Chapter 1160 - 1161: Missing You
"Grandma!"
Before Sean Lockwood could answer, Zoe Quinn was already getting anxious.
She had followed along to attend the Morgan Family’s banquet just so she could cozy up to Old Mrs. Lockwood, then wait for the banquet to end and go back to the Lockwood Family home with her.
Earlier, when Sean suggested taking her back to the Lockwood Family, Old Mrs. Lockwood hadn’t objected.
So what was going on now? Was it because she’d said something bad about Anna Morgan and upset the old lady?
Anna wasn’t anyone to her anyway! This old woman really couldn’t tell who was closer or farther, why was she protecting Anna so much?
"You two can go."
Old Mrs. Lockwood said coldly. She got into the car and ignored Sean and Zoe.
Sean wasn’t as reckless as he used to be. After he married Zoe, he was kicked out of the Lockwood Family, and later Felix Lockwood caused trouble and was kicked out too.
At first, he’d been very proud, refusing to go back.
As time went on, he came to understand how fickle people were, and realized that without the Lockwood Family he was nothing. Slowly, he learned to bow his head.
He wanted to fight for himself, but seeing Old Mrs. Lockwood’s icy face, and with Carter Lockwood, that living Buddha, still there, he didn’t dare say anything. He could only stand off to the side and watch Old Mrs. Lockwood and Carter drive away.
"Sean Lockwood."
As the Lockwood Family’s car pulled away, Zoe snapped at Sean irritably, "How can you be so useless!"
He’d said he would take her back to the Lockwood Family.
And now he still hadn’t delivered.
After cursing Sean out, Zoe stormed off. Sean watched her quickly retreating figure and didn’t leave right away. In his mind, Anna’s attitude toward him replayed itself.
Just now, he’d been standing right in front of Anna, and Anna hadn’t even spared him a single glance.
He had to admit, Anna really had no feelings for him.
After seeing Mrs. Monroe to the hotel, Anna told her to rest well.
Mrs. Monroe nodded. She was very moved by what had happened today. Looking at her daughter, she said, "Without realizing it, you’ve grown up, Anna."
Under her indulgence, Anna had always been willful.
Previously, when she found out Miles Morgan was getting divorced, Anna had been angry and scared, and she’d tried to avoid it.
She’d never stood up like she did today to confront Miles together.
"Mm-hmm." Anna nodded.
She actually hadn’t grown up—it was just that she’d been lucky enough to meet Carter.
It was Carter who stood behind her, and Carter who arranged everything.
"Mom, I’m going to head back first."
Thinking of Carter made Anna miss him.
She wanted to hurry back and see him.
"Alright!"
After seeing Anna off, Mrs. Monroe took a shower and really did go to bed quickly.
It was the earliest, and the soundest, sleep she’d had in the past two months.
Anna went downstairs. She hadn’t planned on driving back herself, so as soon as she got into the elevator she called Carter.
"Hubby, I want you to come pick me up."
Anna said it very directly. It hadn’t even been that long since she’d last hugged and kissed him, yet she already wanted to stay in his arms.
Had she always been this clingy with Carter?
"Okay."
Carter answered on the other end.
Anna quickly reached the hotel entrance, thinking she’d have to wait for Carter to arrive.
Considering there was some distance from the Grant Hotel to the Lockwood Family home, and that Carter would need at least half an hour to drop Old Mrs. Lockwood off and come back, that was what she’d expected.
But when she stepped out the door, Carter’s car was already pulling up right in front of her.
Anna got in and was pleasantly surprised to see the man inside—it really was Carter.
"Hubby, how did you get back so fast!"
It was way too fast.
"Mm." Carter responded.
He actually hadn’t taken Old Mrs. Lockwood home. Not long after the car left the hotel, he had the driver pull over.
He explained to Old Mrs. Lockwood that he still had some things to take care of.
Old Mrs. Lockwood didn’t ask much and let him get out.
Carter then had his own driver bring the car around to pick him up. When he got to Anna’s hotel, he’d barely arrived when Anna called.
