Chapter 1649 - 1630: Where the Eyes Fall, Forever Remains—Wanting Her to Feel It Too
Seeing Violet Zimmerman sitting on the bed breastfeeding the child, Eleanor Duncan went over, "Come on, Violet, Robert eats on this side, and our little one eats on that side, it’s perfect, not tipping."
"Eleanor, why are you joining in the fun! This is Violet coming back, when she wasn’t here, weren’t you breastfeeding the child?" As the saying goes, "once removed, twice neglected," even though the other child was her grandson too, Aria Williams still prioritized her daughter in her heart.
"Mom, you said Violet is back, can’t she just give some milk to the child, it’s not like she’ll lose a piece of flesh. She just ate two big bowls of rice, surely she can squeeze out a bit of milk for our little one!"
Eleanor Duncan complained unhappily, and Violet Zimmerman let out a silent sigh, lifting the other side of her blouse.
"Sister-in-law, why don’t you hold the little one over here."
At that moment, Violet Zimmerman profoundly felt the meaning of "a married daughter is like spilled water," as her husband Daxton Lancaster brought a lot of business to her family, and yet, after just eating two bowls of rice, her sister-in-law still had to fuss.
Violet Zimmerman sat on the bed, breastfeeding the two children, while in the northern room, Natalia Zabinski was whispering into her husband’s ear.
"...Gideon Zimmerman, I’m telling you, be prepared, Violet came back alone, who knows what’s going on!"
On the other end of the phone, Gideon Zimmerman’s impatient voice came through, "Whatever’s going on, it can wait until I get back, I’m busy now!"
Watching her mother hang up the phone, three-year-old Matthew Zimmerman reached out his little hand, grabbed the phone, and mimicked his mother, pretending to talk on the phone.
Humph!
Natalia Zabinski leaned back in the wicker chair, with her hands on her hips, glaring ahead, her eyes darting around, calculating something unknown.
Her daughter returned to her parents’ home, and when Dylan Zimmerman came home from work, he brought back a lot of delicious food.
Pork belly, smoked chicken, and some vegetables.
The evening meal was sumptuous, with braised pork, smoked chicken, and Aria Williams also instructed the kitchen to fry tofu balls.
The whole family of nearly ten people gathered around the dining table, and before everyone had taken their chopsticks, Eleanor Duncan reached out and pinched a chicken leg for her son.
"Son, didn’t you cry for smoked chicken a few days ago!"
Natalia Zabinski, not to be outdone, pinched another one for her son, "Matthew, here, eat more and grow strong."
Dylan Zimmerman and Aria Williams displeasedly glanced at their two daughters-in-law; the grandchildren were young, and it was hard to say anything.
Aria Williams reached out and pinched a chicken wing, but before she could pass it to Violet Zimmerman, Eleanor Duncan snatched it away.
"Mom knows me, knows I love chicken wings."
Aria Williams...
Inside her heart, she knew her daughter-in-law was being deliberate, and she didn’t serve smoked chicken to her daughter, picking up chopsticks instead, unhappily saying, "Let’s eat."
"Gideon, here’s the chicken breast, isn’t that your favorite?"
Natalia Zabinski tore a large piece of smoked chicken into her husband’s bowl, Gideon Zimmerman glanced up at her, said nothing, and picked up that piece of smoked chicken to give to his sister Violet Zimmerman.
"Violet, eat more, the child is young, needs breastfeeding."
Given the behavior of her two sisters-in-law, Violet Zimmerman no longer had an appetite, picking up that piece of meat again and preparing to return it to her second brother.
"Second brother, you eat it, sister-in-law gave it to you."
"You eat it, I don’t like it." Gideon Zimmerman just started to decline, and that piece of chicken was snatched away by Eleanor Duncan.
"We’re all family, what’s the point of refusing, nobody eats, I’ll eat!"
"Eleanor!" Knox Zimmerman couldn’t hold back his face anymore, his wife behaving like a hungry wolf, their Zimmerman Family might not be as wealthy as the Lancaster Family, but their food wasn’t lacking.
"What!" Eleanor Duncan turned her head, glaring at her husband unhappily, while she had been devouring a chicken wing ravenously, leaving greasy marks on her mouth.
"Give the meat to Violet, she still needs to breastfeed Robert!" Knox Zimmerman reproached in a deep voice.
Eleanor Duncan hesitated for a moment, then suddenly tossed that piece of meat onto the dining table, looking at Knox Zimmerman with grievance and saying, "Knox Zimmerman, you’re so biased! Violet needs to breastfeed Robert and needs to eat well, but your son also needs milk! I’m your wife! The little one is your own son!"
"Dad, Mom, brother, sister-in-law, you eat first, I’m going to breastfeed Robert." Violet Zimmerman set down the chopsticks she had just picked up, stood up, and silently walked towards the inner room.
"You ungrateful woman, you just need some discipline!" Knox Zimmerman lowered his voice, gritting his teeth.
"Knox Zimmerman! You bastard! Just over a piece of chicken, you actually want to hit your wife! This life is impossible to live, boo hoo..." Eleanor Duncan slapped her thigh and began to wail.
In the afternoon, the two sister-in-laws had discussed it, after Natalia Zabinski called her husband, she went to find Eleanor Duncan. Eleanor Duncan was simple-minded, so she was used by Natalia as a tool.
The purpose of the two sisters-in-law was to prevent Violet Zimmerman from staying at her parents’ home. If Violet Zimmerman had a dispute with Daxton Lancaster, they were worried it would affect the family business, so they wanted to use this method to drive her away.
Beside them, five-year-old Winston Zimmerman saw his mother crying and also opened his mouth wide, starting to cry along.
Knox Zimmerman gritted his teeth, "Eleanor Duncan, have you no conscience! Ever since Violet married Daxton, how many benefits has she brought to our family! She just returned home for a day, and you’re like this, are you even human!"
"You also know our Zimmerman family business is now supported by Daxton!" Eleanor Duncan raised her voice and shouted, "Since you know, then why does Violet still have a falling out with Daxton! She wasn’t satisfied with Lucy and just kicked her out. What does secretly returning home mean? Is she considering her parents, us, or the Zimmerman family of more than ten people!"
"Knox, take your wife back to the room!" Dylan Zimmerman slammed his chopsticks onto the dining table.
"Dad, don’t be angry, my sister-in-law is doing it for our Zimmerman family." Natalia Zabinski persuaded with a good temper.
"Sister-in-law’s words do have a point. In family life, there’s no way the tongue doesn’t touch the teeth, and our Violet just threw a tantrum and ran back home because Daxton took Lucy in.
Dad, Mom, if I and my sister-in-law were a little unhappy and returned home with the child, what would you think, what would my brother and Gideon think?"
"You all stop arguing, I’ll go back, I’ll go back right away." Violet Zimmerman stood at the doorway, holding the child, her eyes reddened.
