Chapter 1454 - 1448: That Woman Has Unspeakable Secrets
It turns out Juliana Lancaster’s worries were entirely justified because there’s always someone who doesn’t want to live peacefully.
At the Lancaster Family’s old residence, the home of the eldest brother Daemon Lancaster, his younger brothers Michael Lancaster and Gabriel Lancaster were invited by Daemon for a meal.
The three brothers sat at the dining table as Daemon Lancaster took a sip of Maotai, placed the cup on the table, and nonchalantly said while picking up dishes.
"Second and Third, if one day I fall out with the legitimate wife, which side will you stand on?"
Michael Lancaster paused with his hand on the cup, looked up with a serious expression, "Big brother, what do you mean?"
Daemon Lancaster put down his chopsticks, looked down at the cup he was holding, and said with a smirk, "What do I mean? The Lancaster Family is big and prosperous, yet we don’t even have a Family Head now. If it hadn’t been for grandfather’s stubbornness to not change the family rules, the position of Family Head would have been mine long ago!"
By the end, Daemon Lancaster looked indignant; back then, because his father argued for him to become Family Head, his short-lived brother bore a grudge and almost broke Daemon’s leg on purpose.
Though he could walk, he still needed a cane when the weather changed.
"Big brother, are you suggesting..."
Michael Lancaster spoke with mystery, his eyes shining upon hearing that his eldest brother wanted to contend for the position of Family Head.
"Are you still thinking about becoming Family Head?"
"Why? Do you think I’m not capable?" Daemon Lancaster raised his gaze, his square face showing authority and determination.
"No, big brother, that’s not what I mean."
Seeing Daemon somewhat angry, Michael hurriedly explained, "I just feel that our Lancaster Family nowadays is no different from ordinary families; each family lives its own life. What’s the use of that nominal title?"
As Michael finished speaking, Gabriel who hadn’t participated yet chimed in, "Big brother, Third is right; the Lancaster Family today isn’t like the old days. Being Family Head is just a nominal title."
With a loud bang, Daemon Lancaster slammed the cup on the table, his eyes narrowing as he said unwillingly.
"Nominal or not, I will fight for it! The position of Family Head should have been mine originally. If I become the Lancaster Family’s Family Head, the first thing I’ll do is kick that bitch out!"
Gabriel Lancaster looked at him blandly, saying nothing.
Michael Lancaster leaned in and tentatively asked, "Big brother, the bitch you’re referring to isn’t..."
"I’m talking about Violet Zimmerman!" Before Michael could finish, Daemon Lancaster unceremoniously mentioned the family’s grandmother, Violet Zimmerman’s name.
Gabriel Lancaster subtly frowned but said nothing, picking up bamboo shoots with his chopsticks and chewing slowly, seemingly disinclined to engage.
Michael Lancaster froze for a moment, instinctively looking around.
"What are you looking for? In our own house, there are no spies for that woman," Daemon Lancaster grumbled unhappily, picking up chopsticks to grab a peanut and tossing it into his mouth.
Michael Lancaster withdrew his gaze, acting sneakily, asking quietly, "But big brother, although Violet Zimmerman isn’t very likable, her personal life seems decent, at least she hasn’t been seen looking for a man since the Family Head passed away years ago."
"Humph!" With a cold laugh, Daemon Lancaster looked at Michael with eyes full of mockery, throwing another peanut into his mouth, and said leisurely, "That’s because you don’t know the truth. If you knew, you wouldn’t say that."
"Big brother, do you mean... that woman has some unspeakable secrets?"
