At the referee’s command, Tyson Law slammed his long whip down on Morning Glory’s white back, urging her to gallop wildly toward the finish line!

Tyson used so much force that Morning Glory let out a pained whinny, but her four hooves thundered on—his efforts had effect!

The crowd by the track couldn’t help frowning at Tyson Law’s rough whipping.

"Even if Morning Glory is just a horse and not a person, it must still hurt, right?"

"Ugh, why do you care so much? Why be merciful to a damn animal? Aren’t all the wild horses at the club tamed with a good beating like this at the start?"

"Exactly! Who cares what riding method the Second Young Master Law uses, as long as he wins!"

"So what if Morning Glory gets hurt? Even if she’s injured, they’ll patch her up afterwards!"

...

Truthfully, Tyson Law hadn’t practiced riding in a long time, but those twenty seconds saw him pour all his strength into charging forward!

So what if Adrian Law’s given him that head start—honor the bet, win or lose! That’s the true rule.

...

As Tyson’s frustration and fervor built up, so did the force of his lashes.

Although Morning Glory had undergone systematic riding training, even she couldn’t bear such a beating. Luckily, she was mild-tempered and never once thought of throwing her rider off her back.

If it were Adrian Law’s Thundercloud he was riding, that wild stallion would probably have kicked Tyson to death on the spot.

...

Conceding a twenty-second head start sounded like a lot, but in reality, time flew by—and soon Adrian Law, at the referee’s prompt, was charging onto the track!

Thundercloud was an untamed, wild steed—a stark contrast to Adrian Law’s riding style compared to Tyson’s.

He leaned close, body slanted across the pure black stallion, and Thundercloud, apparently pleased with his new master, shot ahead at full speed—man and horse a streak of lightning toward the finish.

Adrian wore an outfit jet-black like Thundercloud’s coat; the wind whipped his clothes sharply, and as soon as he entered the track, every gaze turned to him, irresistibly fixed on his figure.

"Damn! The Eldest Young Master Law is just too cool!"

"Right? He’s not even using a riding crop, but Thundercloud is flying!"

"And running this fast too—Thundercloud hasn’t thrown him off! That’s a miracle!"

...

Cecilia stood at the finish line, dazzled, her eyes fixed on the newly arrived Adrian Law.

No one knew how Adrian had tamed this unruly horse. In the biting winter wind, Thundercloud’s eyes blazed, his muscular legs barely touched the grass as he sprinted, letting out the occasional proud whinny.

Their speed seemed less like they were running on the ground and more like soaring freely above the clouds.

The man she’d married really did seem perfect in every way.

...

Tyson Law was already pushing Morning Glory as fast as she’d go. But whether it was the breed or his riding, Adrian Law was still closing the gap between them with alarming speed.

With only a third of the track left, Tyson heard hoofbeats approaching rapidly from behind—fear creeping ever deeper into his heart.

He couldn’t help himself; he whipped Morning Glory frantically, each time raising his arm and bringing the whip crashing down on her flesh.

No matter how gentle her temperament, no horse could endure such treatment. The beautiful white mare cried out in pain, forced to run even faster, finally managing to widen the gap with Adrian’s Thundercloud just a little.

Among the crowd, there were plenty of sensitive young women. Seeing Tyson Law’s near-inhumane riding, they were furious.

"The Second Young Master Law is being way too cruel!"

"Seriously, who rides a horse like that?!"

"Morning Glory is still one of Stellerton’s top club horses!"

"Is Tyson going to beat Morning Glory to death?"

"Surely it won’t come to that..."

When Fiona Vaughn heard these comments, her face stiffened slightly.

She wasn’t worried about Morning Glory—just a toy for the city’s elite, after all. If the horse died, so be it—they could easily pay compensation; it was nothing to her or Tyson Law.

The point was, even if Morning Glory was going to be beaten to death, it shouldn’t happen until after Tyson had won the race!

Someone noticed Fiona’s tightly furrowed brow and, remembering her usual kindness, softly asked,

"Miss Fiona, do you approve of the Second Young Master Law’s brutal riding?"

Fiona managed a strained smile and replied smoothly,

"Tyson’s my husband—he always knows what he’s doing. Maybe it just looks a little rough?"

From a distance, it didn’t seem so bad. But as soon as Fiona had answered, Tyson was almost at the finish line.

The white mare’s body was now fully in the viewers’ sight.

Bloody welts striped Morning Glory’s pure white coat, a truly shocking sight.

Even among these pampered young aristocrats, few enjoyed seeing animals abused.

A few rich girls snapped, shouting in rage.

"My god! The Second Young Master Law is downright cruel! Even though I bet on him, I regret it—I’d rather he lose!"

"Exactly! The Eldest Young Master’s riding an untamed beast and you don’t see him brutalizing Thundercloud!"

"I’ve ridden Morning Glory before, she’s so gentle. Seeing her like this, I almost want to cry..."

Other than Cecilia Vaughn, everyone present had bet on Tyson Law, but now, one by one, they all switched sides to Adrian Law’s camp!

"Go, Eldest Young Master Law!"

"Eldest Young Master Law, you must win! You have to beat that cruel Tyson Law—I regret ever liking such a heartless man!"

"Go, Eldest Young Master Law! Thundercloud, charge! Overtake that white mare! You guys must win!"

...

With only about thirty meters to the finish, the shouts backing Adrian grew even louder. Rage twisted Tyson’s chest.

Worst of all, Thundercloud somehow seemed to understand—his speed surged, and in a flash, he caught up to Tyson’s Morning Glory.

A chill ran through Tyson—terror at being overtaken seized his heart.

He remembered Thundercloud’s wild reputation, those rumors about kicking two grooms to death. A flash of malice passed through Tyson’s eyes.

—Why was his bastard brother so damn lucky? Why hadn’t that beast thrown Adrian Law to his death?

Gritting his teeth, Tyson slashed his whip through the air, sending it striking Thundercloud instead!

The black stallion neighed in agony, his front hooves rearing up high!

"Oh my god! Eldest Young Master Law, watch out—!"

The crowd was so terrified by the scene, it was as if their hearts might leap from their chests!
