My Child and I Married a Billionaire

Chapter 287: He Can’t Handle Her. What About Me?

Sponsored

’Amina is so frugal. There’s no way she’d buy a new outfit just for a cleaning job, and she definitely wouldn’t have picked something like this herself.’

’She’s too innocent to even understand what these clothes imply, let alone know where to buy them.’

Simone Vaughn!!

A vicious glint flashed in Zeke Walton’s eyes. He laid Amina back on the bed, covered her with the blanket, and then stormed out the door, dragging Kay by the foot.

Seething with rage, he was about to throw Kay down the stairs when he ran right into Simone Vaughn and a crowd of people.

Just moments before, they had been having fun when the doorbell suddenly rang.

Simone Vaughn thought another one of her food deliveries had arrived and went to get the door herself.

Unexpectedly, she looked up and was met with Zeke Walton’s dark, cold, and grim face.

Her heart skipped a beat, and before she could stop him, Zeke Walton pushed past her and stormed into the house.

Amid everyone’s shock and panic, he sprinted all the way up to the third floor.

Everyone was dumbfounded. It was obvious he was here for that girl.

It looked like Simone Vaughn was about to have her heart broken again.

"Simone..."

Terrified that what was happening upstairs would be exposed, Simone Vaughn ignored the crowd’s stares and hurriedly chased after him.

The moment she ran, the crowd followed her up the stairs.

Seeing Kay shirtless, being dragged across the floor by Zeke Walton, the crowd froze on the staircase and gasped.

"What’s going on? This..."

Simone Vaughn’s face was deathly pale. She knew what was coming next but still forced herself to remain calm.

"Zeke Walton, who let you into my house? What do you think you’re doing, causing a scene for no reason?"

"Your house? This is *your* house? No reason? You fucking call this ’no reason’?"

Zeke Walton kicked Kay in the stomach, and he started wailing again like a maggot.

Then he pointed at Kay and demanded of Simone Vaughn.

"This is the first I’m hearing that Miss Vaughn has such a ’bold’ lifestyle. Getting a bunch of guys and girls together to play these kinds of dirty games in some hidden corner, and you call this ’no reason’!"

"You!"

Even though she knew she was in the wrong, Simone Vaughn couldn’t stand him speaking to her so harshly.

"What I do and who I see is none of my family’s business, so what right do you have to boss me around? Today is a special day. I’m celebrating my rebirth. If you’re just here to ruin things and piss me off, then congratulations, you’ve succeeded. Now get out!"

"Of course I’ll get out. If you hadn’t used such despicable methods to deliberately lure me here, I wouldn’t want to see you again for the rest of my life, even on my deathbed."

Zeke Walton looked at her coldly.

"I already know about the photos you sent in the group chat. I also caught you and this son of a bitch red-handed as you were about to commit an illegal act against Amina. I’ve already called the police. Simone Vaughn, don’t say I’m not showing you any mercy. You brought this all on yourself."

Simone Vaughn’s heart seized with panic, and she nearly lost her footing.

She knew Zeke Walton was ruthless, but she never thought he’d be *this* ruthless.

’Over such a small thing, he’d call the police on *me*?’

’He knows full well how strict my mother is and how passive my father is. He knows how difficult my situation at home is.’

’Calling the police during the New Year’s holiday... isn’t that just throwing me to the wolves?’

Feeling terribly wronged, Simone Vaughn gathered her dress and rushed up the stairs to confront Zeke Walton.

"Do you hate me that much? Do you despise me that much? What did I ever do to offend you, Zeke Walton? Why are you doing this to me? All I did was like you! Is it a crime to like you? Why are you treating me like this?"

"You’d rather be nice to a delivery girl than to me. Am I that terrible? I am the esteemed Miss Vaughn of the Vaughn Family! Do you have any idea how many men in Veridia are lining up to marry me? You trample my dignity underfoot, and now you want to have me arrested? Who the hell do you think you are?"

Zeke Walton took two steps back.

He truly hated being in close proximity to Simone Vaughn. It was suffocating, irritating.

"I’ve never thought of myself as anything special. I also know that you’re the untouchable Miss Vaughn, which is why I never wanted anything to do with you. Besides, just because you like me, does that mean I have to like you back?"

Simone Vaughn was speechless.

Zeke Walton continued, "Regardless, that’s no excuse to hurt others. And what century are we in? Are delivery people not human? Are they a class beneath you? What gives you the right to look down on her? Today, I’m going to make you understand that even you, Miss Vaughn, will pay the price for hurting a delivery girl!"

"Don’t!"

Seeing that her tough act wasn’t working on him, Simone Vaughn started to cry pitifully.

She reached for his hand.

"Don’t do this to me, Zeke. I only did this because I like you so much. I just wanted you to look at me, to get your attention. I didn’t mean to do anything bad, really, you have to believe me! We grew up together. Don’t you know what kind of person I am?"

"I don’t want to go to the police station, I’m scared! I’m a germaphobe, and I’m afraid of the dark, you know that!"

"Besides, Mom will yell at me, and Dad might even hit me. And Grandpa, and my big brother... they’re all so strict..."

She did indeed look pitiful at that moment, utterly humiliated in front of so many people.

But Zeke Walton still pushed her away heartlessly.

"Even with so many strict people watching over you, with so many deterrents keeping you in check, you still dare to be this outrageous. Without them, wouldn’t you be completely lawless? If I hadn’t arrived in time, you would have ruined someone’s entire life for your own selfish desires. Did you ever once think about how they would feel?"

"Your family is prominent, you have so many people to back you up, and yet you still feel wronged. She has no family or friends, just trying to make a living here all by herself, and she still has to suffer your bullying..."

He couldn’t say any more. Zeke Walton felt a sharp pain in his heart.

’The thought of all those eyes, all those ugly, disgusting people ganging up on Amina just now, made him furious enough to kill!’

At the same time, he also hated himself.

’There were clearly signs yesterday. He’d noticed several times that Amina had something she wanted to say to him, so why didn’t he press her for more details?’

’If something had really happened today, he couldn’t bear to imagine the consequences...’

Seeing that neither her hard nor soft approach was working, Simone Vaughn suddenly decided to throw all caution to the wind.

She could see that there was absolutely no chance for her and Zeke Walton in this lifetime. A sudden, cold laugh escaped her lips.

"So what if you called the police? That’s ridiculous. All I did was ask her to come over and clean, and I took a couple of photos. Is that a crime?"

In truth, Zeke Walton didn’t have any solid evidence to convict Simone Vaughn. He had just been trying to scare her.

Looking at her, now shameless after realizing the truth, Zeke Walton felt utterly disappointed.

Although he had no romantic feelings for Simone Vaughn, it was true, as she’d said, that they had grown up together.

He found her cloying, clingy, and theatrical. He’d even changed his sexual orientation because of her. But to see her turn into such a viper was still a profound disappointment.

"He can’t. But what about me?"

"Simone Vaughn, you run around acting lawless under the Vaughn family name, making a disgraceful scene and spouting arrogant nonsense. Did you really think no one could do anything to you?"

Just as Simone Vaughn was locked in a staring contest with Zeke Walton, a voice—colder, deeper, and far more powerful and intimidating—came from behind the crowd.

So familiar. It was Damien Vaughn!
