Chapter 475: Adrian’s Baby in Her Belly
"Cecilia, Adrian, finally you’re here."
Stacy Summers saw the two get out of the car, her eyes shining with joyful surprise that quickly turned to shock.
"Adrian, why are you wearing a red scarf?"
The old lady’s eyes not only held confusion but also a depth Cecilia Vaughn couldn’t understand.
Cecilia, seeing Stacy Summers almost unable to stand still, supported her with a mix of amusement and helplessness.
"Grandma, you don’t need to be so exaggerated, do you? It’s just a red scarf. Although Adrian might not have worn one before, doesn’t it still look good on him?"
Cecilia knew that most guys were like this, mostly sticking to blacks and dark blues. Adrian occasionally accepted wearing white, but besides that, Cecilia had never seen him in any other flashy colors.
As for Stacy Summers’ shocked appearance, Cecilia didn’t pay much attention to it.
But Stacy Summers gave her a heavy glance, then looked at Adrian, her wrinkled face soon breaking into a smile of apparent relief and satisfaction.
"Indeed, Adrian, you look good with that red scarf, very festive indeed."
Stacy Summers said this, then carefully took Cecilia’s hand and placed it in Adrian’s hand.
"Knowing you two have such a good relationship, Grandma is reassured."
Cecilia blinked, confused. It’s just a red scarf, so why was Stacy so emotional?
She was about to comfort the old lady, thinking she had been misled by online rumors into misunderstanding her relationship with Adrian.
"Grandma, Adrian and I are doing great. It’s freezing out here, and you should take care of yourself more. We said we’d be here soon, but you insisted on waiting in the cold wind."
"If you catch a cold, Adrian and I would be worried."
Cecilia gently held Stacy’s hunchbacked hand, her eyes bright and clear.
Stacy Summers looked deeply at her and suddenly said something that puzzled Cecilia even more.
"Okay, okay, Grandma will listen to you. Seeing this scarf, I know Adrian really likes you. As long as the two of you are in love, Grandma will be at ease."
As she spoke, tears suddenly welled up.
Cecilia, watching the twinkle in Stacy’s eyes, became flustered, quickly took out a tissue from her bag to wipe Stacy’s tears.
"Grandma, please don’t cry...this..."
She had never noticed before that Stacy was such a sentimental person.
Cecilia always thought of Stacy as a playful old-timer who was always cheerful, never one to cry easily.
Yet here she was shedding tears over a scarf like an innocent child, both heartwarming and amusing.
Seeing Stacy trying to say more, Adrian, with a composed expression, reached out to support her.
"Grandma, let’s not talk about these trivial matters. It’s windy here; let’s go eat."
"Alright, alright."
Stacy quickly wiped her tears, joyfully holding one of them in each hand, leading them inside.
...
In the living room, an extremely exquisite meal was already laid out.
Dried scallop and peanut pork liver stew, spicy carp, coconut milk cooked yam, sweet and sour ribs, clear boiled spinach, spicy beef strips, golden crab dumplings, rich sauce pork knuckle, spicy fried chicken gizzards, plus two sweet soups.
One dish after another, almost resembling a grand feast.
Cecilia and Adrian had been busy recently, rarely visiting the Law Family’s old house, which made Stacy miss them a lot. Seeing the table full of dishes made Cecilia feel a little embarrassed.
"Grandma, why did you tell the kitchen to make so much? Adrian and I can’t finish all this."
Stacy, with a kind smile, amicably added a piece of the spicy fried chicken gizzards to Cecilia’s bowl.
"Oh dear, how can it go unfinished? Grandma is in a good mood today; surely you’ll have an appetite too."
Actually, Stacy preferred the flavors of Crestwick cuisine, liking lighter tastes. But since Cecilia loved spicy food, the Matriarch of the Law Family was so considerate that she had the kitchen prepare a few spicy dishes to Cecilia’s liking.
"Cecilia, you’re so thin you’re almost like a paper figure. You should eat more."
Cecilia’s bowl was soon piled high like a small mountain. She couldn’t refuse the hospitality, so she looked imploringly at the man beside her.
Adrian, his handsome eyes twinkling with laughter, coughed lightly.
"Grandma, do you plan to feed Cecilia like a little pig?"
Stacy froze, looking down to see Cecilia’s bowl nearly obscured by the piled-up dishes. The old lady became somewhat embarrassed and quickly put down the chopsticks she was using to serve.
"Oh my, Cecilia, you and Adrian should eat more. Stay over the weekend, and Grandma will have them make something different for you then."
Due to Director Chapman’s film blessing ceremony, faced with the old lady’s goodwill, Cecilia could only politely decline.
She looked at Stacy apologetically.
"Grandma, it’s unfortunate, but I have to go to Sage’s Mercy Temple this weekend for incense offering, so I can’t accompany you at the Law Family."
"What?!"
Stacy clicked her tongue, paused for a few seconds, suddenly seemed delighted, and kept eyeing Cecilia’s stomach intently.
"Cecilia, are you and Adrian expecting and going to pray for the baby?"
"No..."
Cecilia never expected Stacy’s imagination to go that far, but she also couldn’t expose her secret as a screenwriter, so she awkwardly shook her head.
The old lady’s eyes showed a knowing and ambiguous look, causing Cecilia’s cheeks to turn pink.
"Then you must be going to pray for a cute little baby, right? The Goddess of Fertility at Sage’s Mercy Temple is very effective!"
Cecilia nearly burst out her sweet soup with a laugh, though she managed to swallow it, it still went down the wrong pipe.
"Cough, cough..."
"Cecilia, be careful while eating."
Adrian glanced at her reproachfully, his hand patiently patting the girl’s back.
At this moment, an inappropriate voice came from afar.
"Grandma, stop worrying unnecessarily about Adrian and Cecilia. I bet some people are praying because they can’t get pregnant, hence resorting to praying."
Rosalind White walked down the stairs with a faint smile, dressed in simple pink clothes, yet her vibrant beauty couldn’t be hidden.
"Rosalind, what nonsense are you talking! Cecilia surely has no such issues!"
Stacy immediately frowned, casting an apologetic glance at Cecilia.
"Cecilia, don’t mind it. Rosalind is just spoiled by me and speaks without thinking, like a child."
Cecilia gracefully and calmly responded to Rosalind with a smile.
"Grandma, I understand. After all, Rosalind just got over her throat problem after two months, no wonder she’s a bit edgy."
...
"Who are you calling edgy?"
Seeing Rosalind angry, Stacy glared at her again.
"Behave yourself."
Rosalind pouted, but when her gaze fell on Adrian’s attire, she staggered, her eyes filled with disbelief.
"Adrian, didn’t you say you’d never wear red in this life?"
