The carriage continued rumbling across the road.

Roderic remained silent for several minutes, but his mood only grew worse as he thought about the gathering.

’Damn it,’ he thought, eyes snapping open. ’System, you better have something to distract me!’

A blue panel immediately opened up in front of him.

Roderic fell silent for a moment.

’Mhm,’ he thought. ’There’s actually still a lot to check, huh.’

His gaze fell on the quests section almost immediately.

A smile slowly grew on his face.

’Right. Let’s see if there’s another wonderful quest waiting for me.’

As he pressed on the tab, another window popped up in front of him right away.

[Main Quest 3]

Kill the Dark Calamity Dragon

> Tap to expand

...

Roderic’s mouth fell wide open.

’’What the fuck kind of bullshit is this?’’

His eyes remained glued to the screen in front of him.

A dark calamity dragon?

’’No, no, no,’’ he said, shaking his head. ’’This is just a joke. It HAS to be a joke.’’

But as nothing changed, the last glimmers of hope disappeared from his eyes.

For a moment, Roderic genuinely considered closing the System and never opening it again.

’Dangerous humans were still fine,’ he thought. ’Especially with a ten-year head start.’

But dragons?

Those damned creatures live for tens of thousands of years and can level kingdoms!

Even the System being ten years ahead hardly mattered when dealing with something that could consider ten years a short nap.

’Unless...’ he thought, heart pounding. ’It’s a baby.’

His eyes locked onto the System screen as his breathing grew heavy.

Though the odds were incredibly low, there was no way he’d just give up.

’Please! I beg you!’ he thought, praying silently.

As he touched the quest, the window immediately expanded.

[Target]

The Dark Calamity Dragon

Roderic stared at the expanded screen for a moment.

’’Hell yeah!’’ he shouted, jumping up from excitement. ’’It’s a fucking baby!’’

Immediately after saying those words, he paused.

Roderic cleared his throat lightly and sat down.

’’Mhm, that didn’t sound right,’’ he muttered. ’’Probably shouldn’t say that again.’’

His attention returned to the screen once more.

Now that the excitement had faded slightly, Roderic finally bothered reading everything else.

’A mutated wyvern?’ he thought, raising an eyebrow. ’So it actually isn’t even a real dragon...’

Roderic scratched the back of his head lightly.

’That’ll certainly be really helpful. But what am I supposed to expect from this... wyvren baby?’

It still had a dragon bloodline... and dragons were creatures of mass destruction.

Even at young ages, their ability to use mana was said to surpass that of ordinary mages.

With that thought settled, his gaze moved on to the bottom of the quest.

’Oho, would you look at these rewards?’ he thought, grinning. ’An actual fucking Dragon Heart!’

There was no way he didn’t recognize it.

Dragon hearts were practically a classic in fantasy novels back on Earth.

Sometimes they strengthened the body. Sometimes they allowed one to use ridiculous amounts of mana, and in some, they even transformed someone’s entire physique.

And it wasn’t just a regular dragon heart either.

’Great, this is just great,’ he thought, rubbing his hands together. ’The system is actually giving me an Ancient Dragon Heart!’

Roderic’s imagination immediately began running wild.

Drool began dripping from the corner of his mouth as he imagined himself flying through the clouds with wings.

Even dropping massive meteorites from the sky didn’t seem outside the realm of possibility.

Finally, after a few more seconds, he quickly wiped away the drool.

’’A perfect day,’’ he muttered, nodding slowly.

Even the Young Noble Gathering didn’t seem nearly as annoying anymore.

Roderic leaned back in his seat, quietly humming with a huge grin on his face.

’A baby wyvern, huh.’

His fingers began tapping against his legs.

Several seconds ticked by quietly.

The taps grew faster and faster as Roderic’s face slowly began losing color.

’Wait a minute...’ he thought, stiffening completely. ’If it’s a baby... wouldn’t its parents still be around?’

Roderic went completely still.

He swallowed hard as despair flashed across his face.

’Fuck me!’

...

Only two hours later, the carriage finally rolled to a stop.

A familiar mansion with Whitemane banners stood in front, with several servants already waiting.

’’Young master!’’ Edmund’s voice rang out. ’’We’ve arrived.’’

No answer came from inside.

A few seconds passed by in silence.

BANG!

The carriage door suddenly flew open.

Roderic stepped outside immediately, his expression extremely sour.

’’Damn this fucking broken System,’’ he cursed under his breath. ’’Damn all those young nobles at the same time.’’

Edmund blinked several times.

’’Young master?’’ he asked, utterly confused.

Roderic waved him off right away.

’’Don’t ask,’’ he replied.

With that, he walked straight past him and headed into the mansion.

Edmund remained behind for a moment, watching him disappear through the entrance.

’What happened?’ he thought, completely unable to comprehend the situation. ’Didn’t the young master get the deal he wanted with Victor?’

Even the two knights behind him couldn’t help but scratch their cheeks.

Meanwhile, Roderic had already made his way upstairs.

He needed something to get rid of all his frustrations.

Fortunately, he knew exactly what to do.

’It’s time for some heavy training,’ he thought, taking off his travel clothes.

His second Aura Seal was getting really close now. Roderic was confident he could reach it with at most three days of heavy training.

Besides, beating the shit out of a few training dummies certainly sounded good right now.

Especially with the Young Noble Gathering waiting for him tomorrow.

Roderic’s expression soured again.

’Yeah,’ he thought, cracking his knuckles. ’I’m definitely going to need this.’
