Chapter 320.1: Qi Yuan Tries Hard, But Technique Refuses
When the two didn't move, Qi Yuan assumed they were slacking. He reminded them again, "Why are you standing there? Hurry up and bury my precious white moonlights."
An Qiao asked hesitantly, "W-were you the one who killed these demons?"
The man in black also stared at Qi Yuan, shock written all over his face.
Qi Yuan replied calmly, "Of course. Stop slacking and bury them quickly."
An Qiao looked at the corpses on the ground, utterly shaken. "Th-this..."
She simply couldn’t understand it. Wasn’t Qi Yuan supposed to be a newcomer? How did he massacre these demons so savagely?
An Qiao originally wanted to say more, but her colleague shot her a look. Clearly, Qi Yuan was no ordinary person. He was practically a god of slaughter. What if he decided to kill them, too?
With that thought, they obediently burned and buried the demons. Qi Yuan stood nearby, directing them like a remote commander.
After a while, Qi Yuan asked, "Who was that lunatic just now?"
He was quite curious about that Jade Blood realm madman.
An Qiao shook her head. "We don’t know. While investigating the Chen family, we discovered him. We suspected he was connected to the massacre and followed him. But he was insanely strong, so getting too close wasn’t an option. Tracking him from a distance with tools was the only choice."
"He might be connected to the mission?" Qi Yuan fell silent for a moment. "Haa... It’s been so long, and we still don't have a single clue. This mission is way too hard. I don’t even feel like doing it anymore. I just want to use cheats."
He was already losing interest. After half a day of effort, all he had learned was about the Spirit Blood Child. The massacre of the Luo and Chen families remained unresolved.
As expected, mystery-solving games didn’t suit him. Farming monsters was what he excelled at. All he had to do was find the boss, such as Elder Kun. Hunting bosses was so much simpler and more efficient.
Qi Yuan asked, "What happens if I don’t finish the mission?"
An Qiao replied, "There’ll be no reward."
Qi Yuan was delighted. "Huh? No punishment? So I don't have to complete it?"
In that case, he could just assign himself a new mission: wipe out Elder Kun.
An Qiao's expression turned serious. "If you don’t complete the mission, you won't be able to return. Staying too long in the Mission Worlds will contaminate our blood martial qi. We’ll eventually go mad and die."
She recalled a past mission where one of her companions fell in love with a scholar and refused to leave. In the end, she went insane and ultimately lost her life. That incident had left a deep mark on An Qiao.
Qi Yuan shrugged. "What kind of ridiculous rule is that?"
It seemed abandoning the mission wasn’t an option after all.
"Any new clues?" he asked.
An Qiao answered honestly, "No. That lunatic might know something."
When they saw him, he was wailing outside the Chen Residence. They didn’t dare approach him since it would be disastrous to lose their lives before even completing the mission.
Qi Yuan nodded. "Who has the best information network in Yunyan County?"
Since he couldn't get any mission prompt as a freeloader here, he might as well go straight to the best informant.
An Qiao hesitated, fear flashing in her eyes. "Elder Kun of the aquatic clan."
Elder Kun was a Jade Blood great demon. Their four-person squad from the Demon-Slaying Bureau would have little chance of surviving if they encountered him. Hence, even though they suspected the aquatic clan, they didn’t dare approach him directly.
"Where is he?" Qi Yuan asked.
Despite having endured all sorts of humiliation in the white moonlight gathering, he still failed to get the address from Elder Huang. It made him quite upset.
"I don't know." She shook her head, then added quickly, "Be careful, though. Elder Kun despises humans. Anyone who enters his territory is devoured alive."
Qi Yuan uttered seriously, "Oh, so evil? Then he's definitely the big boss. I suspect he’s behind both massacres."
An Qiao was speechless.
The man in black laughed awkwardly. "If that’s true, we’re in trouble."
He really wanted to say that Qi Yuan shouldn't jump to conclusions so casually, without any evidence.
Qi Yuan sighed. "Too bad there’s no internet here. Otherwise, I’d definitely write an exposé about him."
After all, those online exposés were very effective. Back when he destroyed the Bright Palace, his exposé had played a huge role.
"Alright, I’m off to grind monsters. See you."
He then vanished.
In Yunyan County, there were three major factions: the weasels, the snakes, and the aquatic clan.
Not only had the weasels been wiped out, but Elder Kun was nowhere to be found as well. Naturally, Qi Yuan went to find the snakes. Though they couldn’t give him EXP like his proper white moonlights, they could still provide him with blood.
An Qiao and her colleague took a deep breath as they watched Qi Yuan leave.
"How can a newcomer be that powerful? At minimum, he’s at peak Qi Blood realm!"
"Maybe he really is a genius?"
There were certainly martial prodigies in this world. Their team wasn’t particularly strong; even Chen Fan could barely be considered talented. Qi Yuan surpassed them all, attaining the peak of the Qi Blood realm before ever completing a mission.
"Haa... I shouldn’t have given him the Heaven-Shocking Art. It’s incomplete. If he wants to reach the Jade Blood realm, he’ll probably have to switch cultivation techniques."
