Just as a system notification sounded, a beam of light shot out from where the stone monument stood. It rushed toward the sky, but the light was quite soft, not the dazzling sort.

It looked like an ascension to the heavens, but no souls were visible—only a single beam of light that soared skyward, extending like a rainbow. It seemed to be thanking him, or perhaps, bidding him farewell.

The surrounding guards looked up at the sky, marveling at the scene. It looked as if some great treasure was manifesting. In reality, they didn’t see any treasure at all, only a light emanating from a tombstone, which was a peculiar sight.

A moment later, the light vanished completely. Everything returned to normal, as if nothing had changed.

"Mansion Master," the guard said, "the Spirit Race Ancestor has instructed me to ask you to see him as soon as you returned. He has an important matter to discuss with you."

"Understood." Yi Tianyun nodded and led the Little Phoenix inside.

As he walked inside holding the Little Phoenix’s hand, the surrounding guards exchanged glances. They couldn’t understand why the Mansion Master had brought a child back this time. He occasionally brought people back, but never a child.

"Daddy, where are we? It’s so pretty here!" the Little Phoenix asked, looking around with wide-eyed wonder, curious about this unfamiliar world.

She had been staying in his pet space the whole time, so she knew nothing about the outside world.

"This is my home. From now on, you can live here too," Yi Tianyun said with a smile.

He hadn’t walked far when he ran into Yi Yuwei and the others. When they saw Yi Tianyun with the little girl, their eyes lit up. "Mansion Master, you brought back a little girl! She’s so adorable! Let me hold her..."

Yi Yuwei reached out for a hug, but the Little Phoenix immediately ducked behind Yi Tianyun, glaring at her. "Stay away! I won’t let you hold me!"

"Just one little hug? I’ll take you to get some tasty treats," Yi Yuwei tried to entice her.

"No! I don’t want to! I’m staying with Daddy." The Little Phoenix was completely wary of strangers.

"Daddy...? He’s your daddy?" Yi Yuwei asked, pointing at Yi Tianyun in astonishment.

"Yes, he is! He’s my daddy!" the Little Phoenix declared, clutching Yi Tianyun’s arm tightly.

"Mansion Master... I always thought you were single. I never imagined you already had a child..." Yi Yuwei stumbled back a few steps, stunned by the revelation.

*Ahem*... "Don’t be ridiculous. It’s a long story." Yi Tianyun felt helpless. This form of address was certainly causing a huge misunderstanding.

Just then, Shi Xueyun walked out. Seeing the Little Phoenix, she asked curiously, "Tianyun, where did you pick up such a cute little girl? I thought you only brought back Cultivators. You’re not even sparing little girls now?" Shi Xueyun gave him an odd look.

When the Little Phoenix saw Shi Xueyun, her eyes lit up. She immediately rushed forward and threw her arms around her, shouting, "Mommy!"

Everyone passing by was dumbfounded. ’Isn’t the Palace Master forbidden from having a partner?’ That wasn’t even the most crucial part. The child appeared to be Yi Tianyun’s, and upon closer inspection, she even bore a slight resemblance to Shi Xueyun...

"You silly child, what nonsense are you spouting..." Shi Xueyun’s face flushed red, startled by the address.

"It’s Mommy’s scent! I smelled it on Daddy..." the Little Phoenix said with a brilliant smile. "I’m sure I’m not mistaken!"

Yi Tianyun was mortified. He did have some of Shi Xueyun’s scent on him, but he never expected the Little Phoenix to identify her as her mother based on that. ’Isn’t her memory a little scrambled?’

The whole area erupted into chaos. Many people were left dumbstruck. This was bombshell news, and for a moment, many couldn’t process it. They all knew that Yi Tianyun and Shi Xueyun had a very good relationship. There would be nothing wrong if they were actually together—after all, they weren’t blood-related, so becoming partners was perfectly fine.

But for a child to suddenly appear out of nowhere... that was just too sudden.

"It’s a misunderstanding! A complete misunderstanding..."
