Chapter 235: Superior-class Tower

The post-tournament celebration was loud, bright, and completely packed.

Every team, every official, and every fan who could afford a ticket filled the massive stadium. The awards ceremony was in full swing. Down on the central stage, Amara and the Free Territories stood under the spotlights, hoisting the heavy champion’s trophy into the air. Nathan stood on the sidelines with his party, watching them. His ribs still ached, and his mana was tapped, but he smiled. Despite the loss, he felt proud. They had made it to the global finals. They had fought well.

High above the field, the referee’s holographic orb-face flashed a giant, animated fireworks emoji.

"Congratulations to all our competitors!" the construct’s voice boomed over the speakers. "This has been the greatest tournament in System history! And now, let the closing ceremonies begin!"

The crowd roared. Real fireworks exploded in the night sky above the open stadium. Upbeat music thumped through the speakers.

Then, the concrete floor shook.

Deep beneath the stadium, in the dark maintenance tunnels, the grey-robed figures finished their work.

The massive network of parasitic crystals blazed with blinding white light. The geometric circle they had carved into the foundation hummed with stolen energy. The bulky leader raised his massive hands toward the ceiling.

"Now!" he roared over the sound of the trembling earth. "Create the Lord!"

The pale light erupted upward. But the smaller figure—the woman who had hesitated earlier—stumbled backward. She stared at the center of the light, her eyes wide with absolute horror. Her voice shook as she yelled over the noise.

"Wait... something’s wrong! I don’t see a body forming. It’s building... architecture!"

"Silence!" the bulky leader snapped, glaring at her.

But she didn’t stop. She pointed a trembling finger at the swirling magic. "It’s not a Lord! It’s not a monster! It’s... it’s a Tower! We’re summoning a Tower!"

The bulky leader’s face went dead pale. "What?"

Before he could move, the light exploded.

Up on the surface, the stadium didn’t crumble. It didn’t collapse into rubble. It simply dissolved.

The stone walls, the metal bleachers, the massive holographic screens, the turf field—all of it dissolved into pure, blinding white light. The light swirled violently upward, twisting and hardening into a colossal new shape.

A Tower.

It rose directly from the crater where the stadium used to be. It was enormous—wider and taller than any natural Tower Nathan had ever seen. Its surface was made of jagged black and silver metal, covered from top to bottom in runes that pulsed with a sickly, pale glow. Its peak pierced straight through the clouds.

And as it fully materialized, its gravity shifted. Every single person in the area—competitors, spectators, camera crews, and officials—was violently pulled inside.

---

Nathan hit the ground hard.

He groaned, pushing himself up out of cold, damp dirt. He blinked, trying to clear his vision. He wasn’t on a stadium floor anymore. He was in a forest.

The trees around him were towering and silver, their strange metallic leaves glowing with a faint, eerie light. The sky above wasn’t a night sky; it was a swirling, toxic purple. The air was freezing and smelled like ozone.

All around him, thousands of people were scattered across the massive forest clearing. Civilians in casual clothes were picking themselves up, confused and terrified. Climbers were already reaching for their weapons.

Nathan quickly found his team. Elise was right beside him, brushing dirt off her coat. Garrett, Dillon, and Smithy were a few yards away, helping each other up. Mirko, Kuro, Shiro, and Ororo were already on their feet, scanning the tree line.

Nathan looked past them. Amara and her team were there. Kaito was checking his sword. Arthur Reinhardt was helping a terrified civilian to her feet. Long Wei, Han Seo-jun, and all the other tournament champions were scattered through the crowd.

Nathan looked up. The silver trees stretched high, but beyond them, he could see the curved, metallic inner walls of the structure stretching endlessly upward.

Then, a System message appeared.

It didn’t just appear for Nathan. Every Climber, every official, and every unawakened civilian in the forest saw the exact same glowing red text hover in front of their eyes.

[You have entered a Superior-Class Tower: Lord Creation.]

The glowing red words hung in the cold air.

For ten seconds, there was absolute silence.

Then, the screaming started.

"Superior-Class?!" a nearby guild official yelled, his face completely drained of color.

"That’s impossible! A Superior Tower hasn’t spawned in fifty years! They’ve never been cleared!"

"We’re going to die! We’re all going to die!"

The unawakened civilians completely panicked. People ran in blind circles. Families clutched each other and wept into the dirt. Even the veteran Climbers—men and women who fought monsters for a living—stood frozen in place, staring at the red text in pure terror.

Nathan felt his stomach drop. A Superior-Class Tower. The absolute highest threat classification the Babel System had that was known to hunanity. It was universally considered a death sentence. No raid team had ever cleared one. No one had ever walked out alive.

Dillon stared blankly at the sky, his voice hollow. "We’re trapped. With thousands of civilians. Inside a Superior-Class Tower."

Garrett gripped Volcan, his hands physically shaking. "This isn’t a tournament anymore, man. It’s a mass grave."

Smithy pushed his glasses up his nose. He was pale, but his eyes were darting around, analyzing their surroundings. "The grey robes caused this. The Tower was created by their ritual. It’s definitely artificial. That means it might not follow the normal System rules. There has to be a way to shut it down from the inside. We just need to find the core."

Amara walked over to them, her bone staff glowing faintly. The spirits hovering around her shoulders were agitated, darting back and forth in a panic.

"The ancestors are terrified," Amara said softly. "They’ve never felt an environment like this. This Tower isn’t just a dungeon. It’s alive. And it is incredibly hungry."

Kaito walked up, his katana already drawn, his eyes sharp. "Then we kill it before it eats us."

Arthur Reinhardt stepped into the group, his heavy armor clanking. He shook his head. "You cannot kill a Tower, Kaito. You can only clear it."

"Then we clear it," Long Wei said, walking up beside Arthur and cracking his knuckles. "Together. Nation borders don’t mean anything in here."

Nathan looked at the small circle of champions—his former rivals, now his only allies. They were all trapped. They were all out of their depth.

He turned and looked at the screaming civilians. There were children crying. Parents panicking. People who had just bought a ticket to watch a sporting event, now trapped in the deadliest place on earth.

He looked at his party. He looked at Elise.

"We need to move," Nathan said, his voice cutting through the panic. "If we stay out in the open, we’re sitting ducks. We need to find shelter. We need to protect these people. And we need to figure out what the Clear Condition is."

He gripped Moonlight tight and looked toward the dense, glowing silver trees.

"We don’t stop until we find a way out," Nathan said. "We don’t stop until these people are safe. We don’t stop until we win."

The champions nodded, their grips tightening on their weapons. Elise moved to his side.

Nathan took a breath of the cold, purple air. "Let’s move."
