Mr. Grant Treats Me Like a Treasure

Chapter 983 - 982: Let It Be

Mrs. Ford is even more like the head of The Ford Family than Mr. Ford.

"Mom!"

Julian Ford called out in a subdued voice, thinking Mrs. Ford said that because she was going to oppose him and Finn Chandler.

"The wedding must go on."

He spoke in a tone that brooked no discussion.

The usually gentle Julian Ford could be just as domineering as his own biological mother.

He might look mild, but once his mind was made up, it was firm.

All these years he’d followed the road Mrs. Ford paved for him, step by step to get here. If Mrs. Ford now chose to oppose this marriage like Mr. Ford and the others, he didn’t mind going head‑to‑head with them for Finn Chandler’s sake.

"Julian!"

Fiona Ford softened her voice. "Mrs. Chambers jumped off the building today. That’s way too ominous for a wedding."

"How about we postpone the wedding for now and take care of Mrs. Chambers’s funeral first?"

Fiona suggested. She hadn’t expected Mrs. Ford to suddenly speak up and bring up Mrs. Chambers’s jump.

You had to admit, Mrs. Chambers picked the perfect moment to jump.

Once this wedding was over, she’d find some reporters and have them properly write up the whole mess between Mrs. Chambers and Finn Chandler.

As for how to write it? Spectators love dog‑blood drama; they don’t care if it’s true or not, and Finn Chandler would definitely become the subject of gossip in both Solaria and the Imperial Capital.

Driving your own birth mother to her death—what right does she have to become The Ford Family’s madam.

"Fiona Ford."

Julian’s voice sounded, his gaze turning cold as he glared at Fiona.

The smile on Fiona’s face faded. She’d grown up with Julian, and it was very rare for him to talk to her this coldly.

Ever since Finn Chandler came to Solaria, Julian’s attitude toward her had grown increasingly distant.

"My business is not yours to meddle in."

Julian shot back, his voice icy.

"Julian."

Fiona felt a sharp ache in her chest. After all these years between her and Julian, she still couldn’t compare to an outsider.

This Finn Chandler...

Fiona called out in grievance, then fixed her gaze on Finn. "I’m doing this for your sake and for The Ford Family’s sake."

Finn didn’t feel hurt, nor did she feel wronged by their comments or by Mrs. Ford speaking up.

She just let out a cold laugh as she stood there.

"Julian."

Mr. Ford chimed in, "Your mother and your sister are thinking of The Ford Family."

"Call off your wedding with Miss Chambers for now."

Mr. Ford followed up smoothly.

He had already been dissatisfied with Finn; now he had even more reason to oppose this marriage.

"Heh."

Julian gave a couple of cold laughs. The thought of cancelling the wedding hadn’t even crossed his mind. He reached out, tightened his grip on Finn’s hand, and said to the officiant beside them, "The wedding continues."

His life was not for others to decide.

"Julian Ford!"

Mr. Ford barked in anger. He couldn’t rein in his wife, and he had even less control over his son.

All Mr. Ford could do was turn to Mrs. Ford, hoping she would step out and oppose the marriage.

"Mrs. Chambers did indeed just jump from the top floor."

Finn suddenly spoke up. Mrs. Chambers had jumped with the sole purpose of completely destroying this marriage.

"But it has absolutely nothing to do with me."

Finn raised her voice. "If you insist on saying it does, then all I’ll say is she came to beg me to let Pearl Chambers off."

"I refused her request, and she jumped from up there! Heh. A mother like that—forget it."

"Forget it!"

The two light words fell into everyone’s hearts.

To think a daughter could describe her own birth mother’s suicide jump with just the words "forget it."

"Pearl Chambers is her biological older sister."

"This Finn Chandler—is she always this cold?"
