Chapter 520 - 519: Revenge
Men Hu was utterly terrified. Despite his high status and power, he knew he was a dead man. Shouting would be useless. Under normal circumstances, he could have unleashed a powerful roar to alert those outside.
But now, a longsword had pinned his spine. The bones in his body were incredibly brittle and were instantly shattered by the impact. This left him unable to call for help, much less launch an attack.
It all happened in an instant, completed before he even had a chance to resist.
Just then, Elder Luo and the others pushed open a door from the secret passage and entered. Had they come through the door normally, they would have surely been discovered. Yi Tianyun had used a combination of Instant Teleportation and Invisibility to execute the plan flawlessly.
Thankfully, his abilities were off cooldown. The cooldown time had been reduced after his recent level-up, so it had already finished by the time he snuck in.
The moment he saw Men Hu, all other plans went out the window. ’First, I’ll deal with Men Hu. Everything else can wait!’ He might not be a "good person," but there was no way he could ignore a scene like this.
’Men Hu... dealt with in a single blow... This... this is unbelievable...’
As they entered, they noticed a Sound Insulation Divine Pattern had been deployed. The speed was astonishing; they hadn’t even had time to process what was happening. More importantly, Men Hu had been killed instantly, which they found hard to believe. ’Can a Void Spirit expert, even with a surprise attack, really kill a Spirit King Stage expert so easily?’
Men Hu’s famously tough physique had proven so vulnerable. A closer look revealed that the sword piercing his back was of a high grade—a High-Grade Sacred Artifact. No wonder it had pierced Men Hu’s physique with such ease.
This was all far beyond their expectations. ’Even with a powerful weapon, it shouldn’t be this easy, right?’
Of course, Yi Tianyun had activated Madness Mode. He held nothing back, instantly unleashing his maximum damage—a staggering Combat Power of over five hundred million—to secure the one-hit kill.
He was aiming for a swift kill and wouldn’t tolerate the slightest delay.
The three elders swallowed hard, a chill running down their spines. ’If Yi Tianyun turned on us, we’d suffer the same fate.’ A third-level Spirit King Stage expert, killed just like that. They knew they wouldn’t have fared much better. And to think they had been planning to give their all to kill Men Hu.
It seemed they weren’t needed for the fight after all; their only job now was to rescue the captives.
"Quick, save them!" Yi Tianyun ordered in a low voice.
They nodded and immediately began the rescue. However, after a quick search of the area, their expressions grew increasingly grim.
"Haha, save them...? Don’t even think about it. They’re doomed. They’re beyond saving," Men Hu laughed, but his laughter was cut short by a sharp pain erupting from his abdomen.
A small knife had appeared in Yi Tianyun’s hand. He had stabbed Men Hu several times, forcing him to feel excruciating pain. Worse, a flame began to spread from the wounds, slowly burning his body from the inside.
For experts of their caliber, such wounds were normally trivial, but the relentless burning from this flame produced an unbearable agony.
"Don’t worry. You’ll be joining them in death soon enough!" Yi Tianyun’s gaze was frigid. ’Even if a man like him died ten thousand times, it wouldn’t be enough.’
"Kill... kill me! Kill me if you have the guts!" Men Hu knew he wasn’t going to survive. Rather than beg for mercy, he’d rather his opponent kill him and end the torment.
"Killing you so easily? That would be letting you off too lightly." Yi Tianyun slowly channeled the Immortal Fire, starting with Men Hu’s legs and letting it burn its way up.
All the while, he devoured the Spiritual Power within Men Hu’s body, converting it into his own experience points.
"Divine Envoy... Only three are still alive." They brought over three women, all of whom were on the brink of death. But upon seeing Men Hu’s fate, their eyes filled with vindictive joy.
"Th-thank you..." After being freed from their restraints, they gave Yi Tianyun a weak smile before promptly biting their own tongues, ending their lives. They were unwilling to go on living in this world.
They could have been healed and continued to live, but they didn’t want to. Their bodies had been defiled, they had endured unimaginable torture, and not a single inch of them was left unscathed. They were covered in wounds.
If they could have taken their own lives earlier, they would have, rather than clinging to a miserable existence.
One of them, a Cultivator from the Phoenix Race, also gave them a smile and whispered, "Thank you... The Phoenix Race thanks you..."
Elder Luo and the others quickly removed their masks, revealing their faces. "We are Elders! We came to rescue you!" he said urgently.
The woman from the Phoenix Race looked surprised to see them, but her expression quickly softened into a warm smile. "Elder... I knew you would come for us. But I can’t live much longer... and I don’t want to. I’m sorry..."
With that, she too took her own life, choosing not to live on.
They had endured too much torture and pain. If they were to live, they would be haunted daily by these agonizing memories.
Knowing that they were being avenged was enough for them; they didn’t wish for anything more.
"Bastard!"
They could only watch helplessly as their own people chose to die. Yi Tianyun looked on, his gaze growing even colder. He could have healed them, but they had lost all will to live. Even if he saved them, they would just kill themselves again.
The torment had lasted too long, leaving an indelible scar upon their souls. The mentally fragile would soon have broken down completely. Rather than live like that, it was better to choose suicide and end it all.
Elder Luo and the others clenched their fists, glaring at Men Hu with pure fury. "You bastard!"
When Men Hu saw Elder Luo and the others, he was stunned. "So it was you... How did you sneak in!?"
"Oh, we didn’t just sneak in. We’re going to slaughter every last one of you!" Yi Tianyun declared. "Your Celestial Nether Divine Kingdom has committed countless evils. I will deliver divine justice and wipe you out!"
"Hahaha... Divine justice? Your Phoenix Race doesn’t stand a chance! You’re all dead men walking... I’ll be waiting for you in hell!" Men Hu cackled, his eyes filled with deep resentment.
"AAAAHHHH..."
His taunt was short-lived, however, as he let out another bloodcurdling scream. Yi Tianyun had intensified the flames, increasing the speed of the burning and making the excruciating pain even more unbearable.
"Don’t worry, we won’t be joining you. But you’ll have plenty of company soon enough," Yi Tianyun said calmly. "Before that, though, be sure to savor this experience."
He had no intention of killing Men Hu right away. He had to let him properly "enjoy" this. A quick death would be too merciful.
Soon, he had drained all of Men Hu’s experience points. Men Hu was now a powerless husk, unable to fight back, unable even to take his own life.
"Don’t you want to have a turn?" Yi Tianyun asked, turning to Elder Luo and the others.
"Of course!"
Their eyes blazed with murderous intent. A wave of terror washed over Men Hu as he saw their expressions, and he could only imagine the horrific pain that awaited him.
