Chapter 215: Mission finished
"System, tell me, what is the rank of that evil spirit?" Alex asked calmly as he gazed toward the village that was still engulfed in darkness.
The World System immediately responded.
[Ding! It is a Grade Three Evil Spirit. However, it has existed for a long time and has continuously produced many Grade Two Evil Spirits under its command.]
Alex nodded after hearing the answer.
A Grade Three Evil Spirit was indeed dangerous for ordinary members of the Light Faction. Even an experienced squad would have to prepare carefully before attempting such a mission.
However, for him, it was not much of a problem.
A faint smile appeared on his face.
"If it is only a Grade Three Evil Spirit, then Vorkoth should be more than enough to deal with it."
He did not have any intention of wasting his own strength.
After all, Vorkoth had once ruled over countless evil beings. He was an extremely terrifying existence.
He had already reached the Half Step Grade Four Realm.
Against a mere Grade Three Evil Spirit, the battle would not even deserve to be called a fight.
Alex slowly raised one hand.
His shadow beneath his feet suddenly twisted violently as thick black mist surged out of it.
The surrounding temperature instantly dropped.
Everyone instinctively stepped backward.
A gigantic figure slowly emerged from the darkness.
Its body looked peculiar. Long hands droped it’s knees. Dark eyes, dark blue skin, that seemed to absorb every trace of surrounding light.
The pressure radiating from it made everyone’s breathing become heavy.
Even the surrounding air seemed to freeze.
The members of the squad felt their hearts tighten.
Their instincts screamed at them that this creature was unimaginably dangerous.
Vorkoth slowly knelt before Alex with complete respect.
"My King, what are your orders?"
Alex looked toward the distant village.
"There is a Grade Three Evil Spirit leading many Grade Two Evil Spirits."
He calmly pointed toward the source of the sinister aura.
"Go and destroy every one of them."
A small smile appeared on his face.
"You were once an Evil God King in the Lower Realm. Dealing with creatures like these should not be difficult for you."
Vorkoth let out a creepy laugh.
"Kekekekeke..."
"My King, please leave these insignificant mongrels to me."
"They are not even worthy of standing before your divine presence."
The next instant, his body completely disappeared.
He vanished so quickly that nobody present could even sense how he had moved.
Only the lingering darkness remained where he had been standing.
Silence immediately fell over the entire squad.
Nobody spoke.
Everyone simply stared at Alex with shocked expressions.
The pressure released by Vorkoth had almost crushed their spirits.
Even though he had not shown any hostility toward them, they had still felt an overwhelming fear deep inside their souls.
Merlin swallowed nervously before asking in a low voice,
"Captain Alex... who exactly was that?"
Alex smiled reassuringly.
"You do not need to worry."
"He is my servant. He can handle this situation by himself."
The others looked at each other.
Their minds had become completely blank.
A servant?
Such a terrifying being was actually calling Alex his king.
Just who exactly was this new member lord Berdin found this time?
Before anyone could ask another question, something unbelievable happened.
The endless darkness surrounding the distant village suddenly began to disappear.
The thick black mist that had covered the sky rapidly scattered.
The horrifying evil aura vanished almost instantly.
Within only a few breaths, the oppressive atmosphere completely disappeared.
The sky became bright once again. Everyone widened their eyes. They had not heard any battle.
There had not been any explosion.
There had not even been the slightest fluctuation of genesis energy.
It was as though every evil spirit had simply ceased to exist.
A ripple appeared beside Alex.
Vorkoth stepped out from the darkness once more.
He respectfully knelt before Alex.
"My King."
"The task has been completed."
Alex simply nodded.
"Good."
"You may return."
"As you command."
Vorkoth’s body dissolved into black shadows before disappearing into Alex’s own shadow.
Everything returned to normal as if nothing had happened.
The squad members stood frozen.
A mission involving a Grade Three Evil Spirit had ended in less than a minute.
Even worse, they had not even witnessed the battle itself.
It had been erased with absolute ease.
Nobody knew what to say anymore.
Alex calmly looked toward the village.
"Let us go."
"We should see whether the villagers still need our help."
Everyone hurriedly nodded.
No one dared to question him anymore.
Instead, they silently followed behind him.
At the same time, every one of them had already made the same decision.
The moment they returned to the faction, they would immediately report everything to Berdin.
Alex was far too extraordinary to remain unnoticed.
After several minutes of walking, they finally entered the village.
The scene before them caused everyone to stop in their tracks.
Many villagers had collapsed onto the ground.
Their faces were pale.
Their bodies had become incredibly thin.
Some of them looked as though decades had passed in only a few days.
Their hair had completely turned white.
Their skin was wrinkled.
Some had even lost chunks of flesh from their bodies.
The horrifying injuries made everyone’s expressions become ugly.
Painful cries echoed throughout the village.
Children were crying.
Old people were trembling.
Many families embraced each other while desperately praying for survival.
An elderly man slowly crawled toward Alex.
His body was covered with horrifying wounds.
His breathing was weak.
"My Lord..."
"Please save us."
"I beg you..."
Alex quietly looked at the old man.
His expression remained calm, but complicated emotions appeared deep inside his eyes.
This was the Genesis Realm.
Every ordinary resident here possessed cultivation and life force that could easily make them gods after descending into a lower universe.
Yet despite such incredible origins, they were still nothing more than ordinary people in this world.
Before stronger beings, their lives were just as fragile.
The squad members could only sigh.
One of them quietly said,
"We can heal their external injuries."
"But the life force that the Evil Spirit consumed cannot be restored."
"They have already lost too much vitality."
"Even if we save them today, they will probably die within a month."
Everyone lowered their heads. There was nothing they could do.
Merlin turned toward Alex.
"What should we do, Sir?"
Alex slowly looked around the village. Then he spoke calmly.
"Step back."
Everyone immediately obeyed.
They quickly retreated several dozen meters.
Alex slowly closed his eyes.
The next moment, an incomparably holy aura burst out from his body.
Golden light surrounded him.
His divine aura spread throughout the entire village.
Everyone instinctively looked upward.
Even the villagers stopped crying.
They stared at Alex with hope filling their eyes.
Alex activated his Archangel Transformation.
Both of his hands gradually transformed into pure radiant light.
They no longer looked like ordinary hands.
Instead, they seemed to have become manifestations of the Law of Light itself.
An endless stream of divine energy gathered around him.
He slowly raised both hands toward the sky.
Brilliant light erupted from his palms.
The entire village was instantly bathed in warm golden radiance.
However, this was not ordinary healing energy.
The Archangel Transformation’s healing ability contained both the Law of Light and the Law of Life.
The two supreme laws fused together perfectly.
Golden streams of life energy descended like gentle rain.
The divine light entered every villager’s body.
The horrifying wounds rapidly closed.
Missing flesh regenerated before everyone’s eyes.
The pale complexions quickly regained healthy color.
Wrinkled skin gradually became smooth again.
White hair slowly returned to its original youthful color.
Most importantly, the life force that had been consumed began returning.
The withered vitality inside their bodies was restored.
Every villager could clearly feel warmth spreading throughout their entire body.
The weakness disappeared.
Their exhausted hearts regained strength.
Some elderly villagers suddenly looked decades younger.
Others who had been unable to stand slowly rose to their feet.
Tears flowed down many faces.
They had already accepted death.
Yet now they had received a second chance at life.
The members of the Light Faction stood completely speechless.
Their jaws nearly dropped onto the ground.
One disciple muttered in disbelief,
"This... this is impossible."
Another shook his head repeatedly.
"No healing technique can restore consumed life force."
"That should be absolutely impossible."
Merlin stared blankly at Alex.
"How can he give life back to people?"
"What kind of healing technique is this?"
Everyone felt their understanding of healing completely collapse.
Alex’s ability had shattered everything they believed to be true.
After several more minutes, Alex slowly lowered his hands.
The brilliant golden light gradually disappeared.
His Archangel Transformation faded away.
He carefully observed the villagers.
Seeing that their conditions had completely stabilized, he nodded with satisfaction.
Internally, a faint smile appeared.
Of course, saving these people had been the right thing to do.
However, he also had another objective.
He wanted this incident to spread.
The more shocking his abilities appeared, the faster the news would reach Lord Berdin.
If Berdin became interested in him, he would naturally seek him out.
That would create the perfect opportunity for Alex to treat him.
And once that happened, Alex would finally have the chance to copy Berdin’s extraordinary talent.
Everything was progressing exactly according to his plan.
Still, none of those thoughts appeared on his face.
He remained calm and composed.
He turned toward the squad.
"Let us finish the mission."
"We still need the village chief’s signature confirming that the threat has been eliminated."
Everyone immediately nodded.
The village chief personally thanked Alex with tears in his eyes before signing the mission document.
The mission was officially completed.
Its reward was one hundred Genesis Coins.
After completing the formalities, the squad returned to the Light Faction.
However, the moment they entered the faction hall, everyone surrounded Alex.
News had already spread that they had completed a Grade Three mission unusually quickly.
Everyone was curious.
Before Alex could even take another step, questions exploded from every direction.
"How did you defeat a Grade Three Evil Spirit so quickly?"
"Was that terrifying creature really your servant?"
"How did you restore the villagers’ life force?"
"What kind of healing technique was that?"
"Who exactly are you?"
Alex could only smile as everyone bombarded him with endless questions.
Meanwhile, Merlin quietly slipped away from the crowd.
Without wasting a single second, he hurried toward Berdin’s residence.
He had to report everything immediately.
Inside the residence, Berdin listened carefully as Merlin explained every detail.
From Vorkoth’s appearance...
To the effortless destruction of the Evil Spirits...
To Alex restoring the villagers’ lost life force.
As Merlin finished speaking, silence filled the room.
Berdin’s eyes slowly widened.
His breathing became slightly hurried.
A spark of hope that had been buried for countless years finally appeared within his eyes.
He slowly clenched his fists.
"Perhaps..."
"Perhaps Alex truly can heal the injury that even my grandfather, a Grade Six Entity, was unable to cure."
