Chapter 1387 - 756: Midnight (Double - )
Chen Yi went to meet Lin Wanxiao.
Lin Wanxiao walked from afar along the corridor hung with red lanterns, approaching the Moon Cave Gate, and saw Chen Yi’s figure gradually coming closer. Suddenly, she paused, feeling an impulse to turn and leave.
Fortunately, Xiuhe quickly reached out and grabbed her arm.
Chen Yi, however, walked over casually, and as he got near, with his hands behind his back, he leisurely scanned Lin Wanxiao from head to toe. She felt uncomfortable, like he was a sinister lord, and she a woman being oppressed.
"Finally decided to step out?" Chen Yi asked with a cheerful smile.
Lin Wanxiao did not look at him, responding lightly with a "hmm."
Chen Yi had never liked her silent demeanor. If she were naturally somber, he’d let it go, but she wasn’t. She was indeed cultured and reasonable, subtly graceful with a touch of liveliness, as Chen Yi had seen before, but now she was unwilling to show it.
"Why the sour face?" Chen Yi teased her hair ends, "You’re invited to set off fireworks, but you’re not interested?"
She lowered her eyes and said, "I don’t like setting off fireworks."
Chen Yi’s hand paused for a moment, suddenly wanting to send this disagreeable woman away.
He recalled after a romantic evening with the Little Fox, she whispered in his arms that as a concubine she dared not escape, and hoped Chen Yi would leave her alone, give her a room to stay in, and if he occasionally wanted to be affectionate, she could reluctantly accept... Now Chen Yi wished to treat Lin Wanxiao similarly, to summon her when he thought of her, and let her stay alone otherwise.
The reason was simple: the woman didn’t know her own lack of tact.
Yet the problem with women is that they are unaware of their ineptitude.
Seeing Chen Yi silent, Lin Wanxiao spoke up: "If there’s nothing you want, I’ll leave."
Chen Yi squinted his eyes, his gaze dangerous, making Lin Wanxiao shiver slightly, and Xiuhe hurriedly advised, "Madam, don’t say such things."
Someone mediated in between, and Chen Yi didn’t show anger. He did want this mood-spoiling woman to go back, but Lin Wanxiao was summoned by Yin Weiyin, and he couldn’t disrespect the Great Yin.
"You’re here to set off fireworks, have a meal, write some poems," Chen Yi smirking, "New Year is soon, I won’t have time to spend with you."
"Oh..." she responded faintly.
Chen Yi glanced at the sky; it was still early, and then said:
"Will you walk around with me?"
............
Yin Weiyin gently held Qin Yue’s soft hand and said:
"Come with me."
Speaking thus, she led Qin Yue deeper into the courtyard, entering a room reserved for meditation and cultivation.
Once inside, the external cacophony and festive spirit seemed cut off; the interior was simple and serene, the walls bare, with only a low cloud bed and a meditation mat. An ancient long table was set against the wall, upon which was a small statue, and a purple copper incense burner before it containing faint ashes, its subtle sandalwood aroma permeating the air, refreshing the senses.
The window was partially opened, outside several thin bamboo poles cast slanted shadows, adding to the tranquility.
Qin Yue was here for the first time and widened her eyes in curiosity, looking around, feeling it very different from the bustling Prince Mansion.
"Come, sit here," Yin Weiyin pointed at the clean meditation mat in front of the cloud bed.
Listening to the elegant aunt, Qin Yue obediently went over and sat down decisively.
Yin Weiyin sat before her, flipped her wrist, revealing six ancient Copper Coins in her palm, which she arranged in front of Qin Yue.
This was the Mystical Sect’s commonly used Six Coin Divination. Though not profoundly advanced, it proved versatile, not only predicting good and bad fortunes, but also examining a person’s inherent traits, aptitude, and blessing.
Yin Weiyin intended to see if Chen Yi’s daughter had any destiny to transcend worldly bounds.
Qin Yue looked at the small round objects on the ground, reached out a finger to poke them, "What is this?"
Yin Weiyin observed her naive innocence, a barely perceptible curve forming on her lips, and in a tone suited for coaxing children she said, "These are money, Yue’er, pick them up and toss them, just like...like playing with pebbles."
"Money?" Qin Yue tilted her head, clearly unfamiliar with the concept, but since the "pretty aunt" suggested it, she quickly grew interested, using both small hands to gather the Copper Coins, holding them in her palms.
She glanced at the polished floor, then with a forceful flick of her small hand,
Jingling...
The six Copper Coins rang crisply on the floor, hopping and spinning, gradually settling, revealing their unique yin-yang sides and distinct positions.
Yin Weiyin’s gaze fixed on the divination symbols, a deep astonishment fleetingly passed through her usually serene eyes.
This divination...
Six strokes all positive, robust and upright, purely refined, an epitome of supreme nobility, signifying an imperial destiny.
The divination formed the dry pattern, the six strokes like six dragons traversing the sky, unshaded by any shadow, demonstrating an exceptionally noble fate with the power to govern the four directions.
However, as this thought arose, Yin Weiyin felt no joy, instead a sudden heaviness, her eyes dimmed slightly.
Imperial destiny...
She silently repeated these words, a subtle sorrow surfacing.
A destiny so prominent, undeniably sought-after wealth and power, yet to her as a cultivator, a monarch’s fate bonded to the nation, entangled in karma; despite the abundance of dragon qi, it contradicts the peaceful transcendence of Changsheng. Historically, emperors and generals searched for elixirs, how many achieved everlasting life? Could it be that this child’s destiny lacked the bond with immortality? Considering Chen Yi, and now his daughter, Yin Weiyin couldn’t help but feel a touch of regret.
