Chapter 902: Without Me, There Would Be No You
Compared to Claire Sullivan’s straightforwardness and gullibility, Serena Sullivan is exceptionally perceptive of a person’s intentions.
The purpose behind Wendy Monroe’s words was unnoticed by Claire Sullivan, but Serena Sullivan saw through it.
"Mrs. Kane, are you saying this to make us leave?"
Wendy Monroe is not a mindless person; she knew that Claire Sullivan had no interest in Felix Lockwood and that Claire Sullivan was growing impatient with the two of them. Why, then, did she bring it up, even mentioning finding more lovers?
By saying this, she merely wanted to disgust Claire Sullivan and drive them away in anger.
Serena Sullivan’s guess left Wendy Monroe momentarily stunned.
If Claire Sullivan were as perceptive in the past as Serena, she wouldn’t have almost been pushed into jail by the Ford Family back then.
"Mrs. Kane, I have some questions for you too."
Serena walked over and sat across from Wendy Monroe.
Looking at Serena’s eyes, which were filled with a hint of a smile, Wendy Monroe suddenly felt less at ease.
She tensed up and looked at Serena warily.
"What do you want to ask?"
"Did you touch my mother’s phone twenty years ago?"
Serena stared into Wendy Monroe’s eyes and asked the same question as Claire Sullivan.
When answering Claire Sullivan, Wendy Monroe was very casual.
But when Serena asked, she didn’t dare to answer.
She didn’t know what to say! She was afraid of saying something wrong that Serena would guess.
"Was it you?"
In Wendy Monroe’s silence, Serena asked again.
"If you don’t answer, then it was you."
Serena said with a smile.
"Yes, it was me. So what!"
Wendy Monroe’s voice rose a few notches as she grew agitated involuntarily, "If it wasn’t for me, she would’ve already been raped by June Kane’s people."
The truth of the matter wasn’t so hard to guess.
Why was it that indeed someone appeared and assaulted June Kane?
Back then, the incident took place in an unremarkable hotel, and June Kane was the eldest daughter of the Kane family. How could she have gone there!?
Someone must have lured her there.
At that time, everyone was convinced it was arranged by Claire Sullivan, which justified June Kane being there.
Another possibility was that June Kane orchestrated everything herself.
"It was June Kane who arranged people to go after my mother first."
Serena’s voice turned calm as she asked.
Having spoken about it, Wendy Monroe smiled and leaned back in her chair.
"Yes."
"She always believed herself to be the lady of The Sterling Family. Your mother’s appearance disrupted her plans."
June Kane would do anything for Simon Sterling, first constantly targeting Claire Sullivan, and then later, when Claire Sullivan had a child with Simon Sterling and was about to marry into The Sterling Family, she got scared.
She directly paid people to lure Claire Sullivan over.
"You should really thank me. Without me, you two might not have existed."
June Kane sneered; she never should have helped in the first place. If something had happened to Claire Sullivan, Serena Sullivan and Wyatt Sterling would never have been born.
"I saw the message on your mother’s phone, helped her delete it, and even went to tell June Kane that Claire Sullivan took the bait, prompting June Kane to go see the show herself."
"The man she hired was reckless and, thinking it was your mother, directly assaulted June Kane."
"After succeeding, they realized it was June Kane who had been assaulted. The Ford Family and June Kane couldn’t swallow the insult, so when the man was caught by the police, he took the Ford Family’s money and pinned it on your mother."
"The Ford Family, seeing June Kane was ruined while the one they intended to ruin was unharmed, got that man to give false testimony."
Wendy Monroe smiled as she finished recounting the events, her face and eyes revealing nothing of the truth or lies.
"Simon Sterling, to save your mother, agreed to the Ford Family’s demands and exchanged himself for your mother’s peace."
