Chapter 2124: Hemingway Family
When Xiao Zheng returned to the temple, Hades was already sitting on the divine throne.
Apparently, she had finished her interrogation.
"I didn’t expect you to be faster than me. How was your harvest?"
Xiao Zheng greeted her with a smile.
Hearing this, Hades replied, "It’s not that I’m fast, it’s that you’re too slow."
It was rare for her to tease him, but Xiao Zheng didn’t get angry; instead, he found it amusing. "No way, it’s the first time we’ve captured a living member of the Ancient Clan. I definitely need to ask more detailed questions. Let’s compare our findings to see if our information matches."
The two of them began to verify the information.
Neither Eugene nor Colin lied. The only difference was that Colin told Hades that the Hemingway Family’s Golden Bone was also being targeted by another branch of the Ancient Clan.
"In that case, I must set out immediately," Xiao Zheng said, frowning. "If they act before us, it’ll be troublesome."
"Do you need my help?" Hades asked.
Xiao Zheng shook his head and said, "No need. Although the Ancient Clan sent eighteen people this time, the highest cultivation is only at the Extraordinary Realm Peak. I can handle them alone."
"Besides, with Eugene and Colin still held in the temple, if you leave too, who will watch over them?"
"If they manage to escape and inform the Ancient Clan, we’ll have even bigger problems."
Hearing this, Hades nodded and said, "Understood. I will permanently eliminate this threat."
"You’re planning to kill them?" Xiao Zheng asked, his mind racing.
Hades shook her head and said, "I plan to use them to create an Ancestor Statue. Aren’t these two the perfect materials for that?"
Hearing her words, Xiao Zheng’s eyes lit up. "That’s right, how could I have forgotten this! Both of them are at least at the Supreme Realm, perfect for making an Ancestor Statue!"
"It seems the Ancient Clan folks are truly a timely gift! Not only did they bring us information about the Ancient World and the Golden Bone, but they also delivered a great deal of soul power to us!"
"The Ancient Clan people are family indeed!"
"Hades, remember to give them an extra large meal tonight—large cuts of meat and big bowls of wine!"
After saying that, Xiao Zheng couldn’t help but laugh.
If Eugene and Colin had heard his words, they would probably feel like crying.
They’d rather not eat this meal!
Unfortunately, the fate of these two men was already sealed, and as for the remaining sixteen members of the Ancient Clan scattered elsewhere, they were destined to become Xiao Zheng’s targets!
After bidding farewell to Hades, Xiao Zheng set out for where the Hemingway Family was located.
The Hemingway Family was situated in central Europe, now residing in a city called Luxembourg.
Xiao Zheng took less than twenty minutes to arrive in Luxembourg. According to Eugene, the Hemingway Family now had only twelve members, all working ordinary jobs in Luxembourg.
As for the Golden Bone, it was kept in the hands of the Family Head, Old Hemingway.
Following the address, Xiao Zheng quickly found Old Hemingway’s home.
This was a poor neighborhood; the walls of the residential building outside were peeling in many places, marked by the traces of time. When Xiao Zheng ascended the wooden staircase to the fourth floor, he knocked on a wooden door.
After about half a minute, an elderly man came to answer the door.
The old man was quite advanced in age and walked unsteadily.
He was Old Hemingway. Despite his age and the decline of his family, a tinge of noble pride could still be seen in him. His hair was impeccably groomed, and his clothes were clean and proper.
"Sir, whom are you looking for?"
Old Hemingway adjusted the glasses perched on his nose and asked.
Hearing this, Xiao Zheng smiled and said, "Hello, sir. I’m a collector from Huaxia. A friend told me about the Hemingway Family’s history, so I came to pay a visit."
Hearing that he posed as a collector, a look of understanding flashed in Old Hemingway’s eyes, and he stepped aside, saying, "It’s quite rude to entertain guests at the door. Please come in."
"Thank you." Xiao Zheng nodded, then followed him inside the house.
The entire house was not large, but it was kept very tidy.
Seeing Old Hemingway was about to brew tea, Xiao Zheng quickly said, "No need to trouble yourself, sir. I’m not thirsty right now. If you have time, we can sit and chat."
Old Hemingway hesitated for a moment, then nodded.
Once both were seated, Old Hemingway proactively spoke, "Actually, I know your purpose. When you said you were a collector, I already knew. You’re here for that golden bone, right?"
"That’s right." Xiao Zheng nodded with a smile.
He had come here to purchase the Golden Bone. Since Old Hemingway had guessed his intent, there was no need to conceal it.
Hearing this, Old Hemingway said, "It’s not just you. Recently, many have come looking for me. The prices they offered were astronomical, beyond even what our Hemingway Family could ever dream of at its peak."
"Did you sell the Golden Bone?" Xiao Zheng asked urgently.
"No, I didn’t. That Golden Bone is a symbol of our Hemingway Family’s past prosperity. I will not sell it," Old Hemingway shook his head and said. "No matter how much money you offer, I won’t sell it."
Hearing his words, Xiao Zheng couldn’t help but frown.
If Old Hemingway refused to sell the Golden Bone, it would indeed be troublesome.
Now Xiao Zheng faced two choices: force Old Hemingway to sell or leave and wait for the Ancient Clan to arrive and snatch the Golden Bone from them.
Because the Ancient Clan, unlike him, would stop at nothing for the Golden Bone.
However, both methods seemed quite underhanded.
After thinking it over carefully, Xiao Zheng said, "Sir, to be honest, the Golden Bone you hold isn’t a treasure. Keeping it with you will bring great disaster to you."
"Even your family may be implicated."
After considering, he decided to reveal part of the truth to Old Hemingway.
Hearing this, Old Hemingway frowned and said, "If you think scaring me will force me to sell the Golden Bone, then you underestimate me. My ancestors once conquered the world. Though our Hemingway Family has fallen, that spirit has been passed down!"
"Leave. You’re not welcome here!"
