My First Trip was to Another World

Apostolic Apprentice 6

The provision of cooking has finally begun. So far so good, although we had some trouble. The people who received the dishes are getting to the seats we prepared and carrying the dishes to their mouths.

Observing the condition, the boy who had spoken of the dish raised his mouth with joy and raised his voice.

"Yum yum! Not always!

The cooking rework seems to have been successful. I tasted the pre-rework dish my aunt at church made, too, but modestly, it was fucking unsavory. If that's the standard, I think there's a difference between this dish and cloud mud. Whatever, because it's a dish that Luna and Claire reworked to the best of their ability.

But how much has changed...... I want to taste it too.

Approaching Luna with that in mind, the church uncle approached Luna with a suspicious look on his face and took away the vessel of cooking he was about to give to his guests.

"Huh? What is it?

Luna looked back in surprise and looked at her uncle. But my uncle took a step back, not caring, and poured the dish into his mouth.

"Good... what is this..."

My uncle opens his eyes and squeals. Apparently, the food after the rework is pretty tasty. I know it would have been better if Luna and Claire had done it all from the bottom up, but, well, can't you help saying that?

"The food I was able to cook wasn't delicious, so I reworked it a bit"

Luna answers with a smile. Probably not done with a little rework. I would have taken every possible means to do something about that condition.

I really thought Luna was something to be commended for, but things are not right.

"You! Did you change the taste!

When my uncle changed his blood phase and screamed, he reached out to grab Luna's shoulder. You don't seem to like anything, you look pretty angry. Kind of awkward, I guess.

I rushed to interrupt between my uncle and Luna and grabbed my uncle's arm.

"You bet. It's the ingredient we struggled to get. It wouldn't have stopped if they didn't like it."

"Another unsolicited thing..."

"Huh? I didn't think you'd be mad at me for making it delicious. Why are you mad at me?

Today's ingredients include meat from the demons we hunted and a few vegetables made by the elves. Although none of them are fresh, they are our precious food. Does it ever taste like shit at the church's own convenience? You'll never give up on this.

"If you think you can eat something delicious for free, you'll be less willing to work! It's just about as bad as it tastes for the people here!

"That's a lot to say..."

You mean deliberately unsavory... I don't think I can help but make dishes tasteless because they are immature, but deliberately making them tasteless is blasphemy against ingredients.

I think I only found out a little bit about the identity of the discomfort I was feeling in this cookout. This uncle is looking down on the residents here. I think I'm "doing it for you" with my gaze from above, so I say it in a high-pressure and unpleasant way.

"Anyway, rebuild it immediately. We can't offer anything like this."

What do you mean? Are you an asshole?

And I almost slipped my mouth, but the residents gathered before me started making noise.

"Don't be ridiculous!

"I'm here because I heard it doesn't taste good! I won't allow you to change your cooking!

Anger flies around. Mostly from those brought by Leeds......

These people usually don't show their faces in the cookout. I know it tastes bad, so you don't think there's any point in joining it. If I could eat a meshi with my own money, I wouldn't bother eating something unsavory.

"This is what the gathering people are saying, too. We're gonna keep this up today."

I summed up the story forcefully and got rid of my uncle. My uncle also realised that his statement was impotent, and he pulled it off really well.

By the time the queue was broken, the pot was almost empty already. The last thing we were gonna eat, there's nothing left for us. I'm a little sorry I couldn't eat it, but let's just say I didn't make it extra.

"There's no more food, so why don't we withdraw the cooking area?"

Claire nodded contentedly as she spoke to the cooking area.

"Right. Atashi, you have nothing more to do."

The cook's job is all done. We're already free, so let's just pull back.

"I'll help too. I'm free."

Mr. Lilly gave his name to the withdrawal of the cooking area. But we're still in the middle of security. You should keep guarding until the guests are gone. There won't be any fights or trouble, but vigilance against dish thieves is paramount now.

"No, keep me on guard a little longer. It's easy to lose things while you're withdrawing."

Not only are there thieves who intentionally steal it, but some people accidentally take it back. No offense can be discerned by sign perception, so we can only visually confirm it, even if it is troublesome.

"Right...... Okay, I get it."

Mr. Lily nodded unfortunately and stood beside me and turned her attention to the guests.

Behind me and Claire, I can feel signs that Luna and Claire are busy moving. At this rate, the withdrawal of the cooking area would be over soon. That's what I thought. Arrow tip, my uncle approached me with a bright red face and yelling.

"What are you doing!

"Oh, my God, you're withdrawing the cooking area. There's no more cooking, so you can't help it if you leave it like this."

"That will happen later! I'll give you instructions, just wait a little longer!

The instructions are slow, so I'm moving on my own. If you don't like that, give me instructions sooner.

"... isn't that a waste of time? If we withdraw it now, we can shorten the time a little."

Even after this cookout, it's not like we'll be home any time soon. There's still cleaning up the city. I want to do everything I can to get it over with a little bit sooner.

"Fine, so don't do anything unsolicited!

My uncle held the table down with both hands and tried to obstruct the withdrawal. But there's no way I can contain Claire's idiotic powers with the power of a normal uncle. Claire gently lifted the table and acted inside the magic bag, as if she felt no resistance whatsoever.

My uncle, who kept his entire weight at the table, was pushed up to the lifted table and buttocks on.

"Hey, you okay?

When I say that and reach out, my uncle stands up with my hand pacified away and wraps it up with a terrible sword screen.

"What are you guys! Nobody's following orders!

Does the instruction mean a guard moddle that just stands there, a dish that should be called blasphemy for ingredients, and a voice call that just makes you more alert?

I thought it was all pointless, so I gave everyone instructions to take the initiative and ignore it.

"... Oh, was I? I guess nobody would follow the instructions I didn't understand."

I think this is a problem on the side giving instructions. I'll give you directions that create a contradiction, so there's no point in following them. Still, whoever obeys will obey... but I can't.

"The instructions are in accordance with the rules! Follow the rules when working in a group! That would be common sense!

Also often (...) Knowledge (...)... I guess common sense in this guy is, but that's not like common sense in me.

"I don't know. Don't push your common sense on others."

I'm sexually frustrated when I hear the word common sense. I was going to stop saying it back, but I stuck it back.

Well, I can't accept unreasonable rules at all. Tell that to someone who can do that. Two real apostles (goodness and one) would probably be good at it... is that it? Is that what 'co-ordination' is?

Awkward. I suddenly understood. If adherence to pressed rules is to be called 'co-ordination', I definitely have no co-ordination. Isn't everyone right......

My uncle and I were staring at each other in silence for a little while while as I went through my thoughts. My uncle seems to be thinking something too. And as if to break the silence, my uncle exaggerates and says, pointing his index finger to the right.

"Rules exist to be obeyed! If you can't protect that, walk away from here now!

If you want me to go home, that's fine. But I don't know if it's a good idea to say it now. There is a cleaning of the area after cooking out.

"Is cleaning good? You were supposed to clean up the city after this, weren't you?

"If we can follow the rules, we'll have you with us. How about that? Can you protect it?

Is it conditional upon obeying the instructions of the Church which makes no sense... It's going to be so stressful.

"You can't. Everyone..."

So he shrugged and looked around, Lily, who was next door, replied with a confident look.

"I don't think so."

I don't know... I knew you would, didn't I? Because it looks like everyone was pretty stressed out, too.

Besides, I have no apostolic talent. Working with church people as they are would not do each other any good. You should probably go home.

"Oh well. If Lily says so, I guess I can't. Shall we go home?"

"What? Go home?

I get the look on my uncle's face like he's eaten. It's incredible.

Well, when I say I'm leaving, I'm not leaving right away.

"Oh. I'll help you until the cookout is withdrawn, but I'll let you go home at that point."

The lead in cooking is almost shifting to us. It's not a good idea to throw it out on the way.

"What are you talking about!

My uncle yells in a cold sweat like he was in a hurry.

You're the one who told me to go home, but what are you mucking about... You're a stranger.

"That's why I'm saying I'm leaving because I can't seem to."

"Where is someone really going to go when they tell you to go home!

"Huh...?

He told me to go home, so I'm going home. He's the one who tells you to obey orders, doesn't obey them, and what you say changes things from corny to corny. It's annoying......

"... that's enough. I'll report to the Pope here."

My uncle took a deep sigh with his tired face and walked away with Tobotobo. You look a little tired. Were we tired? Well, okay.

After that, nothing happened and I was able to finish the cookout safely.

Ignoring the three confused church members, we just ended the retreat. It's a lot the same task as withdrawing your usual tent. Since it's faster than sharing roles poorly, there won't be any complaints about the face of the church either.

"I'm sorry, but we'll let you go home with this."

"Are you sure?

When Luna says sorry, she answers with the look of her uncle giving up something.

"Fine. Please leave now..."

"Good luck, then. Say hello to Camron."

That's what I said and left this place. Continue to the heart of the city as the inhabitants of the slums drop you off.

"Let's come alone this time."

"Right. The people here seem to be happier."

Leeds replied with a smile. Apparently, church cookouts weren't very welcome.

"It was cramper than I thought..."

"Right...... I'm sorry. It's like everyone's right, I didn't have the right apostolic job."

That's just a little reflection. I said I could "do it" on the spot Nori, but I didn't think it was such a tough job. I can't do this.

"... sorry, I don't think the athletes were for you either..."

When Claire squeaks with a bad bat look on her face, Luna follows it with a strange face.

"Right. Nor did I follow the instructions of the Church."

"Hehe. Well, I guess I'll have no choice. I'm sure Ko-kun's influence is on us too."

On the other hand, laughter spilled from Mr. Lily. It's like I had a feeling this was going to happen.

"Hmm? My fault?

"I didn't say that... I guess so. But it's not a bad thing. At least I'm having more fun right now, and I think it's better."

"... right"

And, Luna affirmed with a complicated grin.

Whatever it is, the cookout is safe...? The church folks won't be convinced, but the cookout itself was a success.

I had a prediction that Leeds wouldn't be able to do it, but I didn't think we were all up for collective action... Let's act with that intention in the future.
