With Yi Tianyun clearing the way by absorbing the Celestial Yin Fire ahead, the descending passage soon gave way to a level path that led straight forward. When he stepped onto it, his eyes were met with not only the terrifying Celestial Yin Fire, but also numerous Divine Rune Arrays in the distance, completely covering the ground and the surrounding walls.

Many of the Divine Runes along the walkway were now damaged. Even the runes on the walls were being frantically burned by the Celestial Yin Fire, destroyed bit by bit. In the very back stood two enormous phoenix statues—a true pair, one male and one female. The two Divine Beasts were suppressing a patch of land. A phoenix pair consists of a male and a female, so it was natural for two to be here. However, their power was not enough to completely suppress the Evil Soul. As a result, Celestial Yin Fire ceaselessly billowed from the ground, spreading in all directions.

As it spread, it constantly burned the surrounding Divine Runes, forcefully carving out a path.

"Is the suppressed Evil Soul beneath those phoenix statues?" Yi Tianyun could feel an extremely dangerous and terrifying aura surging toward him from the ground over there.

A dull THUD echoed, as if the beam had struck something, but there was no visible change.

"You think you can hurt me with a paltry attack like that? Have your ancestors come themselves; maybe they could scratch me. As for you, little one, go back and cultivate for a few more centuries!" the Evil Soul cackled, completely disregarding the attack.

"Insolent fiend!" The Great Elder’s face darkened. He turned to Yi Tianyun and said, "Look at these Divine Runes. Can you repair them? If we can restore the runes here, its power will be drastically weakened!"

"No problem." Yi Tianyun swiftly took out the Dragon Beard Divine Brush. With a flash in his eyes, he activated his Celestial Eye, and the surrounding Divine Rune Arrays were laid bare before him.

’The arrays here are indeed at the Divine Rune Grandmaster level. The difficulty is quite high. Without a certain level of skill, successfully repairing them would be almost impossible.’

But he was already prepared; this was no problem for him. After quickly clearing away the local Celestial Yin Fire, he immediately began Engraving Divine Patterns anew. The runes were repaired with impeccable speed.

"Break!" the Great Elder roared. He swung his cane down in a mighty smash, and a sharp blade of light cleaved the black mist in two!

A terrifying torrent of fire then engulfed the two halves, devouring the attack completely in the blink of an eye. The cane in the Great Elder’s hand was no longer a cane; it was now a Longsword—a Divine Artifact!

"Oh, not bad power. But can you keep up with the speed at which I destroy the Divine Runes? Let’s see if the person you brought repairs faster than I can destroy!" the Evil Soul cackled. The ground began to tremble and shake, and the Divine Runes started to dim.

It seemed the Evil Soul was beginning to unleash its full power, trying to break free from the seal completely!

"A contest of speed?" Yi Tianyun narrowed his eyes at the Evil Soul. He was certainly no match for it in terms of raw power. But when it came to a race involving Divine Runes, his Frenzied Engraving Mode had something to say about that.
