Chapter 679 - 456: You Shut Up Too
Qi Yingchen didn’t dare to speak, just nodding vigorously without looking up.
"I didn’t think you’d get so audacious, doing nothing but monstrous things," Chen Yuan couldn’t help but clench his fists, a dangerous glint in his eyes. "If I hadn’t come looking for you, were you planning to run my fiancée down before you’d finally stop?"
"How could that be!? I would never dare to do something like that! It was all my assistant’s—"
"Shut up!" Secretary Lin’s secretary, who was standing nearby, barked.
Then, Pei Youwen strode forward. Standing over Qi Yingchen, he lifted his leg high and stomped on his face as if kicking a dead dog.
The kick sent Qi Yingchen stumbling backward and falling flat on the ground.
There was no holding back on that kick. Even for a man as big and tall as Qi Yingchen, it left him dizzy, a fiery pain searing his face.
But he scrambled back to his feet at once and began kowtowing forcefully on the ground.
"I was wrong! I deserve to die! I’ll disappear from Miss Jiangg’s life and never show my face again! I hope you can calm your anger, Mr. Chen."
"Heh. That’s not what you said in your text last night."
As Chen Yuan finished speaking, Pei Youwen pulled out a phone and shoved it in Qi Yingchen’s face.
"Read it out loud," Chen Yuan said in a low voice.
"I..."
Qi Yingchen steeled himself. His forehead was already bright red from its recent, intimate encounter with the floor.
He was scared silent. He couldn’t even work up the courage to look at the screen, let alone read the message aloud.
"You had the guts to send it, but you don’t have the guts to read it? You motherfucker! You really think you’re somebody, don’t you?"
Pei was a ruthless man by nature. He lifted his leg and brought it crashing down in a vicious axe kick to Qi Yingchen’s face.
Everyone clearly saw Qi Yingchen’s neck snap back at an unnatural angle as he collapsed to the ground, his face a mask of agony.
"S-Sorry... Mr. Jiang..." he begged, his voice hoarse.
"I told you to read it."

"I don’t dare! I’ll never dare again... I’m an animal."
Bright red blood gushed from Qi Yingchen’s nose, soaking the front of his shirt in an instant. Yet his wretched state earned him not a single shred of sympathy from anyone present.
Secretary Lin’s secretary had been carefully observing the situation. Seeing that Chen Yuan’s face remained completely expressionless, he sighed to himself.
’So he’s a ruthless one, too...’
"Ahem. You’d better explain yourself clearly. Don’t go causing more trouble after you walk out this door," the secretary said.
"You’re just a piece of scum. Our Young Master has never even given you the time of day. Did you really think you could make waves?" Pei Youwen spat hard on the floor. "We don’t have to lift a finger to deal with you. If we put the word out today, you’ll be forced to get the hell out of Mingzhu City by tomorrow."
By all accounts, Chen Yuan was a kind-hearted young man of good character—a good kid shaped by his schooling, a college student in the prime of his life.
He never liked to throw his weight around and bully people.
That was why he hadn’t directly intervened in the Jiangg Family’s affairs, instead choosing to go to great lengths to help them.
But no one could ignore his background.
Pei Youwen’s words were no exaggeration.
"So you’ve got a lot of tricks up your sleeve, huh?" Chen Yuan stood up, looking down on Qi Yingchen. "You’re not just going to let us off the hook, are you? Mingzhu City is your turf, and no outsider can touch a local tyrant like you, is that it? Still pulling these kinds of stunts in a society governed by law."
"I... I didn’t know about your relationship with the Jiangg Family, Mr. Jiang! If I had known, I wouldn’t have dared to make a move, not even if you gave me ten times the courage! You would only have had to say the word... no, you wouldn’t even have to say anything, and I would have scrammed and stayed far away." Qi Yingchen scrambled up again, his face a tear-streaked mess, and knelt at Chen Yuan’s feet to kowtow. "I was wrong, Mr. Jiang! Please, be the bigger person and forgive me..."
"Still trying to guilt-trip him at a time like this? You son of a bitch!" Pei Youwen grabbed him by the hair, yanking his head back like he was dragging a dead dog.
Director Yang had never intended to intervene in a scene like this. He had brought Qi Yingchen over purely to put the matter to rest.
After all, if things were dug into too deeply, it would reflect poorly on him as well.
He was waiting for Chen Yuan’s anger to cool so that he could step in and smooth things over.
Director Yang watched Chen Yuan, a hint of apprehension in his eyes, and hesitated over whether he should intervene now.
"He’s just a rabid dog, Mr. Jiang. Calm yourself." Finally, Director Yang spoke, raising his head with a smile. "Beating him would only dirty your hands."
The moment the director spoke, Qi Yingchen shot him a hopeful, grateful look.
He knew the only person who could save him now was the director right in front of him.
"You can shut up, too."
To everyone’s utter astonishment.
Chen Yuan turned his head and delivered a cold warning to Director Yang.
