the over three-hour surgery, the chief surgeon issued a critical condition notice, but Evander Lancaster decided not to inform his mother.
As his biological son, he didn’t want to cause his mother any further worry.
Because he knew, his father would pull through, as he had never called him "Dad," and his son had never called him "Grandpa!"
Standing at the operating table, Evander Lancaster looked at the unconscious man, whose features resembled his own, and with his mask-covered handsome face, he leaned close to Joseph Lancaster’s ear.
Evander Lancaster said, "If you want me to call you Dad, then fight through this!"
The surgery continued, and in the hospital corridor, everyone wore a grim expression. Five hours, everyone knew what it meant in their hearts.
At first, Violet Zimmerman appeared numb, but eventually, tears began to flow uncontrollably.
With his aunt and uncle present, Robert Lancaster didn’t want them to sense anything amiss, so he helped his mother to Evander Lancaster’s resting room.
As a daughter-in-law, even though she was dissatisfied with her mother-in-law, seeing her incredibly distressed, Sophia Hamilton softened, and along with Robert Lancaster and his wife, helped Violet Zimmerman into the elevator.
In the elevator, Violet Zimmerman kept murmuring, "Joseph, if you go, I won’t live either..."
If Sophia Hamilton had suspicions before, Violet Zimmerman’s distraught demeanor confirmed the unusual relationship between the two.
An accident befalls the uncle, yet the sister-in-law says she wants to go with him. This should be lines exchanged between spouses, and Sophia Hamilton was full of doubts, waiting for Evander Lancaster to unravel them in the future.
Almost as the elevator doors closed, the light above the surgery room door went out. The door opened, and a weary Evander Lancaster appeared in the family’s view.
