Chapter 609 - 332: Wei Zhenghong: Is This Really a Dream
Seeing that Su Chen was reluctant to discuss the matter, Qing Cang confirmed that he hadn’t been tainted by the Deceitful God’s Power and decided not to press him further. Shaking his head, he said, "It’s nothing that dramatic. The Profound Celestial Instrument is still getting a lot of attention, and the Royal Court has sent another Emperor’s Son over."
"Oh, right. Wei Zhenghong is back."
"Old Wei is finally back." Su Chen raised his eyebrow. "And what about the Lost Flame? Has Sun said anything else?"
Since he now expected to come into contact with the Lost Flame, he was paying closer attention to the matter.
Qing Cang considered this. "Things are progressing steadily. Next, aside from our Master, several Ancient Kings and the Hanhai Emperor will travel to the Lost Flame to draw the Flame."
"Draw the Flame? Without Master?" Su Chen’s eyes shot open in surprise. "Why isn’t Master going?"
Qing Cang explained helplessly, "Although the Flame Fire has shown signs of recovery, Master still can’t be away for an extended period. The round trip this time will likely take half a year."
"Half a year? Are they going to the location of the Flame Fire’s true source?" Su Chen was astonished. He knew, of course, that the Flame Fire issue hadn’t been completely resolved.
His confusion just now stemmed from his assumption that the Ancient Kings would contact the Lost Flame through the Nether Realm. In that case, the Bronze Ancient King naturally wouldn’t have to leave. He never expected they would be contacting the source itself.
"Yes," Qing Cang nodded. "To draw the Flame, they have no choice but to go to the location of Sun’s source. Also, Qin Yun will be going with them."
"Qin Yun?" Su Chen grew even more astonished. "What is he going to do there?"
Qing Cang explained, "According to Sun, Qin Yun will play a vital role in the process of drawing the Flame. As the only one to have ever come out of there alive, his presence is essential."
Su Chen’s brow furrowed. The only information he had was what Qing Cang had told him the first time; he had no idea what Sun had said since then.
After all, Qing Cang couldn’t possibly report every little thing to him.
He couldn’t help but ask, "With Qin Yun out from under Master’s watchful eye, what if he conspires with Sun? Or what if he gets in league with the other Ancient Kings? Wouldn’t that be a huge problem?"
"It would be," Qing Cang agreed, sounding just as helpless. "But there’s nothing to be done. Master can’t travel far, and this is an inevitable development. He can’t just keep Qin Yun here."
Su Chen’s gaze flickered. ’On the surface, there’s no way Qin Tianlin’s death could be linked to me. But there’s no guarantee the truth won’t come out one day, and that’s not even mentioning our past grievances.’
’If I had the chance, I’d definitely want to kill Qin Yun... but the man is a Morning Star Tier, after all.’
Thinking of this, he paused for a moment before asking, "What does Master really think of Qin Yun? If not for the Spirit of Sun serving as his Protective Talisman, how would he be handled?"
Qing Cang understood what Su Chen was implying. His eyes grew distant, and after a long moment of thought, he sighed. "Actually, Qin Yun wasn’t always like this. Two or three hundred years ago, our relationship was what you might even call amicable, and he was very respectful toward Master."
"A pity, but people eventually change."
Qing Cang seemed to be lost in a memory before continuing, "If it weren’t for this business with the Spirit of Sun, once the Flame Fire’s recovery was certain and it was time to assign blame, I’m ninety percent sure Master would have imprisoned him for the rest of his days. And there’s a greater than seventy percent chance he would have simply obliterated him."
"Over seventy percent?" Su Chen was stunned. He had figured that, given Qin Yun’s circumstances, death was completely off the table.
Qing Cang gave him a profound look. "Brothers turning on each other, fathers and sons becoming enemies... such things are hardly rare in the history of any great power. The dangers of being too soft-hearted have been proven time and time again."
"Besides, for our Sect, the true cornerstones are the Ancient Kings, not the Morning Stars. The number of Morning Stars only affects our temporary rise and fall. The existence of the Ancient Kings is, and always has been, the true cornerstone."
Su Chen understood. ’If even Qing Cang could deduce Qin Yun’s likely fate, then of course Qin Yun himself could. There’s no way he wouldn’t be looking for a chance to survive.’
’It’s best... not to let Qin Yun out of the Bronze Ancient King’s sight.’ With this in mind, he asked, "How long until the Ancient Kings depart?"

"There should still be some time, I think." Qing Cang didn’t sound too sure himself.
