Damian did not rush forward.

For the first time in a long while, he deliberately restrained himself. His violet eyes slowly swept across the mountain, then toward the skies above Lebanon before returning to Fulgur. Every instinct in his body urged caution. He had fought countless enemies since arriving in the Underworld, yet never had he encountered someone whose words inspired such instinctive trust. It irritated him.

His gaze shifted from the dragon’s face to the twin Raikiri rods before scanning the surrounding terrain once more.

Something was missing, there had to be.

Fulgur had openly claimed he had prepared specifically for Damian’s ability to steal inheritances. That meant there was another piece to this puzzle, another contingency he had yet to uncover. Yet no matter how carefully he observed his surroundings, nothing appeared out of place.

The strange part was that Damian knew he was not under any spell. No illusion clouded his judgment or emotions.

This feeling came entirely from himself. It was the same instinct that allowed him to distinguish truth from deception through the desires hidden within people’s hearts. Every time Fulgur spoke, that instinct remained perfectly still.

The dragon genuinely believed every word leaving his mouth.

"What did you say?"

Damian frowned.

His tone remained calm, but the question carried obvious weight. Fulgur met his gaze without blinking.

"You will definitely lose Lebanon and the rest of the Middle East to us."

Silence followed and even the wind seemed to settle. Racheal unconsciously straightened in her seat while Rin’s ears twitched. Both quietly watched Damian, expecting the same explosive reaction he normally reserved for anyone arrogant enough to make such a declaration.

Instead, Damian simply tilted his head slightly to one side. There was no anger, just curiosity. His eyes quietly studied the dragon standing opposite him. The longer he looked, the stranger he felt.

No matter how he examined this man, hatred simply refused to appear. This was the first demon Damian genuinely believed would be a waste to kill.

Fulgur possessed strength, wisdom, patience, discipline and most importantly, he possessed honesty.

Damian had spent his entire life surrounded by politicians, criminals, judges, demons and manipulators. Honest men were frighteningly rare. If someone like this stood beside him wouldn’t everything become much easier?

The thought came naturally. Before anyone could react, Damian spoke.

"Join me. I’ll make you my right hand man."

There wasn’t even the slightest hesitation behind the offer. Racheal’s mouth slowly opened. Even Rin stared blankly toward Damian.

Neither of them had expected those words.

Fulgur himself appeared mildly surprised, only briefly and then he calmly shook his head.

"No."

Damian’s brows furrowed.

"Why?"

"Because it is against the natural law of things."

"What?"

His confusion only deepened.

Seeing the genuine incomprehension in Damian’s eyes, Fulgur let out a quiet chuckle before spreading both hands apart.

"Dragons are creatures born closest to perfection. We are symbols of wisdom, Power, Benevolence And even chaos. Even angels and demons envy our existence. So naturally a dragon belongs upon the Abyssal Throne."

There wasn’t even a trace of arrogance within his words. He merely stated what, to him, was undeniable truth.

"My world was different from yours. Long before kingdoms rose dragons brought civilization to mankind. We taught humans language. We shared magic, knowledge and watched over nations."

For the first time since the battle began...

Something resembling nostalgia appeared in his eyes.

What these people did not know was that Kazier was once the Dragon Emperor in their home world. He ruled through wisdom rather than fear, settled disputes before wars began and even protected every race beneath his wings without discrimination.

His grace earned admiration from dragons, humans, elves, dwarves and countless others it was the dirty politics of the underworld and inheritance of wrath that changed him

As his ministers and advisors who stood in his royal court back in his days as a dragon emperor, Fulgur and the others strongly believed helping their master achieve his dream and removing obstacles will bring back the benovolence and grace they once knew. And in their opinion, a universe ruled by Kaizer would be a prosperous one.

It was not a dragons place to seek the aid of humans. It was in the humans place to beg for the mercy of dragons. Even if Kaizer is killed, Fulgur simply could not see himself serving any other being that is not a dragon.

Damian quietly observed him for several long moments. Once again, his instincts confirmed every word. Fulgur wasn’t belittling humanity, he genuinely believed this was simply how existence ought to be.

Finally Damian nodded.

"I understand."

That was all he said, there was nothing else worth arguing over. After a brief pause, Damian slowly lifted his chin until his eyes met Fulgur’s once more.

"In my world dragons existed. So did dinosaurs and countless monsters humanity still struggles to understand. We even shared the earth with giants and other species of humans."

"They’re all gone."

Damian’s words carried no pride but only fact.

"My people remained and now we stand at the very top of the food chain of our world. So when I ask you to serve me, you are not speaking to a defeated human begging before dragons. You are speaking to the descendant of a race whose ancestors became strong enough to drive yours into extinction."

Buzz!

For the very first time, Fulgur’s composure cracked. A deep frown slowly twisted across his face. Everything Damian had just said challenged the very foundation of the worldview he had upheld for centuries.

He wanted to deny it immediately. Yet, he couldn’t. Dragons in Damian’s world no longer existed. That alone puts them below humans on the food chain in this planet.

After a long silence, Fulgur finally spoke.

"I understand the logic behind your words, but I cannot accept it." His tone had become noticeably colder.

Damian nodded once.

"Then prove me wrong."

His voice dropped into a low hiss.

The next instant violet flames erupted violently around his body. The infernal fire spiraled upward like a raging storm, causing the mountain beneath his feet to crack as overwhelming demonic power surged madly into the heavens.
