Chapter 1512: A Match Made in Heaven

Through brief contact and understanding, Li Tong was deeply impressed by Ye Fan.

Whether it was his insight or in-depth analysis, they both deeply shocked Li Tong.

"In your opinion, how suspicious is Liu Qianjin?" Li Tong brought up another suspect.

Usually, she would call Liu Qianjin "Uncle Liu," but now, she could only formally address her elder by name.

"I’ve looked into Liu Qianjin’s family situation, and it’s quite problematic. Liu Qianjin lost his wife in middle age, and his son, Liu Anping, is already an adult but doesn’t have a proper job. He just relies on his parents for support. Plus, he’s not very capable; he’s a person who aims high but lacks the ability. People like that are prone to problems. If Liu Qianjin is not a suspect, then the biggest issue lies with Liu Anping."

Ye Fan did not hold back and outlined a general idea based on the existing information.

"Uncle Liu’s wife died of illness, which was a big blow to him," Li Tong took the conversation further, reminiscing, "I knew Liu Anping as a child, but I haven’t seen him for years. I’ve also heard that Liu Anping has achieved nothing yet aims high, spending money extravagantly, almost draining Uncle Liu’s savings. Uncle Liu has been worn out because of this son."

"In such situations, it’s easy for many changes to occur," Ye Fan analyzed calmly. "If Liu Qianjin hasn’t fallen into trouble, then Liu Anping’s suspicion is magnified. Through Liu Anping, he could access confidential information held by Liu Qianjin. Liu Anping can indeed manage that, so the possibility of these secrets being leaked is definitely there."

So far, there are two suspects, but the first one that can be ruled out is Li Dingguo.

As for whether Liu Qianjin has issues or not, it really remains uncertain.

However, the situation with Liu Anping truly raises a lot of questions.

"Without solid evidence, any conjecture or suspicion lacks evidence for support," Li Tong said. "From now on, it seems we need to conduct a deeper investigation hoping to obtain solid evidence to prevent everyone from being on edge."

After discussing business and voicing all her doubts, Li Tong felt much relieved.

"I have a request and hope you will agree," Li Tong looked at Ye Fan and said slowly.

"What is it?" Ye Fan asked.

"My father has a heart condition and can’t take much stimulation, so please pay attention to your tone and manner when speaking, and try not to be too aggressive," Li Tong earnestly requested.

"Naturally," Ye Fan responded without hesitation.

"There’s another issue. Going to my house as my friend, my mom might overthink it. If she nags, please be patient and understanding," Li Tong hinted.

"It seems your parents are very concerned about your marriage," Ye Fan immediately understood the implication of Li Tong’s words and said, "Don’t worry, since I’m here for a purpose, I will handle everything else with proper measure."

"That’s good," Li Tong felt troubled just thinking about how her mother would push for marriage.

It’s easy to imagine that if she brought Ye Fan home, her mother would certainly misunderstand, followed by a series of questions.

She wasn’t too concerned about herself, but she feared that Ye Fan wouldn’t have patience, which would make the situation awkward.

"Should we bring something? We ought to follow visiting etiquette, right? To avoid embarrassment." Ye Fan considered thoroughly.

"That would just increase misunderstandings, there’s no need to bring anything, just us going is enough," Li Tong decisively stated.

In this matter, Ye Fan didn’t say much more and decided to go along with Li Tong’s decision.

Although Ye Fan felt it was a bit impolite, considering his identity and purpose, he didn’t worry too much about it.

The Li Family is an isolated two-story villa, not large but well-equipped, with a complete setup in the yard. The flowers and plants were fragrant, and the bonsai was arranged tastefully.

Li Tong brought Ye Fan back home, and upon entering the living room, Li’s mother saw her daughter and greeted her with a cheerful smile. Upon seeing Ye Fan, her eyes lit up.

Li’s mother almost seemed not to notice Li Tong and, with a beaming smile, said to Ye Fan, "Young man, welcome to our home."

"Auntie," Ye Fan greeted politely.

Li’s mother’s expression was entirely like that of a mother-in-law looking at a son-in-law. Even though Ye Fan was somewhat expecting it, he still found it a bit overwhelming.

"Come, come, young man, you must be tired. Please sit down." With great enthusiasm, Li’s mother led Ye Fan to the sofa.

"Thank you, Auntie," Ye Fan could only respond politely. One doesn’t hit a smiling face with their fist, especially in this situation facing an overly enthusiastic Li’s mother, Ye Fan tried to maintain his manners and politeness.

"The young man is poised and spirited. I had a good impression of you as soon as I saw you," Li’s mother was about to speak at length, when behind her, Li Tong complained, "Mom, your daughter’s right here! You’re so focused on the young man, have you even seen me here?"

"Shoo, shoo, this is none of your business. Bringing a friend home without telling me in advance is rude. If you’d told me earlier, I could have prepared more of my specialty dishes. By not saying anything and just bringing a friend home, aren’t you embarrassing your mom? How did I end up with a daughter like you? You really worry me," Li’s mother’s reprimand directed at Li Tong.

"Mom, don’t scare the guest," Li Tong was quite troubled as she knew her mother’s temperament all too well, which made things particularly difficult.

"I’m no tigress; why would I scare the guest?" Li’s mother sternly glanced at her daughter as a warning, then in a softened voice said, "Hurry and get the young man some tea."

"Mom, the kitchen is looking for you," Li Tong pointed towards the kitchen.

Li’s mother secretly thought things weren’t good. She was cooking! If the food got burned, wouldn’t that be a laughing matter?

Seeing smoke in the kitchen, she immediately got up and said to Ye Fan, "Young man, you sit tight. Auntie will chat with you in a bit."

"Auntie, go ahead," Ye Fan replied politely.

Li’s mother rushed to the kitchen and told Li Tong, "Quickly, bring out your dad’s good tea to serve our guest."

Li Tong responded reluctantly, then got out the tea and poured Ye Fan a cup of tea.

Placing the teacup in front of Ye Fan, Li Tong apologetically said, "Sorry for making you laugh."

"It’s human nature, quite understandable," Ye Fan murmured.

"If my mom says anything excessive, just take it as it is, don’t think too much," Li Tong advised.

"Auntie is very enthusiastic, it’s fine," Ye Fan replied generously, then asked, "By the way, why haven’t I seen your dad?"

"He’s in the study, no need to bother him, he’ll come out once the food is ready," Li Tong looked towards the study and muttered.

While Ye Fan and Li Tong were chatting, Li’s mother, with eyes full of smiles, occasionally sneaked glances at the two.

"They match, they really match, truly a pair made in heaven," Li’s mother’s eyes shone brightly.
