Chapter 589 - 382: Tokyo Trip (11)
Pinned in his arms, she couldn’t escape no matter how she struggled. After a few futile attempts, Jiang Yao gave up. She lifted her small, water-beaded face to glare resentfully at Chen Yuan, then, after a long moment, awkwardly turned away.
"Not going to tell me, are you?" Chen Yuan whispered in her ear.
Jiang Yao turned her fair-skinned neck back toward him and snorted. The meaning was clear. ’If I don’t want to talk, what are you going to do? Pry my mouth open?’
’Besides, as for why I didn’t tell him I was coming to Tokyo, doesn’t he know the reason himself? He really has to ask? He doesn’t understand girls at all.’
However, just as she held her breath, ready to give him the silent treatment...
Chen Yuan’s hand slid to her waist and began to attack her ticklish spots. Caught completely off guard, she yelped. She couldn’t dodge, pinned as she was. As tight ripples spread across the water’s surface, Jiang Yao couldn’t hold back her laughter.
"HAHAHAHA... Stop it!"
Then, Chen Yuan didn’t just tickle her; his hand roamed with audacious freedom, stroking her full, shapely bottom and her soft, supple thighs.
Jiang Yao let out a couple of soft whimpers, her cheeks flushing as she protested coyly.
"Don’t, that feels strange... It’s too embarrassing out here, stop..."
"Then talk."
Chen Yuan drew his hand back. The wonderful sensation of her skin filled him with a boundless tenderness.
What made him even happier was that he could enjoy this bliss for the entire night.
"Because I’ve always been too good to you." The completely unexpected sentence left Chen Yuan stunned.
Taking advantage of his stunned silence, Jiang Yao planted her feet against the side of the pool. With a slight push from her slender calves, she glided away like a fish. The azure water rippled over her fair skin, and the diamond-shaped sequins on her streamlined swimsuit glittered, reflecting the magnificent Tokyo Tower.
"I’ve been reflecting on how I treat you," she said, turning in the water to face Chen Yuan. "It’s precisely because I’m always so good to you that you’re never afraid I’ll leave. You just complacently plot how to keep my sister around without ever considering my feelings. Compared to her, am I not important at all?"
"I’m not some backup option. I’m not like hair that just grows back after you cut it, or a fingernail that grows back after it breaks. I’m a living, breathing person, and one who gets hurt very easily. I tried my best not to mind, but all that got me was you becoming even more careless with my feelings."
"That’s why I had to leave you. I wanted to make you feel what it’s like to be at risk of losing someone. I don’t want to be so close to you anymore, pouring my entire being into you."
Jiang Yao looked him straight in the eye.
"I don’t care whether you’ve done right by my sister, or whether she’s done right by you. All I know is that I’m the one person who is most qualified to say that I have never wronged you. So, tell me, Young Master, have you ever considered if you’ve done right by me?"
While Chen Yuan was still trying to unravel the logic in her tangled words, Jiang Yao delivered the final verdict herself.
"You haven’t."
She suddenly sank beneath the surface, leaving only her narrowed, shimmering eyes visible. Her puffed-out cheeks released a stream of air, and a trail of bubbles went BLUB, BLUB, BLUB as they rose from the water.
Then, just as suddenly, Jiang Yao rose from the water. She tossed her soaking wet hair, sending a graceful arc of countless droplets flying through the air. For a moment, two exquisitely beautiful lines appeared on her tensed neck, then vanished as she relaxed.
Jiang Yao shot him a look of pure arrogance, and Chen Yuan, still soaking in the pool, could only stare, dumbfounded.
Amid the cold, hard lines of the bustling metropolis, the curves of her body were as perfect as an ethereal dream.
"So that’s how you feel... I get it now." Chen Yuan suddenly understood the heart of the issue. "Of course you’re important to me, Yaoyao. I want you by my side forever. I never want you to leave. You’re not my backup plan; you’re my one and only. No matter where you go, I will always come find you and make things right."
"Easy for you to say."
Jiang Yao snorted, but she wasn’t nearly as angry anymore. She had no real intention of continuing the cold war, either. The fact that Chen Yuan had come all the way to Tokyo just to find her had already proven how important she was to him.
So, deep down, the young woman was actually thrilled.
Even the tone of her words lacked any real iciness, holding only a hint of complaint.
"But since you’re here now, that proves you’re not all talk," Jiang Yao added after a moment of hesitation. "Actually... a while ago, I saw how hard you were working, and my heart really ached for you. It’s just, we weren’t on speaking terms, so I couldn’t say anything. Anyway, congratulations... My sister told me you got appointed to some new position? I don’t really get the details... but that’s pretty amazing, my dear Young Master. As your girlfriend, I’m so happy for you~"
"Yaoyao, you’re the best."
"Hmph. As long as you know it."
After opening their hearts to each other, they quickly forgot all about the unpleasantness back in Lanjing. Jiang Yao happily basked in Chen Yuan’s gentle affection.
Chen Yuan’s world was vast, but she was a simple girl with simple dreams. She didn’t want to possess a vast world; she only wanted to possess him.
Her desires were just that simple.
The two of them leaned against the edge of the rooftop pool, admiring the towering Tokyo Tower and the surrounding skyscrapers of the great metropolis. With a view this good, Jiang Yao, of course, wanted to take a picture to remember it.
So, she urged Chen Yuan to go get her phone from the bedroom.
It was cold out of the water, so he dragged his feet, reluctant to go. But after a bit of pouting and wheedling from Jiang Yao, a few sweet words were all it took to turn his brain to mush. He willingly hoisted himself out of the pool to go get her phone.
