Chapter 90: The Rain Has Stopped
Joo Joowon had never been someone capable of handling sleep deprivation well.
Especially after starting work.
Back in the past, he could still spend his evenings playing games or reading novels.
Later on, however, he had become the kind of person who fell asleep almost immediately after touching the bed.
His energy levels had declined dramatically.
Even then, he would still wake up the next morning feeling exhausted.
When had he last experienced this sort of youthful vitality where staying up all night seemed to carry no consequences whatsoever?
Yet now, he once again felt that indescribable sense of health and youthfulness flowing through his body.
Perhaps he had underestimated himself too much.
Joo Joowon had always considered himself nothing more than a fragile ordinary person.
In his mind, the only reason he could kill zombies alone was because of the equipment he carried.
However, having attributes that were more than double those of an average human arguably placed him somewhere in the realm of a minor superhuman already.
If he picked up a fire axe and went after zombies now, perhaps killing one with every swing was not entirely impossible.
Of course, that was only a thought.
As long as he had the option of fighting from a distance, he would never willingly choose to become a melee fighter.
After washing up, Joo Joowon pulled back the curtains and looked outside.
The sky stretched endlessly overhead, clear and spotless, without a single cloud in sight.
It was a beautiful day.
"The rain stopped?"
Joo Joowon carefully observed the outside world for a moment longer.
After confirming that there was not even the slightest trace of drizzle remaining, his spirits immediately lifted.
There were no zombies left in his apartment building to kill anymore.
If he ended up wasting an entire day simply because the rain prevented him from leaving the building, it would bother him for a very long time afterward.
He immediately began preparing everything he needed before going outside.
In truth, he had already been considering venturing out even if the rain had continued.
With his motorcycle helmet and gloves already equipped, and with an additional layer of completely waterproof spider silk wrapped around his body, the chances of rainwater actually touching his skin were extremely low.
Still, doing so carried risks.
Now that the rain had stopped, things were much better.
"Meow?"
When Byeol noticed that Joo Joowon was preparing to leave, the little cat thought for a moment before quietly sitting down beside the door.
Joo Joowon looked at him in surprise.
"You want to come outside with me?"
"Meow!"
Joo Joowon considered it for a moment.
Byeol’s physical condition had already improved considerably after becoming stronger.
There probably would not be any major problems.
As a result, he did not stop him.
"Alright then. Let’s go together."
After making sure all the doors and windows were securely shut and the anti theft grilles were locked into place, Joo Joowon finally carried Byeol downstairs.
He was no longer afraid of encountering the zombie birds he had seen before or being surrounded by hordes of zombies.
The Spider Web Launcher was more than capable of dragging even flying zombie birds out of the sky and smashing them onto the ground.
Meanwhile, the existence of the Spider Brand Running Shoes allowed him to move freely along walls, leaving zombies with nothing to do except stare helplessly upward.
Joo Joowon climbed directly out through the staircase window.
He had never fully explored the lower floors of the building.
The fifth and fourth floors had already been cleared out by other people.
He had no idea which groups had done it, but he had absolutely no interest in meeting them.
Instead, he simply walked along the exterior wall until he reached the backyard garden attached to the apartments on the first floor.
Byeol widened his eyes as he looked around curiously.
Although he had climbed along walls outside tall buildings before and had even secretly escaped through windows in the past to fight with other cats while Joo Joowon was not paying attention, ever since the window screens had been installed he had been left staring helplessly through the glass.
Who would have thought that his human servant actually possessed the same skill?
The garden attached to the first floor of Joo Joowon’s building had not been maintained for a very long time.
There used to be an elderly couple living on the first floor who grew vegetables and flowers there.
Unfortunately, after the produce matured, people constantly stole it in secret.
Eventually the furious couple destroyed everything they had planted.
As a result, the only things remaining now were an old tree that had stood there for years and a yard full of weeds.
After being nourished by two full days of rain, every plant in the garden looked exceptionally vibrant and healthy.
Aside from that, however, there did not appear to be anything unusual.
After thinking for a moment, Joo Joowon wrapped spider silk around the handle of his fire axe and tossed it down as a test.
Nothing happened.
The scene was so peaceful that it almost felt as if he were engaging in a battle of wits with empty air.
Joo Joowon, however, did not think that way.
He suspected that perhaps the reason nothing had happened was because the object he threw down was not alive.
He was still thinking about possible solutions when Byeol, who had been quietly sitting in his arms all this time, suddenly jumped down before he could react.
Even with all of Joo Joowon’s attributes exceeding ten points, he still failed to grab Byeol in time.
He could only watch helplessly as the cat landed in the garden below.
His hand immediately shot upward as he prepared to fire spider silk and drag the little troublemaker back.
Unexpectedly, the instant Byeol touched the ground, several plump gray figures suddenly burst out from beneath the roots of the old tree, squeaking loudly.
