Chapter 261: Should We Deal With Him?

Hearing Jiang Che’s words, Leng Feng’s steps suddenly froze. He paused for two seconds, then glanced at Jiang Che’s feet.

He saw countless spikes, sharp as tentacles, madly trying to take root under Jiang Che’s soles.

But they were blocked outside the flesh.

These spikes were stopped, just as he expected.

By his calculations, Jiang Che’s strength should be no less than his own.

Sometimes, watching Jiang Che, he felt a bit jealous, because Jiang Che’s power grew too fast, and he hadn’t even encountered any real setbacks.

"Is something wrong?" Leng Feng looked at Jiang Che.

"This thing of yours seems able to extract life and energy." Jiang Che stared at the spikes beneath his feet.

Since entering here, he had sensed it.

This thing beneath his feet was drawing life and energy from everyone in this area.

He looked at Leng Feng; before coming, he’d already heard a bit from Xiong Jie, saying Leng Feng had now shouldered the burden, bringing everyone who couldn’t fit into the Dungeons into his own Dungeon.

According to Xiong Jie and the others, Leng Feng was still the same as before, always a hero putting humanity first.

Even though the news spread that a large population would attract the Dark Forest’s relentless consumption, he still stood firm and protected humanity.

When other Human Lords were afraid and drove out Dungeon dwellers, Leng Feng shouldered the load, keeping everyone safe within his domain.

Whenever Xiong Jie spoke about Leng Feng now, there was always a hint of admiration in his voice.

And now, Jiang Che sensed the spikes trying to root themselves beneath him, feeling the whirlpool-like tug, and he frowned.

He could tell the spikes had this property.

But Leng Feng hadn’t activated this skill. The people here were still able to live safely.

After hearing Jiang Che’s words, Leng Feng’s smile froze at the corners of his mouth.

The ability to extract Life Energy was only known by those closest to him.

But the people close to him would never talk, so it could only be that Jiang Che sensed it himself.

"This is just a Dungeon trait that followed after the Dark Star. The trait wasn’t created by my own will." Leng Feng shook his head.

If he could, he wouldn’t want such a trait either.

"You have a bit too many people here." Jiang Che looked at the city below; it had almost become several layers, each one a massive city.

Sometimes there were unfilled gaps, allowing a thin streak of light from above to shine through.

This environment was as suffocating and lightless as the Dark Forest.

"There’s no way around it. I just want to give everyone a place to live." Leng Feng said with a smile. He didn’t want Jiang Che to know his plans yet.

Jiang Che’s situation was far too complicated. To him, Jiang Che was a giant wildcard in this world.

If it weren’t for Jiang Che, they’d all stick to their own plans—humanity would survive or perish as fate dictated.

But now, there was Jiang Che.

What Leng Feng saw was Jiang Che walking a different path.

The path of coexisting with the evil spirits.

But why those evil spirits would accept a human—a madman at that—he still couldn’t figure out.

"I came to talk with you about how to deal with Dark Star." Jiang Che looked at Leng Feng. According to Ding Ning and the rest, killing Leng Feng was the best way to contain Dark Star.

Dark Star didn’t fear anything happening to Leng Feng, because he thought Leng Feng was already the strongest among humans.

Even if everyone else died, Leng Feng wouldn’t.

Under his control, Leng Feng wouldn’t do anything stupid like suicide.

No one could kill Leng Feng, because no one else was strong enough—but Jiang Che could.

"Dark Star..." When Leng Feng heard that name, his pupils obviously shrank.

"I’ve got some matters to attend to here. You rest for a bit. I’ll try to shield Dark Star’s senses." Leng Feng pointed at a lounge to the side.

They were at the very top of the city. Unlike below, here they enjoyed the richest sunlight.

Leng Feng’s office was simply built—a small room, walls on all sides.

Even his subordinates used offices of this simple design.

Four walls surrounded them, and above was a huge transparent glass skylight, letting in every drop of light.

The lounge was designed the same way—clear glass on top.

Seeing Jiang Che’s confused look, Leng Feng smiled helplessly.

"Maybe it was after experiencing the Dark Forest’s invasion and building the city that I realized how precious sunlight had become." Standing in the open, he stretched out his arms and soaked up the sunlight spilling down on him.

The rooftop construction was rough—they had no extra materials for luxurious offices.

The biggest material cost was that fully transparent skylight above.

Even though some Survivors could use their abilities to help, everyone exhausted themselves each day with city construction.

These small offices upstairs, they built themselves.

"See those few rays of light slipping through that gap?" Leng Feng pointed at the crevice between the five-layered city.

"That gap was left on purpose—so people living below can occasionally see some sunlight." He pointed at the crude crack, as though describing his most perfect design.

Clearly it was a city on the surface, yet the top floor felt like ground level, while the lower layers were like the underground.

"This isn’t true underground. On the minus-one floor, we’ve hollowed out some space for living quarters."

"I just want to provide a slightly more comfortable survival space for everyone." Leng Feng explained his layout seriously to Jiang Che.

"As for the top floor, I suppose it’s my privilege for borrowing authority—a little benefit for myself." He laughed.

Jiang Che walked toward the lounge he pointed out.

There was a comfy sofa, a coffee table up front, nice decoration, and sunlight poured into the room from above, warm on the skin, a golden hue filling the space.

Inside, because sunlight refracted through the glass, Jiang Che felt his eyes uncomfortable, though it wasn’t much trouble for a Survivor.

Leng Feng and the others still enjoyed the dazzling sunlight.

The room was big and spacious, the top floor had far more space than below. Besides the sofa for rest, there were some indoor recreation facilities.

There were also some staff on the side, serving as guides.

"Sir, if you need anything, please do let me know. Drinks or food—just say the word and we’ll bring it right up." In the lounge, a female attendant looked at Jiang Che and spoke respectfully.

Her job was to welcome guests, but there had never been guests here.

Watching Jiang Che enter the lounge, Liu Mang walked up to Leng Feng’s side. "Teacher, this person knows about the spikes—should we deal with him?"
