Chapter 115: Vault Door Trembling, The Primary’s Warning
"What happens now?"
"She fights it. Loses. Fights again. Loses again. Each fight shorter than the last. Each loss deeper. Until she stops fighting."
"How long?"
"Depends on how stubborn the Steel Lotus is."
"Very."
"Then soon. The stubborn ones always break fastest. Because they’ve been holding the most."
*She kissed me like the building was on fire and I was the only exit. Her hands shook. Her voice broke. She said my name like a prayer she stopped believing in years ago.*
*Phase 2. The shell is cracked. And she knows it.*
*Next time she’ll either rebuild the walls thicker or tear them down completely. Either way, she’ll be thinking about my mouth on hers when she does.*
---
February 21st. Peninsula Tokyo. 1:14 AM.
Lucas sat on the hotel bed. Still dressed. Collar wrinkled. Lips still carrying the ghost of Tomoe’s mouth. The taste of green tea and sixteen years of loneliness coating his tongue.
Elena was awake. Of course she was. Elena Vance didn’t sleep when her boyfriend came home at 1 AM wearing another woman’s kiss. She sat cross-legged on the bed. Notebook open. Pen in hand. Reading glasses low on her nose. Platinum hair loose. His t-shirt. Nothing else. Her heavy tits pressing against the fabric. 36DD. The outline visible in the lamplight. She’d been waiting.
She looked at him. Looked at his collar. The wrinkles where fingers had gripped fabric. Her jaw tightened one degree.
"She grabbed your shirt."
"She grabbed my shirt."
"That’s not intellectual sparring."
"No. It wasn’t."
Elena set down her pen. Closed the notebook. Put both hands flat on her knees. The posture she used when something mattered enough to say without armor.
"Tell me."
He told her. The vote. The fury. Tomoe standing at the window with her fist against glass. The unfinished sentence. The four steps that erased kendo distance. The kiss. How it tasted. How it felt. The Pleasure Touch triggering. The moan from somewhere deep in her chest. The second kiss. Slower. Her hand on his chest. "You’re real." "I should stop." "I don’t want to stop." The confession at the door.
Elena listened. Silent. Her face unreadable. The Ice Queen processing data that wasn’t numbers.
When he finished, thirty seconds of silence passed. Then a minute.
"Tomoe Ito kissed you." Elena’s voice was flat. Clinical. "The Steel Lotus. Chair of the Ethics Committee. Who hasn’t been touched in eight years. Who doesn’t text. Who schedules human interaction like committee hearings. Kissed you. In her office. At night. After losing a vote."
"Yes."
Elena took off her reading glasses. Set them on the nightstand. Pressed her fingers to her temples.
"Be careful with her, Lucas."
"I know."
"You don’t." She pulled her knees up. His t-shirt swallowing her. Looking small. Elena never looked small. "You think you know because you’ve done this before. Elena. Victoria. Yuki. Diana. Four women. Four successes. You think the pattern holds." Gray eyes locked on his. "Tomoe is different."
"How?"
"I broke, Lucas. Richard broke me. Eleven years of erosion. I was already in pieces when you found me in that laundry room. You just picked them up. That’s different from someone who hasn’t broken yet."
She shifted closer. Her hand on his knee. Warm. Steady.
"Tomoe hasn’t broken. She’s been holding. Holding for sixteen years. Discipline. Control. Structure. Every wall reinforced daily. She’s not fragile. She’s load-bearing. The kind of structure that, when it fails, doesn’t crack." Elena’s grip tightened. "It collapses."
*Elena is describing structural engineering applied to human psychology. She’s right. I broke her gently. She was already fractured. Tomoe is monolithic. Monolithic things don’t crack. They detonate.*
"When she breaks, and she will, it’s going to be catastrophic. Everything she’s suppressed for sixteen years hitting at once. All the loneliness. All the touch starvation. All the identity crisis. It won’t be a crack. It’ll be a detonation."
"And you want me there."
"I want you there. I want you steady. I want you to catch her." Elena’s voice softened. "But she’s not me. She’s a woman who built her entire existence around not needing anyone. When she finally needs you, it will consume her. And you need to be ready for that."
"Ready how?"
"Don’t push. Don’t use abilities. Let her come to you. She’s never surrendered control in her life. If you try to take it, she’ll retreat. If you wait, she’ll give it."
"How long?"
"However long it takes. I took three months. She might take six. She might take a year. But when she finally lets go, it’ll be total. Complete. Everything she is." Elena leaned forward. Kissed his forehead. "And you need to be strong enough to hold all of it."
His phone buzzed. Tomoe. 1:22 AM.
*I shouldn’t have done that. It was unprofessional. Inappropriate. Everything I’ve spent sixteen years preventing.*
*But I’m not sorry.*
*I should be sorry. I’m not.*
*What does that mean?*
Elena read over his shoulder. Her expression shifted. Something between sympathy and recognition.
"She’s already breaking. Faster than I expected." Elena picked up her notebook. Wrote one word in red ink. Underlined it twice.
*Detonation.*
"She’ll text you again tomorrow. Probably apologizing. Then taking it back. Then apologizing for taking it back. That’s what breaking looks like when you’ve never done it before. Chaotic. Contradictory. Messy."
"How do you know?"
"Because that’s what I did. ’God help me, I do.’ One text. Then panic. Then more texts. Then showing up at your door in nothing but a shirt." She closed the notebook. "She’s going to show up somewhere. At some point. Wearing something that means more than clothing. And when she does, you’re going to be standing in the middle of a woman falling apart for the first time in her life."
"Are you okay with this?"
Elena looked at him. The question mattered. She heard the weight.
"I’m okay with you caring about her. I’m okay with you kissing her. I’m okay with you being the person she breaks against." Her voice was steady. "I’m not okay with you breaking her. And I’m not okay with you not being there when she needs you. Those are my conditions."
She lay back. Pulled the blanket up. Closed her eyes.
"Go to sleep. Tomorrow she’s going to send you something contradictory and vulnerable and you’re going to need the energy to respond correctly."
*Elena just gave me a tactical briefing on handling a woman’s emotional collapse. While wearing my t-shirt with nothing underneath. She’s managing my harem, my schedule, and my emotional intelligence simultaneously. She’s the most terrifying person I’ve ever met. And she’s mine.*
---
Three days of silence.
Three days of nothing from Tomoe. No texts. No calls. No scheduling at her convenience. Complete blackout.
Lucas checked his phone forty-seven times on day one. Thirty-two times on day two. By day three, he’d stopped checking and started worrying.
Aurora monitored. "Her digital footprint is unchanged. Diet sessions attended. Committee meetings logged. She’s functioning. Professional. External observers would notice nothing different."
"But?"
"But she ordered takeout to her office three nights in a row. Her chief of staff Hiroshi posted on his personal blog about ’unusual working hours’ at the Ethics Committee office. She’s not sleeping."
"She’s fighting it."
"She’s losing. She just doesn’t know it yet."
Day three. 11 PM. Lucas at the hotel. Elena reading beside him. Aiko asleep in the connecting room. Yuki in Hakone with Satsuki.
His phone rang.
Not buzzed. Not texted. Rang. The actual phone function that most people under thirty forgot existed.
Tomoe’s number on the screen.
He picked up.
Her voice was different. Not the Oxford-accented precision. Not the parliamentary diction. Raw. Frayed at the edges. The voice of a woman who hadn’t slept in three days and had been arguing with herself the entire time.
"I can’t stop thinking about it."
"Tomoe."
"Don’t call me that. Not on the phone. Not when I can’t see your face."
"What should I call you?"
Silence. Breathing. The sound of a woman standing at the edge of something and trying to decide whether to jump.
"Come here. And call me whatever you want."
The line went dead.

⚠️ Three days of silence.
Followed by a phone call.
At 11 PM.
"Come here."
Elena’s prediction: CONFIRMED.
"She’s going to show up
somewhere wearing something
that means more than clothing."
She’s not showing up.
She’s summoning.
The distinction matters.
⚠️ BREAKTHROUGH WINDOW: TONIGHT
⚠️ ELENA’S WARNING STANDS:
"When she breaks, it will be
catastrophic. Be there."
```
Elena looked at him. She’d heard. The walls in this hotel were thin but Elena’s ears weren’t.
"She called you."
"She called me."
"Go." She pulled the blanket back. Stood. Walked to him. Took his face in her hands. Gray eyes steady. Certain. Terrifying in their certainty. "Catch her, Lucas. She’s falling."
She kissed him. Hard. Brief.
"Go."
