Miles Morgan laughed, "The assets should be split fifty-fifty."

He agreed so readily that Anna Morgan and Mrs. Monroe immediately sensed something was wrong.

"The debt should also be split fifty-fifty!"

"What debt?"

Mrs. Monroe had been at home for many years and hadn’t been involved in business matters.

She hadn’t even dealt with her own family’s affairs.

When Thorne Group was merged into The Morgan Corporation, she handed her shares to Miles Morgan without thinking there was any problem.

She was solely focused on taking care of Miles Morgan, plus they had two children, never expecting Miles Morgan to be such a shameless man!

"The Morgan Corporation has several major projects that have incurred losses."

"Lots of debts racked up."

Miles Morgan said as he sighed lightly, "This much debt to pay back, I’m afraid we’ll have to use The Morgan Corporation as collateral!"

"You’re talking nonsense!"

Mrs. Monroe shouted.

Even though she didn’t understand business matters, she knew The Morgan Corporation couldn’t possibly be in a position of bankruptcy for debt repayment.

Miles Morgan must have manipulated things behind the scenes.

"What about the house?"

"You’ve sold quite a few properties over the years."

"Indeed, many properties were sold," Miles Morgan admitted, "Besides this one being our matrimonial asset, none of the others are under my name."

After saying this, Miles Morgan’s smile grew more pronounced.

He sought out Ivy Preston, fearing Mrs. Monroe would be angry enough to divorce him.

A divorce involves asset division, terribly troublesome, and damaging to his interests.

As for properties under his name, anticipating the day he might have an affair, the houses he bought were never in both their names, either under his parents or his siblings.

"You’ve been scheming against me all along." Mrs. Monroe realized she was too late to fight back.

During the marriage, she was aware Miles Morgan was buying properties everywhere.

Miles Morgan managed everything outside, while she took care of the home, nurtured the children, and respected his parents.

Every task she did flawlessly.

Yet...

The person Miles Morgan trusted most was never her, not even his own sister.

Mrs. Monroe felt stifled, Anna called out repeatedly, "Mom."

"The shares Grandpa left Mom!"

"Those are surely Mom’s."

Anna had considered Miles Morgan might transfer assets but didn’t expect it to be so early, so thorough.

She suddenly thought of the shares Grandpa left to Mom.

Mrs. Monroe thought about those shares but didn’t rush to grab them; she leaned against the sofa, laughing at herself.

"Thorne Group was acquired by The Morgan Corporation, and indeed Grandpa left shares for your Mom."

"However, your Mom has already transferred those shares to me."

Miles Morgan said while taking an agreement out of a bag beside him.

Anna took the agreement and paused at the sight of Mrs. Monroe’s signature at the end.

"Mom, it’s your handwriting."

Mrs. Monroe smirked, "Anna, no need to look, it’s indeed my handwriting."

Thorne Group was merged with The Morgan Corporation; her father wanted to exchange Thorne Group for shares in The Morgan Corporation for her sake.

Later, Grandpa transferred those shares to Mrs. Monroe.

"A few years ago, he said the company’s shares were maliciously acquired by other directors, claiming his shares couldn’t stabilize his position as power holder."

"Watching him busy going everywhere, staying up each night in the study room made me feel sorry for him."

"So, I found a lawyer to transfer the shares I held in The Morgan Corporation to him."

Mrs. Monroe grew more bitter as she spoke, realizing regret was futile now!

"He promised me he’d eventually give The Morgan Corporation to you two."

The Morgan Corporation became theirs, yet ultimately wasn’t meant for their own children.

In truth, Miles Morgan never had that intention.
