Chapter 477 - 319: Jiang Cai’Er’s Choice (3)
Jiang Cai’Er smiled. "Mom, Dad, don’t worry about me. Over the next few days, Brother Xiang and I are going to pick out some smart home appliances, like a washing machine and a robot vacuum. Besides, I’m all grown up now and perfectly capable of taking care of myself."
Jiang Jianguo and Aunt Jiang weren’t convinced. But after helping set up the place for a few days, they were stunned to discover that, just as she’d said, the various machines were incredibly obedient, keeping the home in perfect order.
Little did they know that all those smart home appliances—the lights, the robot vacuum, the tea station, the water heater, the washing machine, the refrigerator, and so on—had been "hacked" by Jiang Cai’Er and brought under her complete control.
They were all connected to the internet, allowing her to control everything in the house anytime, anywhere.
What’s more, she now possessed two Quantum Computers, and her Memory Palace had expanded to several times its previous size. Her Computing Power was immense; handling tens of thousands of tasks simultaneously was no problem at all.
There’s a saying: "How can you hope to sweep the world clean if you can’t even sweep your own room?" With Jiang Cai’Er’s abilities, tidying up the apartment used less than one-millionth of her Computing Power.
As for security, that was even less of a concern. Besides Li Xiang, there was probably no one who could defeat Jiang Cai’Er. Even Luo Feifei would likely have a tough time.
Jiang Cai’Er also brought the robot dog over, keeping it in the apartment as a pet.
She wrote custom code for the robot dog, endowing it with a more advanced artificial intelligence and ensuring its absolute loyalty to her.
The three-bedroom apartment provided by Tsinghua University had rather nice fixtures and finishes, so Li Xiang and Jiang Cai’Er left them untouched. They simply replaced everything they could with new items: the mattress, toilet seat, shower head, curtains, sofa, television, and so on. They also brought in a host of smart appliances, along with a desktop computer, a laptop, and other electronics.
Jiang Cai’Er had been using her old phone for a couple of years, so she swapped it for the latest model. It wasn’t like any of these things cost much money to them.
Things like new bed linens, clothes, and shoes went without saying. Given their financial status, Li Xiang and Jiang Cai’Er had long since achieved financial freedom. Even without the apartment provided by the university, they could easily afford to buy a large luxury flat nearby.
As for the kitchen, the university had cafeterias, so they didn’t bother with much cookware. Jiang Cai’Er had no intention of wasting her time on cooking, anyway.
Li Xiang did buy her a coffee machine, however. He stocked the cabinet underneath with plenty of coffee beans—all of them premium quality, nothing second-rate. He planned to visit often to replenish her supplies, making sure she never had to worry about the trivialities of daily life.
He also set up a dedicated snack room, filled with case after case of various treats.
’Setting up a new home is actually pretty fun.’ If nothing unexpected happened, Jiang Cai’Er would live in this apartment for at least a few years—perhaps even until the Apocalypse arrived.
Even after graduating, she could stay on at the university, lead a laboratory, and continue her research. Jiang Cai’Er felt no pressure about employment; she was studying purely to improve herself and hoped to be of greater help to Li Xiang in the future. If, in the process, she could also make a few new contributions to human civilization, she would be more than happy.
With the apartment set up and the start of the semester not far off, Jiang Cai’Er didn’t return home. She had been invited to a summer camp organized by the university, so in a sense, she had already dived into the academic life of the prestigious school.
Seeing their daughter busy every day and getting along well with her teachers and classmates, Jiang Jianguo and his wife returned home early, their minds at ease. Li Xiang, however, stayed for a few more days, tagging along with Jiang Cai’Er to get a taste of life at Tsinghua Garden.
In the evenings, they would have romantic strolls under the moonlight on the beautiful Tsinghua University campus, whispering sweet nothings to each other. They also took the opportunity to visit other nearby universities, such as Peking University, the Aerospace University, the Beijing Institute of Technology, Renmin University, Peking Union Medical College, and Beijing Normal University.
Li Xiang had never been in a relationship during his own university days, nor had he attended such a prestigious school. Now, Jiang Cai’Er was helping him fulfill that dream. ’He had to admit, dating on a university campus had a unique charm.’
Although Li Xiang was twenty-seven, his Cultivation grew deeper by the day. He was exceptionally handsome, with fair, flawless skin that had a healthy, rosy undertone. He looked to be in his early twenties at most, and several times, people called him "student." He was even called "underclassman" by some sophomores and juniors.
"How about we go to one of the academic buildings..." Li Xiang whispered in Jiang Cai’Er’s ear.
Jiang Cai’Er instantly blushed, exclaiming, "You’re such a pervert~"
"It’s not like I’ve only been a pervert for a day or two. You’re just now figuring that out?" Li Xiang chuckled.
Jiang Cai’Er couldn’t say no to him. And so, the prestigious university’s academic buildings, rooftops, athletic fields, small groves of trees, gymnasium, library... they left their mark in all kinds of places.
