As the pleasant background music began to play, the screen changed, officially loading the game map: Summoner’s Rift.

After buying items in the shop, Tang Sanlang took control of the support robot hero and headed to the bottom lane alongside Big Flying Saber’s ADC, the Explorer.

The two opposing heroes in the bottom lane were Peach Garden Profound Sword’s support, a Minotaur, and Peach Garden Lone Star Sword’s ADC, Vayne.

As the minion waves arrived in lane, both sides began farming for gold. The game started peacefully, with each pair focused on their own economy, leaving the other undisturbed.

However, suddenly!

Tang Sanlang seized an opportunity, having his Blitzcrank use its Q-ability, Mechanical Flying Claw, shooting it out to grab the enemy Vayne as she stepped forward to farm.

Simultaneously, Big Flying Saber’s Explorer used his E-ability, Arcane Teleportation, to jump forward. He was ready to fire a Q, an Energy Bullet, and combo with Tang Sanlang’s Blitzcrank to instantly kill Vayne.

The coordination between the two was telepathic, seamless, and perfectly in sync.

But in that split second, the enemy Vayne used her Q-ability to tumble, effortlessly dodging the barrage of skills. She was completely unscathed, not having lost a single drop of health.

"Holy shit, what a play!"

"Such fast reflexes! That’s incredible!"

"666666..."

Seeing this, the viewers flooded the chat with exclamations of admiration.

In the minutes that followed.

Tang Sanlang’s Mechanical Flying Claw missed time and time again. The livestream chat spammed "666666," but it clearly wasn’t for him. It was for the enemy Vayne and her god-tier positioning.

"Fuck! Damn it!"

’Tang Sanlang was furious. After all, he was a Diamond 1 player, yet here he was, getting completely styled on by some Gold-ranked nobody.’

’And in front of his thousands of fans, no less. This was absolutely humiliating!’

"Careful!"

Big Flying Saber suddenly pinged, signaling him to retreat immediately.

Only then did Tang Sanlang realize his Blitzcrank had been poked down to half health by the enemy.

He was just about to fall back.

Just then, the enemy Vayne burst out from the brush. With a Flash-E combo, she pinned him against the wall and began unloading a torrent of damage.

The Explorer tried to rush in and save him but was sent flying by the Minotaur’s savage charge.

"Dammit!"

Tang Sanlang was so angry he wanted to slam his mouse. He cursed out loud, and the moment the stun wore off, he threw out another Mechanical Flying Claw.

Vayne used her Q to tumble, effortlessly dodging the Mechanical Flying Claw. She then cast Ignite and finished him off with one last auto-attack.

The screen went gray. The robot fell dead.

A message flashed across the screen: *Streamer Tang Sanlang has been slain by Peach Garden Lone Star Sword!*

...

「One hour later.」

After a series of intense team fights, Tang Sanlang’s team ultimately claimed victory.

On the opposing team, Peach Garden Lone Star Sword, the Vayne player, had a monstrous score of 43 kills and 1 death. He was "Godlike" for the entire match. Unfortunately for him, his four teammates were clearly on a much lower skill level.

Thanks to their superior teamwork, Tang Sanlang and Big Flying Saber’s side had the last laugh.

However, the hundreds of thousands of viewers watching the stream would never forget the name of that god-like random player: ’Peach Garden Lone Star Sword.’

...

「Late at night, Xingyu Internet Cafe.」

After gaming all night, Ye Xing checked the time. It was already three in the morning. He said his goodbyes to his dorm mates, shut down his computer, and left Xingyu Internet Cafe to walk home.

At this late hour, most of the shops lining the streets were closed. Only a few cars occasionally passed by, headlights cutting through the dark.

Xingyu Internet Cafe wasn’t far from his home. After a walk of about six or seven minutes, Ye Xing finally arrived at his apartment building.

The night was still and silent. The front door was loud, and he figured it would wake his sleeping parents. So, Ye Xing decided not to use it, instead circling around to the back of the building.

Gathering his True Qi, he performed the Lightweight Skill, Wind Shadow Step. Ye Xing pushed off the ground, his body soaring into the air like a great roc spreading its wings.

SWOOSH! In an instant, he reached the fifth floor.

He hooked his hands on the windowsill of the fifth-floor master bedroom, slid the window open, and slipped inside his room, closing the window screen behind him.

The apartment was completely silent; his parents were probably fast asleep.

Watery moonlight spilled through the glass window, pooling on the sill.

On his bed, Ye Xing sat cross-legged with his eyes closed in the Five Hearts Facing Heaven posture. He began to cultivate his Innate Skill.

EXHALE—

INHALE—

He inhaled slowly, then exhaled just as slowly. In with the pure, out with the turbid. As he circulated the Innate Skill over and over, Ye Xing felt the True Qi inside him strengthening, drop by drop. He was getting closer and closer to breaking through to the Martial Arts Sixth Realm.

An unknown amount of time passed. A sliver of pale, dawn light appeared on the horizon. Suddenly, Ye Xing vaguely heard his mother’s voice from outside his door. She was on the phone, and her voice sounded like she was crying. He caught a mention of his maternal uncle.

Judging by the sky, it was only a little after five in the morning, not even six yet. His mom usually didn’t get up to go grocery shopping until after six. And she was on the phone. Ye Xing had a bad feeling that something had happened.

Even though she was on the phone in the living room, separated by a wall and a door, Ye Xing’s keen hearing still managed to pick up bits and pieces of the conversation.

’What happened?’ Ye Xing quickly roused himself from his meditative state, opened his bedroom door, and walked out.

His father and mother were both in the living room. His mother’s eyes were red and puffy, as if she had just been crying.

"Mom, Dad, why are you up so early? What’s going on?" Ye Xing asked, his gaze full of concern as he looked at his parents.

"Sigh... Your uncle’s had an accident. Your mother and I might have to make a trip to Fu City," his father, Ye Guozhong, said with a sigh. "I’ve made some porridge; it’s in the pot in the kitchen. You can help yourself later."

"What happened to him?" Ye Xing asked urgently.

His uncle had always been the kindest to him when he was growing up. Hearing that he was in trouble sent a jolt of panic through Ye Xing.

"He fell from a tall building at the construction site where he works. They think his legs might be crippled," his mother, Lin Yufang, said, her voice full of sorrow.

"Where is he now?" Ye Xing asked.

"He’s been taken to Fu City Provincial Hospital," Lin Yufang said. "Axing, you’ll have to get lunch on your own. Your father and I need to get to the bus station right away."

"Don’t go to the station. I’ll drive. I’ll go with you to see him," Ye Xing said quickly. "Mom, you and Dad get your things. We’ll leave immediately."

After saying that, Ye Xing quickly tidied up, checked that the windows, doors, and gas were all off, and then drove his parents onto the highway, speeding toward Fu City.
