Chapter 111

He has made a terrible mistake, Shi Gubing thought, a joyful gleam shining in his eyes as he looked toward Li Feng, who had calmly brought doom upon himself.

After all, challenging Shi Tian out of everyone present was perhaps the most foolish thing he could have done, and his son, Shi Tian, was far from being an easy fellow. Li Feng had used the face of the Shi Clan to scrape the floor, and now it was time for the face of the Li Clan to be dragged across that same floor.

He grinned wickedly as he thought, "That kid is doomed..." Meanwhile, Shi Gubing was not the only one who felt that Li Feng was definitely biting off more than he could chew. Rather, all the candidates and members of the Shi Clan, as well as those living within their region who had heard of the Devil, and those lucky... or unlucky... enough to have seen him battle, knew for certain that Li Feng was doomed.

Li San’s gaze remained calm, but his thoughts were anything but calm as he looked at his son and then at the one he had challenged.

Being one of the strongest cultivators present, he could tell that Shi Tian was no small fish; in fact, apart from Haoran, no one among the candidates came remotely close to the aura he was emitting.

Could his son truly win against someone at the very peak of the Qi Refining Realm? And not only that, someone who seemed to have grown even beyond that level? He frowned slightly before looking back at Li Feng.

His son was not irrational enough to make a stupid decision; if he had decided to face one of the strongest among them, then surely it meant he believed he could enter the State of Flow again.

If he could enter the State of Flow once more, then his chances of taking down Shi Tian would increase greatly. After all, everyone present had seen how he used that state to defeat Shi Yuan; it was an extremely powerful state.

After a few moments had passed, Shi Tian finally opened his eyes. His gaze locked onto Li Feng, who was looking back at him with a calm and composed expression as he repeated, "Come onto the stage."

Shi Tian only had one thought in his mind as he slowly rose to his feet: "Moron." He stood up with elegant grace, and without saying a single word or showing the slightest emotion on his face, he began walking toward the stage.

As he passed by the remaining three candidates of his clan, they all flinched as though they had been electrocuted; they couldn’t be blamed, for they all feared and revered him to that extent. But Shi Tian didn’t even spare them a glance as he calmly made his way toward the stage.

Soon, he stood opposite Li Feng, his

expression remaining as impassive and detached as ever. The referee soon began to speak: "Alright, folks! Onto the next match!

We will be witnessing the battle between two of the greatest geniuses of their respective clans! Li Feng, who has just displayed exceptional skill and achieved something none of us could have imagined, will now be facing the number one genius of the Shi Clan... the infamous Devil of the Shi Clan!

Will he be able to accomplish the impossible once again, or will he finally meet defeat? We are all about to receive the answer to that question!" His voice rang across the arena, sharp and filled with vigor.

"And now... let the match between the Devil of the Shi Clan and the true genius of the Li Clan begin!" With that, the referee left the stage, allowing the two warriors to fight to their hearts’ content. Yet neither side made a move. Li Feng looked at his opponent, who stared back at him with absolutely no interest whatsoever.

His gaze remained detached, devoid of any visible emotion, yet Li Feng could clearly perceive the feeling Shi Tian held toward him at this moment: without a doubt, it was disgust.

Li Feng’s expression didn’t change when he realized that even after displaying all the strength he had shown, the man before him still believed that, compared to himself, Li Feng was nothing more than weak. Standing before Shi Tian, Li Feng himself could feel just how overwhelming the gap between them was.

If he tried to fight this guy without entering the State of Flow, he felt as though he wouldn’t even know how he had lost. So, without wasting another moment, he focused. He searched for that calm and tranquil feeling he had experienced before. The moment he touched it, his entire body surged with invigorating power once more.

His perception instantly expanded to its peak, and the world around him became incomparably clear. The State of Flow had returned.

The qi of the world seemed to be at his beck and call as his power surged through the roof. He took a deep breath and slowly exhaled before his gaze hardened. Then he took a step. Using Ripple Step, his figure blurred, and the next second he was already swinging his sword at immense speed toward Shi Tian’s chest.

A tremendous surge of qi flowed through his blade as he struck straight at Shi Tian. And then he hit him... or rather, he seemed to have hit him. Shi Tian was no longer there; instead, he was standing directly back-to-back with him, his posture still as casual as before.

He hadn’t even touched the sword resting at his side. Li Feng’s senses screamed in warning. He twisted around and slashed once more, yet as casually as one would dodge the swing of a child, Shi Tian avoided the strike. He looked at Li Feng with those cold grey eyes that seemed to say only one thing: "You are weak."

Li Feng’s expression changed slightly. *How?* But he didn’t allow two consecutive failures to stop him; he pressed the attack even harder. Yet every single strike, every single blow he tried to land, failed to reach its target.

Shi Tian dodged every attack before it could even come close to touching him. Li Feng’s mind screamed in disbelief. His senses had been sharpened beyond anything he had experienced before, yet he couldn’t read, sense, or predict Shi Tian’s movements.

It was almost as if he were fighting against a Foundation Realm expert instead of someone who was merely at the peak of the Qi Refining Realm. Still, he struck again... Gale Slash, Gale Whip, Gale Slash Barrage, and many more... yet none of them managed to make contact with Shi Tian.

It was deeply troubling, deeply unsettling. "How is he moving so fast?" Shi Tian’s gaze, meanwhile, grew increasingly filled with disgust. *And this... is the person Shi Yuan lost to? Pathetic. Absolutely pathetic."

Of course, Shi Yuan would die after the tournament was over; Shi Tian would kill him personally. But before that, Li Feng needed to understand something: the State of Flow was not invincible.

Just as it granted immense boosts to one’s overall prowess, it also exposed a fatal flaw. Li Feng’s overall strength had increased tremendously because of the State of Flow, but his mental energy was also being consumed at an alarming rate.

Even if he managed to maintain himself, the State of Flow didn’t grant combat mastery or battle IQ; it merely made every movement efficient and nearly flawless. Because of that, Shi Tian had already deciphered more than ten different ways to end this battle, but he wasn’t in a hurry.

He wanted Li Feng to witness it personally: State of Flow or not, he was nothing before him.

The battle continued. The two figures moved across the stage at astonishing speeds. As time passed and everyone present realized that Li Feng had yet to land even a single hit, murmurs began spreading throughout the crowd. Gasps of disbelief echoed from every direction.

"Isn’t that the same Li Feng who completely dominated Shi Yuan?" "So why is he struggling so much against Shi Tian?" "He can’t even land a single attack!" The crowd wasn’t the only one shocked; at the leaders’ platform, Elder Ting’s eyes flashed with immense astonishment.

"How can someone in the Qi Refining Realm move with such speed... and such precision?" He could tell that Shi Tian wasn’t even using a movement technique; he was simply that fast.

And judging from the way he fought, it was obvious that his mastery over combat had reached an astonishing level. Keeping up with someone in the State of Flow was already an almost impossible feat, yet Shi Tian wasn’t merely keeping up; he was completely controlling the pace of the battle.

If Elder Ting hadn’t witnessed this with his own eyes, he would never have believed such a thing was possible. And if he hadn’t personally scanned the young man to confirm his cultivation realm, he would’ve refused to believe Shi Tian was truly only in the Qi Refining Realm. Yet there was no doubt. He really was.

"He is amazing..." Elder Ting muttered, pure shock filling his voice. Shi Gubing couldn’t suppress the satisfied grin spreading across his face when he heard Elder Ting praise his son.

Ever since the tournament had begun, Elder Ting had done nothing but praise the geniuses of the Li Clan, but now, even he had been forced to acknowledge Shi Tian. Li Feng himself was beginning to feel shaken. Despite his speed, despite his reaction speed, despite his heightened perception, he still couldn’t land a single hit on Shi Tian.

Shi Tian merely looked at him with that detached gaze, as though silently saying... "You are boring me." Li Feng used Flash Step, Ripple Step, the Five Basic Forms of the Instinct Awakening Art, along with every other movement technique he had mastered, yet none of it made any difference.

He still couldn’t land a single blow. Soon, he came to a stop. He stared at Shi Tian, whose expression hadn’t changed in the slightest, still standing there as casually as before, as though everything Li Feng had done so far was beneath his notice.

Li Feng took a deep breath. Then he decided to cover his eyes once more with the black cloth, hoping it would enhance his perception to an even higher level.

Although, with the State of Flow he was currently in, he already possessed the greatest level of perception he had ever experienced, it simply wasn’t enough. His opponent hadn’t suffered even a single scratch since the match began.

"If things continued like this, then... No. I can’t lose." Li Feng settled his mind once more, calming every distracting thought until his heart became still. Soon, the world of black and white revealed itself to him once again. He looked toward Shi Tian.

In that monochrome world, Shi Tian’s figure shone white, yet Li Feng couldn’t see any qi lingering around him; it was almost as though every strand of qi within his body had been perfectly restrained and completely brought under his control.

He had perfect control over his qi; he hadn’t even bothered to raise a qi barrier like Shi Lan and Shi Yuan had. Li Feng’s gaze sharpened. *This guy... He is dangerous.*

Of course, he had already known that, but seeing it with his own perception only reinforced that fact. Still, the more powerful Shi Tian proved to be, the more reason Li Feng had to defeat him.

So he attacked once more, using every combat art he knew, drawing upon the world qi and combining it with his own battle qi to their absolute fullest. Again and again, he struck toward Shi Tian. Again... and again... Yet over and over, Shi Tian calmly avoided every attack with precise and effortless movements.

Then he finally opened his mouth. A calm, beautiful, and strangely compelling voice drifted through the arena. "You really believe you can defeat me with a state you have only just stepped into?" He slowly shook his head.

"You have become intoxicated by your victory over Shi Yuan. It has made you believe that you can stand before me." "Shut up!" Li Feng growled as he unleashed Gale Cascade.

His sword became like a raging hurricane, striking over and over toward Shi Tian. Yet Shi Tian merely watched him with that same detached expression before continuing. "You possess no real strength of your own. You merely rely on the world’s qi. Pathetic."

As he spoke, his eyes slowly swept across Li Feng. His thoughts moved rapidly and smoothly: "If the State of Flow is what is sustaining him... If it is what is fueling his every movement... Then what is fueling the State of Flow?" The answer... was rather obvious.

At that moment, Shi Tian’s grey eyes revealed the faintest trace of amusement. "Do you even know... that you can be cut off from the State of Flow?" Li Feng didn’t listen. He refused to believe such nonsense.

Instead, he continued trying to land a single decisive blow. "Let me show you." Shi Tian moved. In an instant, he appeared directly before Li Feng. A surge of qi gathered within his hand.

Then, as though casually brushing away an annoying insect, he struck the empty air. A strange ripple of energy vibrated outward. At first... it didn’t seem to do anything. But in that exact moment... Li Feng’s expression completely changed.

He felt it. His connection to the world’s qi... had been severed. At that very same instant... the State of Flow disappeared. Before his mind could even process what had just happened, Shi Tian’s hand was already resting upon his shoulder.

He leaned slightly closer and whispered into Li Feng’s ear: "State of Flow or not... you are still just like the others. A pathetic weakling."
