After 72 hours of online polling (with 120 million valid votes cast), the names for the three panda cubs were finalized:

The male cub was named "Dundun Hero," a name bolstered by the popular Winter Olympics mascot IP, its heroic flair a perfect match for the panda's endearingly clumsy nature.

Of the two female cubs, one had pink paw pads that resembled chili peppers, so she received the adorable name "Fiercely Cute."

The other female cub was named "Yun Duoduo," because her fur was exceptionally fluffy and adorable, just like a little cloud.

The name with the pun, "Fiercely Cute," was the most popular, and that cub became the fan favorite.

This, in turn, created another trending hashtag: #SichuanChongqingSpicyPanda.

There were many other lovely names that didn't make the cut, such as "Ma Huahua" (a name based on a Chongqing noodle seasoning, made cute by the repeated character, which received 18.9% of the vote), "Mountain City Treasure," "Zhu Yaomei," and "Jiaoyan Tuantuan." (The last one was actually quite good, combining a classic Sichuan culinary spice with the imagery of reunion, but it was unsuitable because the cub's father was already named Tuantuan.)

In addition, there were "Pi-Baby," "Mo Bai," "Third Crown Prince," and others.

They were all decent, but they fell a little short compared to "Dundun Hero," "Fiercely Cute," and "Yun Duoduo."

It's worth mentioning that Yao Yao, Zhao Xueqing, and Lei Xiaohui had a good head for business. Seeing how popular the name "Fiercely Cute" had become, they immediately registered it as a trademark.
