Chapter 1555 - 1556: An Inescapable Net
In Wu Dayong’s heart, emotions were mixed, as if a bottle of five flavors had been overturned.
The look of utmost supplication and the posture of yielding and advancing moved the listener.
However, Ye Fan looked on coldly, unmoved, without revealing a hint of sympathy, nor making any promises.
Ye Fan gave Wu Dayong a helpless look, then turned and left.
"Stop, you stop for me." Wu Dayong’s frantic scream.
Ye Fan turned a deaf ear and left the interrogation room.
Until Ye Fan’s figure disappeared, Wu Dayong felt as if all his strength had been drained, and he collapsed, sitting weakly on the chair.
His eyes were lifeless, unfocused, like a walking corpse, devoid of any human color.
He had already begged as much as he could, promised to repay with a thousand gratitudes in the next life, and was even willing to kneel, all to gain Ye Fan’s sympathy and sense of justice to protect his elderly mother thoroughly.
He stated every condition he could think of.
To the actual situation, however, it was of no help.
Wu Dayong was in despair; he finally realized the consequences of being a prisoner.
In fact, this was already considered good treatment compared to his past actions of cruelty and decisiveness. Ye Fan’s attitude towards him couldn’t have been better.
"I deserve it, I deserve it."
"Retribution, it’s inevitable."
Wu Dayong’s voice was low, full of sorrow, his heart cut like a knife, but it was too late for regret.
Outside the interrogation room.
Zhang Lu looked at Ye Fan with a peculiar expression, puzzled, and asked: "You’ve clearly set a trap as tight as a net; once the enemy appears near Wu Dayong’s mother, they’ll fall into it. But why don’t you reveal this to Wu Dayong, so he’d be grateful and willing to wait for the right moment, then Wu Dayong would certainly reveal the answers we want."
"What Wu Dayong has done, let him bear it himself. I have no obligation or responsibility to make him bear a little less sin. He was ruthless and unkind in the past, and now as a prisoner, he should bear the consequences he ought to, and no one can atone for him."
Ye Fan said blandly, "Wu Dayong’s mother is a mother and cannot be equated with Wu Dayong. It’s our duty to protect Wu Dayong’s mother, but it has nothing to do with Wu Dayong."
"Such a ruthless character as Wu Dayong, encountering a master like you, is truly unfortunate." Li Tong laughed gleefully, "Seeing Wu Dayong’s weakly pleading appearance is really satisfying."
She had not an ounce of goodwill toward Wu Dayong; her partner Song Ziya died at the hands of Wu Dayong and the Transforming Mouse.
If it weren’t for Wu Dayong still having value, she would wish for Wu Dayong to die immediately.
This blood feud was a thorn in Li Tong’s heart.
"Aren’t you afraid Wu Dayong will feel antagonistic towards you? Even if his mother is ultimately safe, he’ll still withhold, and if he doesn’t reveal all the information, we can’t do anything." Zhang Lu had her concerns.
"Wu Dayong has reached a dead end with no choice but to go along with our arrangements. Any resistance and defiance would be unwise. Wu Dayong is not a fool; he knows what to do." Ye Fan was full of confidence.
......
Night had already fallen.
Qiu Wen, Shen Yaqing, and Zhang Kui were ambushed around Wu Dayong’s mother’s home.
The three lay in wait early, in case of orders from ’Hunter Cat’ to exert pressure from outside, as Ye Fan had already made arrangements for this.
The goal was to catch the enemy unprepared.
And just as Ye Fan predicted, the ’Hunter Cat’ indeed fell for it.
Now, the leverage on ’Hunter Cat’ was in Ye Fan’s hands. ’Hunter Cat’ couldn’t stay out of it; falling for the trap was inevitable.
In fact, ’Hunter Cat’s decision was wise; trying to silence Wu Dayong and Zhao Gongming directly was a very risky move, with very low chances of success.
Unfortunately, ’Hunter Cat’ miscalculated, not realizing Ye Fan had secretly gathered a powerful force, lying dormant, ready to act at the right moment.
’Hunter Cat’ trying to learn about this through an insider was out of the question.
Therefore, the lack of understanding of Ye Fan led to rash actions, naturally ending in failure.
Following ’Hunter Cat’s instructions, Cheng Mu and Yang Chu acted separately.
Yang Chu targeted Wu Dayong’s mother.
After night fell, following some simple scouting, Yang Chu acted.
Yang Chu’s movements triggered the barking of dogs.
A dog that Wu Dayong’s mother had kept, which had been abandoned, began to bark.
In the dark, sharp and dazzling knife light flashed.
Yang Chu raised and lowered his knife, killing the dog that lunged at him.
"Damn dog, such a nuisance." Yang Chu spat contemptuously, his expression sullen.
On the freshly bloodied blade of the Slaying Blade, bright red blood flowed.
This tinged the night with a bloody scent.
Just as Yang Chu took a step, heading straight for Wu Dayong’s mother’s room, his expression suddenly tensed, alertly asking, "Who? Come out for me?"
A figure flashed, and a pair of cold eyes locked onto Yang Chu.
It was none other than Qiu Wen.
"Who are you? Why are you here? Why do you look at me with hostility?" Yang Chu was highly cautious, carefully probing.
He had guessed that the newcomer wasn’t friendly; the ability to approach him undetected was enough to show how exceptional they were.
In such circumstances, how could Yang Chu not be tense?
He couldn’t help but think to himself, "Could it be I’ve fallen into the enemy’s trap? But how is that possible? The enemy can’t predict the future."
The more he thought this, the stronger his sense of foreboding grew.
"A little clown hiding in the dark is not worthy of knowing my name." Qiu Wen said disdainfully.
"Bitch, you’re seeking death..." Yang Chu roared in anger, about to curse, when a cold wind swept in from behind.
It was Shen Yaqing’s killing move, a kick to the air, striking down.
In the nick of time, Yang Chu dodged with a humiliating fall, escaping the menacing attack.
However, Yang Chu’s heart raced, cold sweat pouring down his back.
Though he dodged the attack, the terrifying sense of dread was chilling.
"Who the hell are you?" Yang Chu asked, bewildered.
At this moment, his arrogance was gone, and he no longer had the courage to curse at Qiu Wen, only deep apprehension and fear.
"The one who will bring you to justice." A mocking voice sounded from behind Yang Chu.
Who else could it be but Zhang Kui?
At this moment, Yang Chu was exhausted, his full attention on Qiu Wen and Shen Yaqing, with his guard up high.
The sudden crisis and change hit Yang Chu like a lightning bolt.
Instantly, his soul seemed ready to escape his body.
