Chapter 102: Can’t Wait
Chapter 102
Li Yu, after a long while of cultivating, had finally restored his body back to full health after the training session with his clones had almost ended him. He had only taken that risk because of the tools he had at hand.
He had his clones’ bodies cultivating for him, helping him gather and restore his qi; while Primal Qi was continuously being restored within his body, the healing effects of his Primal Tyrant Physique kicked in. After some time, he was finally back to full health.
"Yosh... time to head back," he thought as he prepared to leave for Burnold City. The Clan Lord and the rest must already be waiting for him. Just as he was about to leave, however, he heard Lazy Rayden’s voice reach him. "Can I sleep now?"
Li Yu’s eyes twitched. Ever since he had known this clone... which was only a little over a day now... the sentence he had said the most remained, "Can I sleep?"
Didn’t he have anything else he could use his time for other than sleeping? With twitching eyes, Li Yu turned his gaze toward his lazy reflection. The few bruises on him had already healed; after all, all his clones and himself were deeply connected.
At the side, King Rayden and Dead Eye Rayden were seated in meditative poses with their eyes closed as if they were cultivating. Although, that wasn’t actually what was happening.
Instead of cultivating, Li Yu had passed the Foundation Breathing Sutra to them... not shared it with them.
If he had shared it directly, they would have understood it instantly, but since it seemed he would need to level up more to access such premium features... as the system called them... he could only use the system as a medium to pass the sutra directly into their minds, just like how the Clan Lord had done when he passed the Foundation Breathing Sutra to him.
Back then, it had only taken Li Yu a minute to learn it, but the same was not true for his clones.
Well, if one considered the fact that when Li Yu learned the sutra, it had only been at the Bronze Rank, while the one he passed to his clones was already at the Obsidian Rank, then, yeah, they were all supposed to take some time to fully grasp and comprehend the technique.
That was how it was supposed to go, at least, and that was exactly what was happening for King Rayden and Dead Eye Rayden.
They had been learning it for the past ten minutes now and didn’t seem like they would be done anytime soon... apart from the anomaly, which was this lazy guy. Li Yu turned his gaze toward Lazy Rayden.
It had only taken him three minutes to learn the sutra. Li Yu looked at Lazy Rayden, who simply raised an eyebrow before asking once again, "Hey... I’ve done everything you asked of me. Can I sleep now?" Li Yu shook his head before looking at him with a small, not-so-good smile on his face.
"You know what... I’ll entrust your brothers’ safety to you. I’ll be going for some battles, and since our two brothers are still comprehending the sutra, protect them while I’m gone."
Lazy Rayden looked at Li Yu as if he had betrayed him once again. "At this point, I’ll never get to sleep... Come on, man... You are abusing this helpless kid." He sighed before collapsing onto the ground. He was even too lazy to show just how dissatisfied he felt.
Li Yu walked over and patted him on the shoulder. "Don’t worry. After I come back, you’ll be rewarded with a long sleep." Lazy Rayden only looked at him lazily. Not much changed in his expression; still, Li Yu had known him long enough to tell that he had agreed.
"Okay. I’ll be leaving now." With that, he started running through the Beast Forest at astonishing speed. He had also given another mission to King Rayden and Dead Eye Rayden: after they finished learning the Foundation Breathing Sutra, they were to immediately begin cultivating.
It would serve two purposes. First, he would be cultivating while battling powerful opponents in the tournament. That way, he might even break through while fighting.
Although he knew he was only dreaming... after all, he needed one thousand Qi Beads to form a single Qi Cluster; even with the help of his clones, it would still take around four to five days to successfully form one... there was an even better use for his clones cultivating.
He was going to be using a tremendous amount of qi throughout the tournament, yet he wouldn’t feel the depletion that much. After all, he would constantly have an influx of qi flowing back into his Qi Beads at regular intervals as his clones cultivated continuously. Li Yu smiled; it really was good to have clones.
That aside, he really couldn’t help but wonder about something else. Surely there had to be someone among the Li clan’s opposition who was worth fighting. It had been a while since he had truly been pushed to his absolute limit.
Hopefully, someone there would be able to give him a run for his money. He would win, though... no matter what. He was himself, so he would win. He only hoped they would be able to put up a meaningful fight.
Thinking to this point, Li Yu couldn’t help but look toward another tab on his system: the Primordial Wheel of Destiny. He still had two spins left. He had been trying to hold himself back from using them; after all, he had no idea whether the wheel would bless him with something incredible or curse him with something troublesome.
But now, since he might end up facing a bunch of powerful opponents, he really hoped he would be blessed with a powerful skill capable of boosting his combat strength by another notch.
With his mind being optimistic instead of pessimistic for once, he summoned the Primordial Wheel of Destiny. Without wasting another thought or hesitating any longer, he spun it. A few seconds later, the familiar mechanical voice of the system rang inside his ears.
Ding! Congratulations, Host. You have received a Basic-Tier Gift Pack. Li Yu’s ears perked up as he immediately opened it. Ding! New skills have been received: Skill: Camouflage (Rank: Basic), Skill: Linear Blink (Rank: Basic). Seeing the word Basic instead of the S-Rank or other grades he had been expecting, Li Yu couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow.
He immediately decided to read the skills’ descriptions. It seemed that skills dropped from his clones were the ones ranked from C to SSS. The skills originating from this world followed the normal ranking system instead, ranging from Earth Grade to Sacred Grade with their respective sub-ranks.
As for the skills granted directly by the system, they followed a completely different grading system: Basic Rank, Intermediate Rank, and whatever came after that. Since the gift pack itself was only of the Basic Tier, he wasn’t holding particularly high expectations.
The two skills could only be average, or perhaps even below average. Still, since he had some time while running through the Beast Forest, he brought up the system interface and decided to carefully read through both skills.
As he read, he couldn’t help but become slightly amazed. Skill: Camouflage (Rank: Basic). Description: Bend light and suppress the user’s presence, allowing them to seamlessly blend into their surroundings. The effect weakens if rapid movement or direct combat is performed by the user.
There was another limitation as well: he could hide from those of the same realm, or even those slightly above him, but not from cultivators vastly stronger than himself. After understanding the inner workings of the skill, Li Yu couldn’t help but be surprised.
Unlike the skills copied from his clones... which didn’t consume qi but instead had cooldowns and limited durations... this skill had neither. Instead, it could remain active for as long as Li Yu had enough qi to sustain it.
As for its practical applications, he could even camouflage himself from someone in the Foundation Establishment Realm.
However, the amount of qi required to maintain the skill against such an opponent would be enormous... far greater than what would be required against someone in the Qi Refining Realm.
If it were someone only in the Qi Gathering Realm or Body Refinement Realm, then the qi consumption would be almost negligible due to how much weaker they were compared to him. So it seemed this skill scaled according to both his energy reserves and the strength of whoever he was trying to hide from.
The second skill, Linear Blink, followed the same principle as Camouflage. As its name suggested, it allowed him to instantly move from one location to another in the blink of an eye. The only limitation was that he couldn’t blink through an animate object; that was a rather fatal drawback that he didn’t like at all.
Still, the two skills could definitely be considered extremely useful additions to his arsenal. There was no doubt that both would greatly boost his combat efficiency.
Although they consumed qi, he wasn’t particularly worried; he had plenty of qi to spare. Besides, this was still infinitely better than receiving something that would only give him another headache, such as another cursed title.
Speaking of the cursed title, Li Yu turned his gaze to his two titles, and they were both still upgrading. He didn’t know how long they had been stuck there, but he had no good feeling about this.
After all, if Devouring Debt really reached a whole new height, then without any doubt there would be a great headache waiting for him. He sighed as he shook his head; he was in a happy mood right now. There was no way he was going to let his cursed titles ruin his happy mood, so he dispelled the system interface and continued on his journey.
The voice of the system rang in his mind, sounding curious: "Host, you seem to be in a rather pleasant mood today. What is the source of your happiness?" the system asked, sounding like a gossip buddy.
Li Yu just shook his head as he replied, "Well, nothing much. It’s just that I’m going to be fighting some strong people soon... or at least I hope they are powerful." The thought of breaking the bones of the so-called all-powerful geniuses of the two great clans that had caused him a great deal of trouble back during his years as the failure heir made his grin widen.
He couldn’t wait to crush them and show everyone present who the real failure was. "I am going to break some bones soon, Sys... worthy bones worth breaking. Isn’t that worth celebrating?" Li Yu grinned. The system went silent, not commenting.
Li Yu only grinned harder as he dashed forward. He needed to make it to the tournament before it began. Meanwhile, what Li Yu didn’t know was that the tournament was already underway... and one candidate from the Li Clan had already been defeated, and it was not in any good way.

"Li Xie!" Li Jie shouted as he saw his younger brother sent flying out of the ring, crashing into the side of one of the massive pillars supporting the Ray Arena before completely passing out.
The good news was that the physicians who had already been stationed nearby quickly rushed forward and started treating him.
Li Jie felt like his world had suddenly become silent as he remembered the look on his brother’s face at the very end before that bastard punched him deep into the wall.
"I challenge you... come onto the stage." Li Jie didn’t even act as if he had heard Guan Xiu’s words. Instead, he started walking toward the side where his brother was being treated. It was against the rules to leave their post until the tournament was finished, but seeing the pained look on his face, none of the cultivators stationed nearby had the heart to stop him.
Soon Li Jie reached his brother and knelt down beside him. He was still breathing. Seeing that, he was relieved. Although, apart from the fact that he was still breathing once in a while... which was the only sign that he wasn’t dead... he looked like nothing more than a bloody corpse.
"Don’t worry, young man. We are experts at this. Your brother will be safe," one of the physicians tried to console Li Jie. Li Jie didn’t even look at them. Instead, he gently cleaned the blood from his brother’s battered face and looked at him with a solemn gaze.
His last words kept ringing in Li Jie’s mind: "I tried my best." He really did try. No one, as far as Li Jie knew, had ever been known to do what his younger brother had just accomplished.
Despite being an entire realm below his opponent, Li Xie had forced one of the Shi Clan’s strongest geniuses to bleed. That alone was enough to earn anyone’s respect.
He smiled slightly as he kissed his brother’s forehead.
"You tried your best, little bro." With that, he stood up and started walking toward the large battle stage where the lady from the Guan Clan was still standing. Seeing him step onto the stage, she flashed him a seductive smile, although her words were dark and oozing with ill intentions.
"I thought you were going to admit defeat... or let me guess, you love your brother so much that you’re willing to end up just like him." Li Jie didn’t reply. Instead, he slowly drew out his weapons as he looked up at her. Guan Xiu couldn’t help but be slightly taken aback by his gaze.
They were devoid of emotion... no, not devoid. There was emotion in them, but it wasn’t something one could easily see. It was anger. Not the type that burned hot and was openly displayed. No, it was a calm, silent anger... the greatest and most dangerous kind of anger.
There was no doubt about it: he was very, very angry. Li Jie turned his gaze toward the referee as he spoke, "I am ready." The referee finally came back from his brief trance as he stepped forward: "Okay, now that the two candidates are ready..."
He quickly introduced the two contestants: "Li Jie, the older of the anomaly brothers of the Li Clan... versus Guan Xiu, the beauty of the Guan Clan." After introducing the two, he raised his hand before declaring, "Now... let the match begin!"
Guan Xiu brought out her weapon of choice, a pair of hand fans with razor-sharp bladed edges. Li Jie gripped his two short swords, his gaze darkening slightly as he crossed the blades before him. Guan Xiu looked at him with amusement.
Her assumption had been right: Li Jie wasn’t trying to simply leave a mark on his opponent like his brother had. No, he was going to defeat Guan Xiu... and then avenge his brother by taking down Shi Lan.
He exhaled slightly before speaking, his voice deep and calm, "Phantom Strike Art... Phantom Crossing."
