Chapter 60: Finding The Proof About Ryan’s Kidnapping
After bickering with the system for a few more minutes, Klaus got ready to leave his house to go about his daily life.
But the instant he stepped out of his house, his phone buzzed.
’Who is it now?’ His brows furrowed upward, and he pulled out the phone to check the message.
Unexpectedly, it was from Mercy, the Boss of the Milten gang.
Klaus had provided him with the images with the help of Carl, who seemed to be getting impatient with his excuses about the autograph taking longer.
He read the message and his lips rose slightly into a faint smile.
"Not bad."
The message was about the task he had given him. Unfortunately, Mercy couldn’t find concrete proof about Ryan’s kidnapping, but he did learn that the Scorpio gang had kidnapped some children in the past few weeks, and they were about to send them to the Bruma Syndicate in the next few days.
"I have to save him before they can do that."
Klaus slid the phone back in his pocket and donned his mask and cap as he rushed to the street and took a taxi to the night market.
The taxi dropped him at the same street as before, and he made his way toward the base of the Milten gang.
As he neared the warehouse, he saw a few gang members following his movements with their gazes. Still, none said anything.
When he was just a few steps from entering the warehouse from the main entrance, his gaze fell on a familiar face.
It was the same scarred man whom he had knocked out in one of the stores of the night market.
The scarred man looked at him, and the moment he did, his face went pale, and he stammered while pointing at him, his body trembling as the events of that day resurfaced in his mind, "T-That’s him..."
Klaus shook his head and walked past him.
"Calm down, or you might pee in your pants again. You are a grown-ass man. It wouldn’t look good, right?"
The scarred man nodded frantically and tore his gaze away from Klaus before tightly shutting his eyes.
Seeing his shoulder turn tense, Klaus chuckled faintly and walked into the warehouse with smiling eyes.
As he entered, Mercy jumped off his chair and walked toward Klaus with a wide smile on his face, his gold chains and gem-engraved watches catching light.
"Mr. Maker. It’s good to see you."
"I hope you can make me feel the same," Klaus stated as he looked around.
’Where are the others?’
The Milten gang had about thirty members, but he had seen only half of them.
Mercy understood his confusion and said, "You are wondering where the others are, right?"
Klaus nodded. "I am."
"Well, you see," Mercy said, "Two of my gang members must roam around the market, and as for the remaining, I have ordered them to keep an eye on the Scorpio gang’s moves."
’Oh?’ Klaus’s eyes shone in surprise, and he said, "Good job. You did the right thing."
Mercy scratched his cheek and mumbled, "Haha. Is that so? Well, I am the Boss for a reason."
"Do you have anything planned for the task?" Klaus asked.
Mercy’s expression turned serious, and he nodded.
"I do."
’Guess he is aware that he can’t play around anymore,’ Klaus remarked inwardly.
"What have you thought of?" He asked curiously.
"Every month, all three gangs hold a meeting in which we can only have one guard with us and no weapons. I believe with Mr. Maker there, you would easily be able to get what you need."
’That makes sense.’ Klaus thought about it and asked, "When is the meeting?"
"In an hour." Mercy checked the time on his watch. "We should leave for the meeting spot."
"Alright," Klaus said, and the two of them walked out of the warehouse.
They then boarded a car, and it moved toward the meeting spot.
Both of them stayed silent during the journey there, and Mercy occasionally glanced at Klaus.
"Are you curious about something?" Klaus asked as they stepped out of the car.
Mercy glanced at him with a wry smile and said, "I am curious about many things, and fortunately, I am not a cat."
Klaus smiled behind his mask. "What if you were a cat?"
Mercy smirked. "Then curiosity would have killed the cat!"
He clutched his stomach and burst into laughter, tears gathering at the corners of his eyes.
"Haha. It was funny! Right?"
Klaus chuckled and shook his head. "A little."
"You just don’t want to accept my comedic talent." Mercy sighed dejectedly, and they reached the building where the meeting was going to take place.
Both of them looked at the building. It was nothing fancy, just an unfinished corporate office building with no paint and empty windows.
"...An abandoned, unfinished building out of everything," Mercy clicked his tongue.
’They make thousands every day, and this is the only place they could think of as a meeting spot...’
Either whoever chose this place was stupid, or they were too greedy to spend money on something better.
"This way it’s better for us," Klaus stated.
"That’s right," Mercy nodded, and the two of them walked inside.
For the next few minutes, they roamed around the building to check if there was any trap set up in here, and to their comfort, there was nothing.
They took the stairs to the roof and watched the ground, waiting for the Corals gang and Scorpio gang.
Five minutes before the meeting’s time, a black sedan and a white crossover halted before the building, and two guys stepped out from each of them.
Seeing them, Mercy mumbled darkly, "Those bastards always act like they are the busiest in the whole Golden City."
He glanced at Klaus and frowned upon seeing his eyes, which were wide in shock.
"Is something wrong?"
Klaus didn’t say anything and just continued to stare at the person walking beside the Boss of Scorpio gang.
A single thought flashed through his mind.
’Why is that guy here?’
