Chapter 369: He Gets Shy Too

Ryan handed the clothes to Cecelia and ran back to get his things.

Cecelia closed the door and sat on the sofa. Soon, Damien Vaughn came out, drying his short hair.

Although both were wrapped in bathrobes, what had just happened felt fresh in their minds. When their eyes met, they both reflexively shied away.

Cecelia had never expected Damien Vaughn to be so shy. ’She really loved seeing him like this, all sensual and shy.’

She averted her gaze for a moment to compose herself, then looked at him with her usual commanding expression.

"I got you a couple of new outfits. Come on, get changed."

Damien Vaughn had just told her about Sherry’s mother’s health issues. He explained that Sherry had grown used to having him around and would worry if he didn’t come home.

Cecelia had offered to drive him back, so he had no choice but to wear the clothes she’d brought.

After Cecelia spoke, he obediently walked over.

He turned his back, slipped off his bathrobe, and started putting on the white shirt.

His movements were swift, and the sophisticated aura that perfectly matched the suit instantly reappeared.

"What are you hiding for? Turn around and let me see if it fits."

Damien Vaughn: "..."

Still, he obediently turned to face her.

Cecelia watched his long fingers fasten one button, then two, then three...

He tucked the well-fitting shirt into his trousers. As he expertly fastened the button with one hand, her mind went fuzzy again.

That familiar Damien Vaughn, the Damien Vaughn who had dressed in front of her countless times, was back!

’Why had I never noticed how handsome, how sexy, he looked just buttoning his shirt?’

Cecelia’s heart pounded wildly, and she unconsciously murmured, "Damien..."

Damien Vaughn’s hand shook, and he fumbled with the button.

’He finally understood why he had married her.’

’This wife of his didn’t just devour a man whole; she sucked the very marrow from his bones.’

’Every time she said his name, it struck him right in the heart. A single glance from her was enough to have him completely wrapped around her finger.’

Damien Vaughn couldn’t help but look over at Cecelia Archer.

She was leaning back on the sofa, her face flushed. She was clearly embarrassed, but she still summoned her courage, met his gaze, and spoke.

"Candy has wanted a little brother or sister for a long time. I was foolish before... How about I have another baby with you?"

Even though they had already been intimate two or three times in the last few hours, Damien Vaughn still felt the blood rush to his head when he heard her words.

"Weren’t you just..."

"That was then, this is now... Don’t you want to have one with me?"

’How could I possibly not want to?’

Damien Vaughn’s Adam’s apple bobbed. ’She has no idea how devastating a woman like her is to a man.’

"But..."

"I promise I won’t cry this time, okay...?"

Cecelia Archer and Damien Vaughn didn’t sleep all night, and neither did Ryan.

Strangely, when the three of them met the next morning, they were all in high spirits.

Seeing President Vaughn, who—despite wearing Ryan’s clothes—had the same spirit and presence as before, but with an added touch of maturity, made Ryan happy from the bottom of his heart.

"President Vaughn is really back! I’m so happy! We should let everyone know so they can be happy too. President Archer, when can I tell them?"

As dawn was breaking, Cecelia had told Damien Vaughn about his past personality, his work, the entire history of the Vaughn Group, its internal structure, and the reason for his accident.

They figured his second uncle would come after them soon, so they prepared accordingly.

"Call everyone over now," Cecelia said. "I’ll hold a meeting for them. I’ll also need everyone’s help with something in a bit."

When everyone was gathered, Cecelia concealed Damien Vaughn’s amnesia. She simply explained that he had been rescued by a young woman. To repay her, he’d helped her open a boba tea shop that was short-staffed, so she asked them all to go work as clerks for a few days.

She added that she and President Vaughn hadn’t seen each other in a long time and wanted to go on a date.

Everyone was ecstatic and completely understood. They wholeheartedly supported the two of them going on a date.

The group headed to the boba tea shop in high spirits, and Ryan was put in charge of talking to Sherry.

When Sherry learned she had saved a major CEO and that these people were all his subordinates, she was too stunned to speak for a long time.

"So, has he left already? Didn’t he say he would come back to see me and my mom? Didn’t he say he would never abandon me?"

"He hasn’t left," Ryan said. "He just went on a date with his wife. And look, we’re all here now, right? Don’t worry, President Vaughn won’t abandon you. He said that if you want to stay in Rivia, he’ll help you buy a house and a car, invest in a shop for you, and give you a generous sum of money—enough for you and your mother to live comfortably for the rest of your lives. If you want to return to his home country, he’ll actively help you get the necessary documents, but that will take some time."

The chance to return home had suddenly appeared—a dream come true for Sherry—but now she didn’t know what to choose.

’The home she remembered felt so distant now. She didn’t even know if it still existed.’

’She had left her father behind and was now saddled with a mentally unstable mother. What could she, a young woman, even do if she went back?’

’But if she didn’t go back, she had no family or friends here...’

"Why so quiet? Still thinking it over? That’s fine, there’s no rush. Take your time. Since it’s not busy, how about you teach me how to mix the boba tea? We can let the others hold down the fort while we talk in the back."

Ryan had a knack for talking to people. His manner was gentle and warm, and Sherry found herself quite willing to speak with him.

Meanwhile, after a brief meeting with everyone and a quick breakfast, Damien Vaughn was dragged onto the streets by Cecelia Archer.

They snapped a photo at one famous landmark, then flaunted their affection at another.

Soon, the people sent by Jean’s husband to find him sent back a report.

"Boss, is this the man you’re looking for? We just spotted him at a plaza downtown."

By then, Second Uncle had recovered from his jet lag and drunkenness. He was demanding to know the target’s whereabouts, so the man quickly handed him the photo.

Second Uncle glanced at the photo. ’Isn’t that Cecelia Archer? Why is he with her?’

"That’s your business. In any case, I’ve given you the address. What went on between them is none of my concern. Mr. Vaughn, let’s call our cooperation concluded for now. You can go handle your affairs."

"Wait."

Although Second Uncle had come in person, he hadn’t brought any men with him.

’If I want to get rid of Damien Vaughn, I’ll have to borrow his men.’

The man seized the opportunity to extort more money from him.

Second Uncle was so determined to eliminate Damien Vaughn that he was willing to pay any price, agreeing to all the man’s demands.

Soon, the hired men closed in on Damien Vaughn and Cecelia Archer.

Of course, the pair had come out specifically to lure the snake from its hole. How could they not sense the men approaching?

Cecelia linked her arm through Damien Vaughn’s, making a snarky comment as they walked.

"I thought Second Uncle would be a little more subtle, that he’d take his time before making a move. I didn’t expect him to be so impatient that he’d strike the moment we stepped out. Some dear uncle you have, so eager to see you dead."

Damien Vaughn: "..."

"But we can’t let them get what they want today. We aren’t fully prepared. Let’s slip away for now. We’ll go back, come up with a solid plan, and get the police in position before we make our next move."
