Chapter 133: Just Slaps
Chapter 133
The hearts of the twin fiends stumbled at the same time as the two brothers felt weak and powerless. Their knees trembled as they felt the greatest urge to turn tail and flee.
Over the past twenty minutes that they had been facing the totally unserious Liyu, who only evaded and countered without even looking up at them or throwing an attack of his own volition, they had come to a realization they would never have believed before this.
This monster called Liyu... was an absolute freak. He was able to dodge and take all of their skills with little to no movement at all. They had gone from being serious... to more serious... to their utmost seriousness.
From holding slightly back... to going all out... to fighting beyond their normal limits... and yet it all returned to the same conclusion. They were totally unable to leave even a single scratch on him.
Guan Feng and Guan Jian didn’t even realise it, but sweat had already soaked their backs as they looked at Liyu, who was now cracking his knuckles with a warm smile on his face, as if he merely wanted to have fun with his friends and wasn’t planning to fight two powerful cultivators.
Guan Jian felt the overwhelming urge to turn tail and flee, and he almost did just that. But then shame washed over him, and he felt utterly disgusted with himself. After all, he had been among those who harshly rebuked Guan Xiu when she had almost lost to Li Jie.
He had also felt completely indignant and extremely unhappy with Guan Xiu for losing miserably against Li Feng. And now here he was, wanting to run before his opponent had even thrown a single attack. This was simply too shameful.
Feeling deeply ashamed of himself, he spat angrily as rage surged through him. His eyes turned bloodshot as he glared at Liyu, "You might have some flashy movement technique that makes it impossible for you to be hit, but trust me... you won’t be able to win this battle!"
He turned towards his brother, "Feng! Let’s use the Turtle Spin Formation!" Guan Feng, who had also been on the verge of turning tail and fleeing, heard his brother’s words, and his courage returned. His eyes shone brightly as he nodded.
The two brothers stood side by side with their weapons unsheathed, their refined qi surging through their bodies to strengthen them to the absolute limit. Their eyes brimmed with brutality and determination. No matter what, they refused to surrender or lose.
Seeing this, Liyu couldn’t help but chuckle to himself at the stupidity of the two brothers. He didn’t waste time talking, as his hands would do the talking instead. Liyu shot forward like a bolt of lightning, charging straight at the two brothers. "Now, Jian!"
Guan Feng shouted. He twisted his body, stepping behind Guan Jian while pushing him forward. Guan Jian swung his massive battle axe through the air towards the rapidly approaching Liyu.
At such close range, with the momentum of both Guan Jian’s swing and Liyu’s own charge, anyone else would have been split in half or at the very least gravely wounded. As Liyu saw the axe descending, his eyes shone.
The axe was overflowing with refined qi, making its power even greater due to the terrifying momentum behind it. Yet his expression remained calm, "It is still pointless."
He stepped forward instead of retreating. His hand, coated in refined qi to protect it, slapped the incoming battle axe aside as casually as though he were brushing away a tree branch.
Bang! The terrifying force jolted Guan Jian’s arms violently upward, completely throwing his stance into chaos. Liyu smiled, "Art of Face Slapping... First Form... First Slap." His palm swung open. PAAAH! A loud explosion echoed across the arena as the still-shocked Guan Jian was sent soaring into the air like a cannonball.
Guan Feng’s eyes widened in disbelief. He had never anticipated such a ridiculous outcome. Still, he reacted quickly, thrusting forward with the hope of landing at least one decisive blow, "Bear Pierce!" Yet before he could complete the technique... an iron grip suddenly locked around his wrist.
His attack came to an abrupt stop. Liyu shook his head, "No... It’s my turn." The moment those words fell... he tightened his grip. Crack! Guan Feng’s wrist snapped instantly. A horrifying pain surged through his entire body, making him tremble violently.
Before he could even scream... PAAAH! Another devastating slap smashed into his face. His jaws slammed together with enough force to almost shatter his teeth as he was launched flying towards his brother, who had only been sent airborne moments earlier.
The two Guan brothers floated helplessly in the air. Their minds were blank from the overwhelming pain and shock. Then... they heard a voice. A devilish voice. The two brothers forced their eyes open and saw Liyu smiling warmly at them.
Their hearts trembled the moment they saw that familiar smile. That smile... it looked warm. Yet to them, it was the smile of a devil. Both brothers instinctively wanted to surrender. They wanted to shout that they gave up. But would Liyu allow that? No. He wasn’t going to. "Second Form... Multi Slap..."
Liyu’s hands had already begun to move before the twin fiends could even come to terms with the nightmare that was about to descend upon them.
The multiple slaps landed all over their faces, their necks, their bodies, their arms, and every other part of them, but their faces remained the foremost target.
Several loud bangs echoed throughout the arena as the two brothers wanted to scream, yet their mouths had already been slapped shut. They couldn’t even open them anymore as they could only pray and beg for this beating to finally end.
Liyu, however, was not a merciful person by any means. His hands, coated in qi, continued to rain down more and more brutal slaps upon them without the slightest hesitation. The beating could only be described in one word and one word alone... absolute torture.
After a while, he was finally done. Liyu landed calmly back onto the battle stage as if he had merely finished a casual stroll. He snapped his fingers. Bang! Bang! The two Guan brothers crashed onto the battle stage like broken puppets whose strings had been cut. Neither of them got back up.
The arena fell silent. Totally silent. Deafeningly silent. Every single person watching the battle stood frozen, their eyes locked on the two unconscious brothers lying motionless on the stage.
They had already witnessed how Liyu dealt with Shi Lan, and they could only describe that battle with one word... terrifying. Most of them had believed, and wholeheartedly agreed, that he had done that to avenge Li Yuexin after Shi Lan had inflicted such grievous injuries upon her.
But after witnessing how he had dealt with the Twin Fiends... they realised they had been wrong all along. This Liyu... he was simply that cruel. He was simply that ruthless. Anyone who dared to stand opposite him would inevitably receive that same notorious beating of his.
And the most terrifying part... he carried out every single strike while maintaining that calm, playful smile on his face, as though everything happening before him was nothing more than harmless fun.
The crowd was too stunned to speak.
Their minds struggled to process what they had just witnessed. How... how had Liyu ended the battle in less than two minutes? The very moment he finally decided to move... No... Not "as if."
The Twin Fiends had already been declared the losers the instant he made his move. Within only a few exchanges and a storm of merciless slaps, he had completely crushed them. And to make that ridiculous feat even more unbelievable... he had done everything with nothing more than ordinary slaps.
The entire crowd sucked in deep breaths one after another as many of them felt their legs growing weak. Some even felt as though they were about to faint from the sheer absurdity and overwhelming shock of what they had just witnessed.
The referee himself was no different. In fact, he was so stunned that it took him several seconds before he finally managed to recover his senses. He had believed that Liyu would lose.
Yes, he had secretly placed some coins on the kid after seeing his previous performance. But that was merely because he thought there was a tiny, almost nonexistent chance that Liyu might somehow pull off another miracle.
Yet... that was exactly what the kid had done. And he had done it in such an utterly ridiculous fashion that the referee couldn’t help but wonder... just where had this monster called Liyu come from? The referee took a deep breath before slowly walking onto the stage.
He first checked on the two Guan brothers. The fact that neither of them had moved for over a minute already told him that they had most likely been completely defeated. Still, he wanted to confirm it for himself. He bent down and turned over the first brother’s face.
The next instant... he nearly coughed in shock. The faces of the Twin Fiends had been completely... utterly... deformed. It looked as though powerful titans had trampled across their faces before using them as raw materials to forge calamity-grade blades.
Their cheeks were swollen beyond recognition. Their noses had collapsed. Their lips were split. Their jaws were crooked. The deformity covering both of their faces was so severe that even their own parents might struggle to recognise them at first glance. It was brutal. Extremely brutal.
The referee slowly turned his head toward Liyu. The shock within his eyes could no longer be concealed as one thought continuously echoed throughout his mind. How?
He had personally witnessed every single move. Liyu had used nothing but ordinary slaps to defeat the Twin Fiends. Not fists. Not a powerful combat art. Not some terrifying spirit weapon. Just... slaps.
Everyone present had seen it with their own eyes. Yet how in the world was a slap delivered by nothing more than a First Stage Qi Gathering cultivator supposed to leave behind injuries this horrifying?
Even a full-powered qi punch from a late-stage or even some peak-stage Qi Refining cultivators might not be able to achieve the same effect. The ref calmed his racing mind and took a deep breath.
Yes... this guy was a monstrous genius, unlike anyone that had fought so far. Still only at the first stage of the Qi Gathering Realm, and yet his power was comparable to that of a peak-stage Qi Refining cultivator.
Just thinking about it made him want to groan at the sheer absurdity of it all. Still, being a powerful Bronze Realm expert, he quickly composed himself and stood up, "The battle between the Twin Fiends and the Honored One has ended. The victory goes to the Honored One!" he declared.
Following that... silence. The silence only lasted for a few seconds before the crowd collectively gasped in shock, and soon after, cheers erupted. The crowd clapped and cheered for Liyu.
Well... not everyone. Some were still reeling from the sheer shock of what had just happened, but most had finally recovered. They had written the Li Clan off as the first clan to be disqualified, especially after the defeat of the Battle Princess.
But now... seeing that Liyu had taken down three people... something even greater than what the Battle Princess had accomplished... and had done so within such a short time frame as well... they all started to realise one thing.
The greatest genius to appear within the Li Clan was not the Battle Princess, as everyone had previously guessed... it was actually the Li heir... Li Yu.
At the seat of the leaders... Guan Ju’s gaze turned completely dark and gloomy as he looked at Liyu with undisguised hatred. Hidden deep within those eyes was another emotion as well... wariness.
Someone possessing so much power while still only being at the first stage of the Qi Gathering Realm was something he had never thought possible. It shattered every known piece of logic.
And yet... since they were all witnessing it with their own eyes, there was no denying the truth. Liyu possessed the strength of a peak-level Qi Refining cultivator while still remaining at the very first stage of the Qi Gathering Realm. Just thinking about it alone was enough to give someone a migraine.
How in heaven’s sake was that supposed to make any sense? Just how powerful was he going to become once he stepped into the Qi Refining Realm? What about the Foundation Realm? What about the Bronze Core Realm? There was no doubt about it.
This Liyu kid was more of a threat than anyone else from the Li Clan. And threats like him needed to be cut off before they could grow beyond all normal means. His gaze flashed as killing intent flickered within it. It disappeared just as quickly.
Because the moment Li San sensed even the slightest trace of killing intent directed at his beloved cousin... he would tear him apart. And Guan Ju was no fool. He had no intention of provoking the wrath of a Silver Core expert like Li San.
He leaned back into his seat, feeling tired and annoyed. Now that the Twin Fiends had lost, the huge 300,000 gold coins he had bet on them had all gone to waste just like that. As if making him lose face wasn’t enough... that Liyu bastard just had to make him lose so much money as well.
I hate this kid even more than Li San now, Guan Ju thought as he looked at Liyu, who was still smiling calmly, his gaze tranquil, his expression unbelievably relaxed, as if the outcome of the entire tournament was already in his hands.
Let’s see if you can still keep that arrogance of yours when you face the Iron Behemoth. Guan Ju’s eyes flashed with a trace of mockery. If Liyu won his next match, then he would most certainly face Haoran next.
And then... he would finally experience firsthand what it truly meant to be weak and powerless. Guan Ju relaxed further into his seat, a faint smile curling onto his lips. The kid would lose anyway. There was no need to stress over it.
The other clan lords each had their own thoughts. Shi Gubing was slightly furious over the fact that he had lost more gold coins yet again. They weren’t an enormous amount... but they were still something.
And losing them stung. Losing twice in a row made it sting even more. He looked at Liyu, and the hatred he felt towards the Li Clan brat had grown even greater than before. Still... he hoped the kid would challenge Shi Tian and finally realise that he wasn’t as invincible as he believed himself to be.
Because the moment he stood on the stage opposite someone as notorious as Shi Tian... the one who would be powerless... would be Liyu. The one who would suffer an intense beating... would be Liyu.
And the one whose clan’s face would be dragged through the mud alongside his own... would also be Liyu. Shi Gubing didn’t have even the slightest shred of doubt in his mind.
The moment Liyu called out Shi Tian to fight... his fate would already be sealed. He would lose. Without even the smallest hope of victory.
