Chapter 165 - 164: The Power of the New Magic
At the same time, Marcus let out a taunting Battle Cry, then raised his Shield and Charged!
The most hot-tempered Minotaur refused to be outdone. It lowered its head with a low roar and met Marcus’s Charge head-on with its hard horns!
CRASH!!!
The hard horns slammed heavily against Marcus’s Shield, which was shimmering with the light of Fighting Qi.
But unfortunately for it, the blow failed to break through Marcus’s defense.
The Minotaur was instead sent staggering back, its head spinning.
Marcus followed up with a swing of his Battle Saber, leaving several deep, bloody gashes on its hide.
’Perfect... time to test the power of my new Magic.’
Zelir raised his Night Peace Magic Wand. After a brief charging process, seven blazing Fireballs materialized in front of him.
Fractal Fire!
WHOOSH! WHOOSH! WHOOSH!!!
The Fireballs shot out one after another like cannonballs.
Zelir instantly took control of the battlefield.
His overwhelming power blasted back all the Minotaurs trying to flank Marcus!
The searing heat and dispersed Magic Power left behind patches of charred flesh where they struck!
But this was just an appetizer.
Surging Magic Power circulated once more. This time, an even more powerful spell finished charging!
Dispersal-form Aurora Energy Beam!
From the tip of the Night Peace Staff, a pillar of blue light swept out, slamming squarely into the leading yellow-furred Minotaur.
BOOM!!!
The dazzling light completely devoured its upper body. Compared to the impact area of an Arcane Missile, the dispersal-form Aurora Energy Beam was clearly far more ferocious!
The yellow-furred Minotaur’s body above the waist was blasted into splattering chunks of flesh!
"AWOOOO..."
The other Minotaurs were still clutching their burned chests and wailing in agony when they turned to see their leader’s upper half had vanished.
A sense of incomprehensible terror instantly spread through their hearts.
’What the hell is this?’
’How did we end up provoking such a terrifying Adventurer Squad?’
They ignored their pain, scrambled up from the ground, and prepared to flee for their lives.
"So now you’re scared..."
Zelir sneered.
"Too late!"
Of course, he wasn’t going to let them get away.
He first used Wind Blade Technique on their legs to prevent them from escaping.
Then, Zelir blasted the fallen Minotaurs one by one in the head with Arcane Missiles. It was a one-sided execution.
Before long, all five Minotaurs had been eliminated!
Zelir personally landed the killing blow on every Minotaur to ensure he maximized his Experience Points.
Level 16 (233/475) -> Level 17 (358/500). Level up!
Before distributing his attribute points, Zelir subconsciously glanced below Technique Celestial Calculation.
The progress bars for Blazing Shield and Ring of Resistance were less than ten percent from completion. He estimated it would only take another day or two.
This time, Zelir chose to increase his Intelligence.
Power: 95
Agility: 105
Constitution: 98
Spirit: 119
Intelligence: 114 -> 118
Perception: 32
Charm: 54 -> 55
Lucky: 51
Talent Skills:
Technique Celestial Calculation
Magic Contract
Level Five Magic was already quite high-level and had strict requirements for the Intelligence Attribute.
Zelir could cast Level Four Magic fluidly now, but he wasn’t so confident about the next tier up.
The stronger his Intelligence Attribute, the more fluidly he could use Magic.
A Defensive Magic spell that you could only cast haltingly was naturally inferior to one you could cast as smoothly as flowing water.
Besides, increasing his Intelligence Attribute would also boost the analysis speed of Technique Celestial Calculation.
Zelir still had his eye on the Level Four Multi-Layered Magic Technique Structure: Flame Thunder Spear.
The battle was over.
"Phew."
Gray walked over and kicked the corpses of the Minotaurs whose heads Zelir had obliterated.
"These guys have some brains... but not much. A little bit of strategy and they take the bait easily."
"Let’s go check on Valles," Marcus said after inspecting his Shield.
The three squad members returned to where the black-furred Minotaur had been guarding the villagers.
Valles had already used his Curved Saber to cut the hemp ropes, freeing the villagers.
Five villagers sat slumped on the ground, rubbing their reddened wrists.
They were still shaken, unable to believe what had just happened before their eyes.
’That black-furred Minotaur... was actually killed by this Half-Elf with a single arrow?’
’And these other Adventurers walking over...’
The villagers had also heard the commotion from Zelir unleashing his powerful Magic up ahead.
"You... You are..." a woman splattered with blood mustered the courage to speak.
"We’re the Adventurer Squad hired by the village to exterminate the Minotaurs."
Marcus said, "All the Minotaurs have been eliminated. You’re safe now."
Hearing Marcus’s words, the heavy weight on their hearts finally lifted, and the five villagers breathed a sigh of relief.
’Thank the gods... They arrived just in time!’
"Alright, the Demons are all dead, and the people have been rescued."
Gray clapped his hands in satisfaction. "With this, our mission is successfully completed."
After collecting the Demon Cores from the Minotaurs’ bodies, Zelir figured there wasn’t much else to clean up on the battlefield.
So, he started walking toward where they had tied the horses.
But Gray called out to him.
"Zelir, you’re leaving just like that?"
"Is there something else we need to do?" Zelir asked with a slight frown, a little confused.
"The Minotaur leg meat, don’t you know?"
Gray waved him over. "It’s the tastiest part of their bodies."
"Huh...?"
Zelir was a bit bewildered. "You can eat this stuff?"
’Minotaurs are Demons, after all. I’d rather not get food poisoning like with those Blood Crown Mushrooms.’
"You can indeed. It’s delicious, and some restaurants even feature it as a specialty to attract customers."
Valles spoke up as well.
"The other parts of a Minotaur are nothing special, but the leg meat is exceptionally tender and delicious. Even the breeds of calf specially raised in the Kingdom can’t compare to Minotaur leg meat."
"Perfect. We have horses this time, so let’s cut off all the leg meat and take it back with us." Marcus also rolled up his sleeves, ready to get to work.
Gray was truly skilled when it came to butchering meat. He handled almost the entire process of carving up the leg meat himself.
The cuts of Minotaur leg were a tender red and had beautiful marbling.
Zelir assisted him.
The five villagers, however, watched with a mixture of confusion and fear. The heads of the Minotaur corpses scattered on the ground were all blown to bits...
One of them was even missing its entire upper body.
’This squad is way too strong, aren’t they?’
After all the spoils were collected, the group set off on the road back to the village.
They only had three horses, but there were nine people in total.
Having three people ride one horse was clearly not feasible, so the squad simply gave all three horses to the five villagers.
