My Professions Have Too Much Personality

Chapter 546 - 302: Number 2 on the Holy List

’This... seems similar to my Spiritual Power?’ A thought flashed through Su Chen’s mind. His body trembled faintly, as if trying to break free by force.

Then, his body went limp, and a voice sounded in his ear: "Challenge failed."

Phew... Su Chen collapsed to the ground, deactivating his various abilities. He gasped for air, inwardly stunned.

’If he doesn’t use his Holy Profession, I have a fighting chance. But once he does, I have almost no ability to resist.’

’The gap isn’t that easy to close after all.’ Su Chen got up, not particularly bothered. He had anticipated this outcome before the fight.

There was not only an entire Tier separating them, but also a twenty-year age gap. On top of that, his opponent possessed a Holy Profession.

’Come to think of it, I actually have an advantage in a way.’ Su Chen suddenly realized something.

For most people, the various special professions that come before a Holy Profession aren’t all useful in combat. Some of them aren’t very powerful at all.

A true, complete transformation only happens at the moment of Melting a Holy Profession.

But for him, his various fused professions had allowed him to get a taste of a Holy Profession’s power.

’If I really want to fight him, I’ll probably need to Melt a Holy Profession. But to actually win, one Holy Profession might not be enough—especially when I’m fighting someone a Tier above me.’ Su Chen privately speculated. There was a huge difference between having an advantage and actually winning.

That was another demanding aspect of the Holy List: you had to definitively surpass the person ranked above you. Even fighting to a standstill wouldn’t change your rank.

’If that’s the case... what about Old Wei?’ Su Chen’s eyes glinted.

...

On Wei Zhenghong’s Floating Island, the group hadn’t dispersed after Su Chen’s departure. The atmosphere was still lively.

Chu Ling, however, felt a bit let down. "Master Qing must have just been talking with people from the other Sects. Why did he seek out Su Chen the moment he got back?"

"Probably something important," Zhao Ming said, his gaze a little distant. "I heard Su Chen was originally supposed to become Master Qing’s disciple, but by a twist of fate, he ended up becoming his junior instead."

"I heard that too. They say Master Qing has never quite gotten over it." Chu Ran’s interest was clearly piqued by the gossip, but before he could say another word, his Wristband began to vibrate violently.

"I wonder how the Ancient King managed to resolve the Flame Fire crisis..." Wei Zhenghong was musing over this when Shen Yi’an said coolly, "That isn’t something we need to concern ourselves with."

"You’re no fun at all," Wei Zhenghong grumbled, shooting him a sideways glance.

"Holy shit!" Just then, Chu Ran suddenly roared, staring at the virtual screen in his hand, his face a mask of shock. "What the fuck..."

He rubbed his eyes as if trying to make sure he was seeing correctly. The outburst immediately drew everyone’s attention. Wei Zhenghong frowned. "What’s with all the drama? What happened?"

"Old Su... Old Su..." Chu Ran swallowed hard. "He just defeated Ding Ze. He’s ranked tenth on the Holy List now."

"What?" Zhao Ming, Jiang Mufeng, and the others immediately crowded around, their expressions stunned.

Chu Ran muttered, "No wonder he could hold his liquor so well. He must have advanced to Tier Six."

The others came to the same realization, all inwardly marveling, ’That was fast.’

They were more astonished by the speed of Su Chen’s advancement. As for him defeating Ding Ze... considering he had previously defeated Qin Tianlin while being at a lower Tier, it wasn’t so hard to accept now that he was Tier Six.

Wei Zhenghong was also taken aback for a moment. "Well," he couldn’t help but say, "even more eyes will be on him now."

"As long as the Ancient King is around, he’ll be fine," Shen Yi’an said, his expression calm.

"True..." Wei Zhenghong’s mood brightened. "Everyone is pushing forward. I can’t fall behind. It’s about time I Melted my Holy Profession as well."

Shen Yi’an looked slightly surprised. "Your Sect found a new Spiritual Fire already?"

"It wasn’t that fast," Wei Zhenghong said, shaking his head. "My master stepped in and helped me contact a faction in the Dust Star Sea. They have the coordinates to a Spiritual Fire, but they haven’t produced anyone capable of Melting a Holy Profession in years."

"Just you wait, Old Shen." Wei Zhenghong’s fighting spirit flared. "You’ve been sitting in that top spot for far too long."

Shen Yi’an was speechless. "The Peak Star Conference is about to begin. Why are you so fixated on me?"

"Well, who else but..." Wei Zhenghong didn’t get to finish his sentence before another sharp gasp came from Chu Ran’s direction.

"Holy shit, holy shit... holy shit..."

Chu Ran looked completely dazed. Jiang Mufeng’s eyes were wide, his head practically buried in the virtual screen.

"Now what?" Wei Zhenghong sounded even more annoyed. "Chu Ran, how many times has our master told us to remain calm in the face of major events?"

"It’s not... It’s just..." Chu Ran lifted his head, staring at him with a bizarre expression.

It wasn’t just Chu Ran. Zhao Ming, Zhang Heng, Jiang Mufeng, and the others all turned to look at him with the same strange expression.

"Su Chen..." Zhao Ming began, struggling to get the words out. "He just defeated Old Wei. He’s now ranked second on the Holy List."

’Second?’

Wei Zhenghong’s scalp went numb and his pupils contracted. He shot to his feet, crushing the wine cup in his hand with a loud CRACK. Wine spilled all over the floor.

Shen Yi’an’s calm expression shattered. He quickly pulled up the Holy List rankings. Sure enough, second place now belonged to Su Chen, and Wei Zhenghong had been pushed down to third.

Wei Zhenghong scrambled to look as well. After confirming it was true, a storm erupted in his heart. For a moment, he was in a daze. ’Second place just like that? Isn’t this way too fast?’
