Chapter 398 - 397: Scammer?
The Celestial Dragon Treasure released waves of light, completely enveloping him before surging into his body. A moment later, the light vanished.
After the light disappeared, Yi Tianyun immediately felt as if he had become one with the Celestial Dragon Treasure, able to control its power at will. The development stunned him. He never expected this to happen; it was completely beyond his expectations.
’I only just touched it. I didn’t even do a blood-binding ritual or anything, and it’s already accepted me as its master?’
"What’s going on?" Yi Tianyun asked in confusion.
"You... you successfully bonded with it... How did you do it?" Ren Zhirou hurried over, her eyes filled with shock.
"I’m not sure either..." Yi Tianyun said, at a loss. He had only wanted to touch it and feel the energy flowing within. Who knew he would actually succeed in bonding with it?
"Well, give it a try! Can you really control the Celestial Dragon Treasure?" Ren Zhirou said.
Yi Tianyun nodded. He reached out and clenched his fist, and the Celestial Dragon Treasure immediately released a burst of light. It instantly enveloped him, forming a tough-looking, indestructible shield around his body.
"You really can control the Celestial Dragon Treasure... It’s incredible..." Ren Zhirou stared, dumbfounded. Even though she had already sensed that he had bonded with it, seeing him actually control it still left her stunned.
Even the Dragon Chancellor, who possessed the Celestial Dragon Bloodline, couldn’t control the Celestial Dragon Treasure. Yet Yi Tianyun, an outsider, had managed to bond with it. It was simply unbelievable!
’Could it be my Dragon God Bloodline?’ Yi Tianyun immediately suspected his bloodline was the cause. If it wasn’t the Dragon God Bloodline, he couldn’t think of any other explanation.
’When I killed the Celestial Dragon Remains, I gained experience and this Dragon God Bloodline. This must mean the Dragon God Bloodline is a dominant Bloodline Power, equivalent to a Venerable Dragon Race Bloodline. With that, how could I possibly be unable to control the Celestial Dragon Treasure?’
’Especially now that it’s reached the Fifth Grade. Even though it’s not fully leveled up, its potency is already very high. It wouldn’t be able to unleash such immense power if its potency were low.’
While he was speculating, Ren Zhirou smiled. "This is truly amazing. My older brother will definitely be shocked when I tell him. By these rules, it’s like you’re truly one of the Celestial Dragon Empire’s own. With three people controlling the Celestial Dragon Treasure, we’ll surely be able to unleash even greater power!"
"Three people can control it at once? Won’t that disperse its power?" Yi Tianyun asked doubtfully.
"Of course not," Ren Zhirou said with a smile. "We can’t bring out the Celestial Dragon Treasure’s full power at all—only a small fraction. It’s likely because our own strength is insufficient to unleash its full potential. If our cultivation or Bloodline Power were stronger, the results would be different."
Yi Tianyun nodded. ’That makes sense,’ he thought. ’It’s just like any other Cultivator with a powerful weapon. If their cultivation is too low, they can’t unleash the full power of a Sacred Artifact or Soul Artifact, only a small fraction of it.’
"This was unexpected. I just came in to take a look," Yi Tianyun said, shaking his head.
"Isn’t this a good thing? It proves you’re truly one of us in the Celestial Dragon Empire!" Ren Zhirou smiled sweetly, clearly delighted. "I’ll go tell my brother right away. With three of us controlling the Celestial Dragon Treasure, we can definitely stabilize everything!"
Yi Tianyun nodded and walked with her toward the exit. However, he didn’t leave with her, deciding to stay behind instead. He had no authority over court affairs, so it was best to let Ren Zhirou and the others handle it. He had no desire to stand by and listen in.
’I almost forgot, I still have that Fourth-Grade Dragon God Bloodline to absorb. I wonder how much experience it’s worth.’ He had nearly forgotten about the Dragon God Bloodline he had obtained from killing General Long. Absorbing it would help level up his main Dragon God Bloodline.
This Fourth-Grade Dragon God Bloodline wouldn’t be enough for a full upgrade, but he was curious to see how much experience it would provide.
"Successfully fused with Dragon God Bloodline (Fourth Grade). Gained 1,000,000 Experience."
With the chime, he successfully gained one million experience points. Upgrading from Fifth Grade to Sixth Grade required five million Madness Value, a hefty price. Based on his current Madness Value, he could afford the upgrade.
However, he would rather use the Madness Value to upgrade his Madness Mode. That was his most fundamental power, capable of amplifying so many other abilities. It had to be his priority.
’Not bad. One million experience points. That shaves one million off the upgrade cost,’ Yi Tianyun thought, quite satisfied. Contentment brings happiness, after all, so he felt this was a great outcome.
Next, he moved on to the lottery draw. He had earned a chance and certainly wasn’t going to let it go to waste.
After activating his Luck Aura, the lottery wheel immediately began to spin rapidly. Soon, the pointer finally came to a stop on the "Consumables" section.
’I activated my Luck Aura, and I still got a consumable...’
Yi Tianyun was at a loss for words. With a soft CLUNK, a Jade Box rolled into his inventory. When he opened it, a system notification chimed.
"Ding! Congratulations, you have obtained a Thirty-Fold Experience Card!"
’Not bad, a Thirty-Fold Experience Card.’ Yi Tianyun smacked his lips. It was a decent prize, certainly better than an Experience Elixir. Used on a Void Spirit Stage expert, a Thirty-Fold Experience Card would yield an astonishing amount of experience.
The only issue was the price; they were too expensive for him to buy from the shop, especially since he was saving up to upgrade his Madness Mode.
After the lottery draw, he had nothing else to do. There was no point in just hanging around.
’Since I have some time, I’ll head over to the auction house and see if they have any Soul-Nourishing Grass for sale.’
Since he had nothing better to do, Yi Tianyun set off for the Imperial City without saying goodbye to Ren Zhirou and the others. Before he left, he saw them deep in a heated discussion inside the palace and decided not to get involved.
He soon found a Treasure Tower in the Imperial City, its name quite bold: the Celestial Dragon Treasure Tower!
It wasn’t actually run by the Celestial Dragon Empire; it had simply borrowed the name for prestige. As he looked around, he saw many similar examples, from "Celestial Dragon Pancakes" to the "Celestial Dragon Weapon Shop"—a wide variety of businesses capitalizing on the name.
As soon as he entered, someone came up to greet him with a sweet smile.
"How may I help you, Sir?" the female Attendant asked as she approached.
"Do you have any Soul-Nourishing Grass? I’m looking for Soul-Nourishing Grass," Yi Tianyun asked directly.
"Soul-Nourishing Grass... I’m very sorry, but we don’t have any," the female Attendant said apologetically.
’No Soul-Nourishing Grass, huh...’ Yi Tianyun shook his head. ’It seems the stuff is even rarer than I thought.’
Just as he was about to leave, a middle-aged man sidled up to him and whispered, "Hey, friend. I have some Soul-Nourishing Grass. Interested?"
Yi Tianyun paused. ’This isn’t a scam, is it?’ he wondered.
