Chapter 108

The Ray Arena was silent once again as everyone stared at the scene before them with visible disbelief etched across their faces.

That was true for the cultivators who had seen just how fast the situation had taken a turn and the fact that Li Feng hadn’t lost, while the non-cultivators, who made up the larger percentage of the crowd, were too stunned to even process what had happened as their minds were still trying to catch up to the insane speed at which the situation seemed to have shifted.

At the seat of the leaders, Shi Gubing’s gaze hardened as confusion flickered in his eyes... how did that kid move that fast? He couldn’t put a finger on it, but he could tell that the kid had moved at a terrifying speed, a speed that surpassed what someone in the Qi Gathering Realm should even come anywhere close to possessing.

But that wasn’t the only thing; his aura was far more potent. If Shi Gubing didn’t know better, he would have believed that the kid had managed to break through from the Qi Gathering Realm all the way into the Qi Refining Realm.

But that was far from being possible, and of course that wasn’t what had happened; instead, the kid’s aura was really far from weak... it seemed to be burning fiercely with immense intensity, fierce and sharp like the wind, while at the same time calm and composed like the surface of the sea.

It was weird; he couldn’t quite put a hand on it.

Elder Ting’s gaze changed slightly as his mind wandered to something... could that kid possibly be using Flow? He wondered, then shook his head. No... that was impossible.

Before anyone could even step into the State of Flow, they had to at least be an extraordinary talent beyond extraordinary talents, and they also had to be at least in the Core Stage. After all, what was the legendary State of Flow?

It was a state achieved by attaining perfect synchronization with oneself; mind, body, and soul would all work in complete harmony and perfect tandem with the world’s energy.

Doing so would push a cultivator far beyond what they could have ever dreamed of achieving, as it put the mind at peace, boosted the soul beyond measure, and elevated the body to entirely new heights.

With the State of Flow, someone at the First Stage of the Silver Core Realm would have no problem holding their own against an opponent at the peak of the Silver Core Realm.

There was a reason it was called a legendary state; only three others had ever achieved it, and all of them were truly remarkable individuals whose talents bordered on the impossible.

After all, the State of Flow was not something that could be learned or mastered through simple practice; it was something one awakened to, something that demanded countless attempts before even beginning to comprehend it.

The lowest realm anyone had ever managed to attain the State of Flow in, throughout all of Elder Ting’s long years of living, was the Peak Silver Core Realm, and even that person had been an existence beyond exceptional... after all, even among Golden Core cultivators, very few could ever come close to touching that state.

Even Elder Ting himself, as exceptional as he was, had never achieved the State of Flow, and here he was, almost believing that a kid who was only at the Late Stage of the Qi Gathering Realm had managed to achieve it. He shook his head once more; he really was just overthinking things.

Li San’s thoughts were different. Seeing his son right now and the overwhelming yet perfectly controlled aura surrounding him, he couldn’t help but smile, his eyes shining with quiet pride: "He has done it... he has managed to achieve the State of Flow."

When Li San had decided to teach his son the Instinct Awakening Art, while it might have looked like learning the five basic forms was meant to help Li Feng win... and although that was slightly true... that wasn’t the main reason why he had made sure Li Feng learned the combat art.

Instead, it was because he hoped that one day Li Feng would be able to achieve the very state he was in right now: the State of Flow. His master, the one who had taught him the Instinct Awakening Art, had once said it: if the first five basic forms were learned, then there was a ten percent chance that a genius who mastered them could achieve the State of Flow.

If the seven advanced forms were also learned and mastered, then there was over a sixty percent chance that they would achieve the State of Flow sooner or later; and if they mastered every single form of the art.... the five basic forms, the seven advanced forms, and the final three... then they would undoubtedly achieve the State of Flow.

Li San had believed those words and, after tremendous effort, learned the first five basic forms himself, yet he never achieved the State of Flow.

So he had begun to wonder if it had all been a lie; after all, he had even learned two of the final three forms, meaning there was only one final form that he had yet to grasp, and still he hadn’t been able to enter the State of Flow.

Even now, he still hadn’t managed to step into that legendary state, yet his son had. He was shocked and impressed in equal measure.

Of course, he had taught Li Feng the five basic forms hoping that he would be able to achieve the State of Flow, but although there was only a ten percent chance, Li San hadn’t placed much hope in it; in fact, he hadn’t truly believed that Li Feng would actually pull it off and step into the State of Flow. But he had. "I am proud of you... well done, son." His smile never faded.

By now, the crowd whose minds had still been trying to catch up had finally processed what had happened, and deafening cheers erupted throughout the arena, loud and filled with excitement.

One thing had already become obvious: the clan the crowd supported in this tournament was the Li Clan, and anyone living in the Night Region knew exactly why, as the people loved the Li Clan and treated them far better than the other two great clans.

The people had been on edge as they watched one of the crowd favorites slowly begin to lose; they had all believed that Li Feng had already been defeated, and yet he had made an unbelievable comeback that shocked every single one of them.

The referee’s voice rang throughout the arena: "Would you look at that! The true genius of the Li Clan has shown us exactly why he is called a genius!

When we all thought he was down for the count, he simply got back up and delivered a strike that actually wounded the legendary red-haired genius of the Shi Clan! This is truly amazing... perhaps even more shocking than everything else we’ve witnessed today!"

Shi Yuan was still stunned as he carefully scanned Li Feng. After a while, he finally let out a sigh of relief... Li Feng wasn’t in the Qi Refining Realm as his eyes and senses had first told him; in fact, he was still only at the Seventh Stage of the Qi Gathering Realm, exactly as before.

But his qi... it was no longer the weak, unrefined qi that Qi Gathering cultivators possessed; instead, it almost seemed like refined qi... or, no, it seemed to be something even greater than that. That realization greatly shook Shi Yuan.

What is this? Shi Yuan was genuinely shocked, and there was every reason to be: the amount of energy radiating from Li Feng was nothing short of extraordinary. It rivaled his own... no, not in quantity, as there was still a noticeable difference in quantity... but in terms of quality, it seemed to have surpassed even his own refined qi.

Something like that was absolutely unbelievable. Still, he forcefully calmed himself down; he shouldn’t be afraid. How could he possibly fear an opponent weaker than himself?

Though... Li Feng no longer looked weak at all. Even so, he couldn’t allow himself to show even the slightest hint of hesitation. His usual smile returned as he asked in a taunting tone, "I had no idea you still had another card to play.

Since you did... why did you let yourself get thrashed around like that?" He tilted his head, his smile darkening into something dangerous. "Or tell me... do you enjoy getting beaten up? If you do, I don’t mind helping you get beaten a little more."

Shi Yuan spoke, deliberately trying to provoke Li Feng into rushing at him. But Li Feng didn’t so much as spare him a glance... well, the black cloth was still covering his eyes, so he couldn’t have looked at him anyway... but he acted as though Shi Yuan wasn’t even there.

Instead, he continued staring at his own hands, almost as though he had been given an entirely new body.

From an outsider’s perspective, that was exactly how it looked, and in truth, that was precisely what Li Feng was thinking. *I feel... different.* He couldn’t help but mutter, his tone carrying a trace of confusion.

He looked down at his hands, then he looked toward his opponent; at that moment, it felt as though Shi Yuan’s secrets and qi were laid completely bare before him.

He could see him... not in the normal sense, since he still couldn’t actually see anything with his eyes... but he could clearly perceive Shi Yuan’s silhouette and the qi flowing throughout his entire body with astonishing clarity.

Li Feng couldn’t help but be stunned by what he was witnessing. "If I can see it..." He thought as he looked at the qi surrounding him, and a bold idea suddenly flashed through his mind. He slowly stretched out his hand, and then it happened.

The qi around him surged toward him, rushing into his body; waves of intoxicating strength flooded through his entire being, making him feel far more powerful than he had ever felt before. "I can control it..."

He thought in utter shock. After a while, however, that shock gradually turned into joy: if he could truly harness the world’s qi, then winning this tournament no longer seemed impossible.

Li Feng was still sorting through his thoughts, slowly calculating and matching the potential of what he was currently capable of, when his senses suddenly screamed of danger. Yet before his thoughts could even catch up, his body had already moved on its own.

The qi-infused punch slammed into empty air; Li Feng had already left the spot where the strike landed. Shi Yuan’s gaze flickered with disbelief... he had attacked at his full speed.

Still... he convinced himself it had been nothing more than a fluke. What else could it possibly be? So he attacked again, hoping to strike Li Feng faster than he could ever react, yet once again, Li Feng’s body flowed smoothly with perfect grace; his balance never broke as he effortlessly dodged the attack.

Then he dodged the next one, and then the next, and then another, and another. Soon, the two figures were moving all across the battle stage; one attacked with vigor and immense surges of qi, striking over and over without pause, while the other... someone who was supposedly weaker... continued evading every single attack with smooth, perfect movements.

His expression never changed as he dodged one strike after another; it all seemed almost effortless. Shi Yuan’s eyes widened more and more, disbelief completely filling his face... "how the hell is he avoiding all of them? How...? How... how...?"

His mind swirled with utter disbelief as he attacked faster and faster, pouring even more strength into every strike, yet he simply couldn’t hit Li Feng.

Li Feng himself was equally stunned, yet his body didn’t tense up or become alarmed; in fact, despite knowing he should be under tremendous pressure, his body remained calm and perfectly composed. It was almost as though nothing in the world could disturb him or make him panic.

Every single movement Shi Yuan made, he could perceive perfectly within the strange world that had become nothing but black and white. *He is slow...* Li Feng couldn’t help but think.

The next instant, his figure blurred; he effortlessly slipped past one of Shi Yuan’s strikes, and before Shi Yuan could even raise his guard, a powerful kick smashed across his mouth. Shi Yuan was sent flying across the stage once again.

He finally came to a halt, another crimson line trickling down from the corner of his mouth; the force behind that kick was so overwhelming that it left him utterly shocked. His mind refused to accept what was happening.

"This wasn’t supposed to be reality. How the hell is someone in the Qi Gathering Realm this fast...? And this strong...? How...?"

He wasn’t the only one whose mind had been shaken beyond belief. Elder Ting, who had remained seated throughout the entire battle, suddenly trembled violently. His eyes widened in pure disbelief before he abruptly shot up from his seat, his entire body tingling.

"Tell me I’m seeing things..." he muttered, his voice trembling. "Tell me I’m dreaming... Isn’t that... the legendary State of Flow?"
