My Professions Have Too Much Personality

Su Chen was in a good mood, but he didn’t forget to make a promise. He thought, ’Don’t worry, Great Venerable. Those Fog Ashes wreathed in Flame Fire will be yours sooner or later. Let’s work together for our mutual benefit—a win-win.’

"Su Xingzhong..."

On the main road, someone suddenly called out to him, standing respectfully by the roadside and waiting for him to approach.

Su Chen nodded in acknowledgment and continued toward the port.

He pondered as he walked. This fused Main Profession couldn’t be as simple as just mashing professions together. Taking it would surely have other effects on him as well.

His mind wandered. A fused Main Profession could bring a host of problems. After advancing, how would he even develop the profession’s progression?

Would it still be split into a Body Refining Technique and a Meditation Technique, just like before?

Would it affect his advancement to Tier Seven?

The Great Venerable obviously couldn’t explain these things to him. He could only wait until after his advancement to find out for himself.

He boarded the Flying Device. Before he even got close to the Floating Island, he saw that someone was already waiting for him with a logistics transport ship.

As he got closer, Su Chen recognized the man. He was stout, and Su Chen had seen him before—it was Ding Fan, one of the logistics Stewards.

This was the man who had delivered his rewards after he first got on the list.

"Ah, Su Xingzhong, you’re finally back!" The moment Su Chen stepped out of the Flying Device, Ding Fan greeted him enthusiastically.

"Sorry to trouble you, Steward Ding," Su Chen said politely.

"Not at all," Ding Fan replied quickly, leading him toward the transport ship to inspect the rewards.

He had shot up more than a hundred places in the rankings. Aside from the Creation Copper Heart and the Holy Cauldron Sect’s Potions, which he was most interested in, there were also plenty of conventional rewards.

These included various materials, the right to order Customized Weapons, and rare meats, but none of them were essential.

After a quick inventory, Su Chen decided not to have the items converted into star coins this time. He would keep them to use himself or to give as gifts.

Ding Fan directed his subordinates to unload everything, then leaned in and said in a low voice:

"However, there is one thing I must inform you of, Sir. Since you are the first Tier Five to break into the top 50 in recent years, the Holy Cauldron Sect Potions we have in stock do not include any for Tier Five. We’ll have to place a special order, so I’m afraid you’ll have to wait a while."

"I have to wait?" Su Chen’s brow furrowed slightly, but it made sense. Never mind the top 50; even the top 200 was basically filled with Tier Six Professionals.

No one else could have anticipated this situation.

"How long will it take?" Su Chen asked.

Ding Fan explained, "We’ve been trading with the Holy Cauldron Sect for many years and have a dedicated supply channel. If all goes well, half a month at most."

"Half a month." Su Chen’s expression relaxed considerably. That was acceptable.

However, Steward Ding added mysteriously, "But... I reached out to a few friends and secretly contacted some of the major families. I managed to scrape together about fifteen vials of Thunder Juice Potion."

As he spoke, Steward Ding produced a silver-white metal case from behind his back as if by magic and handed it over.

Su Chen raised an eyebrow, genuinely surprised. The Holy Cauldron Sect Potions supplied to the top 50 on the Holy List were free of charge; there was no extra cost.

However, to cultivate their own scions, the major families couldn’t possibly wait until they broke into the top 50. They would certainly find their own channels for long-term purchases.

But this stuff was definitely not cheap. Last time Wei Zhenghong came to him for help, he had only brought ten vials.

’For this Steward Ding to produce fifteen vials in one go... The kickbacks for managing logistics must be enormous.’

’But... what does this guy want my help with?’ The thought flashed through Su Chen’s mind, but his expression remained impassive. "Steward Ding, this is too generous."

Ding Fan waved his hands dismissively. "Nonsense, we’re all on the same side here. You, especially, are a Star Seed of the Sect. Besides, I’m not just giving these to you. It’s more of a loan..."

"When the Potions from the regular channels arrive, we’ll simply deduct these from your share and return them."

"Oh, I see." Su Chen finally understood. It was fine as long as it wasn’t an outright gift.

A gift of this magnitude was something he wouldn’t dare to accept. But if it was just an advance on what he was owed, that was a different story. It would just be a small favor.

"In that case, thank you, Steward Ding." Su Chen stopped being polite and accepted the case.

Seeing Su Chen accept it, Steward Ding’s smile grew even more enthusiastic. "Don’t mention it! I’ll take my leave now. Please, don’t trouble yourself with seeing me off."

"Steward Ding..." Su Chen called out again, asking about the Celestial Forged Object.

"Ah, a Celestial Forged Object." Hearing this, Steward Ding rubbed his chin. "That’s a special type of material. It only forms in a natural environment through a unique combination of circumstances."

After his explanation, Su Chen came to understand that certain items born in extreme environments didn’t necessarily count as Celestial Forged Objects.

They had to at least have a distinct shape, like a blade, a sword, or a hammer.

Steward Ding concluded, "They are all excellent materials for forging weapons. Though rare, finding one isn’t a huge problem for our Sect. I’ll keep an eye out for you."

Su Chen thanked him again and watched him board the ship and slowly depart. Only then did he carry the case back to his training room.

He opened it. Lying on black velvet were rows of vials filled with a silver-blue liquid. This was the Thunder Juice Potion. Unlike the Crimson Sun Potion Wei Zhenghong had given him, this one was focused on the Thunder Element.

For him, however, either would be beneficial.

He took out a vial and swirled it before his eyes. The liquid thunder inside flowed without rest, a beautiful sight to behold.

Su Chen mused for a moment. ’The purification of the Fog Ashes... Black Tuo must have sensed it. That old fox is probably getting antsy.’

’Thinking about it, not much time has passed since our last contact. I’ll wait a bit longer. Otherwise, I’ll seem a little too capable. Besides, it’s a good chance to keep him on the hook.’
