Chapter 66: Leveling up
"I guess you’ll have to cause trouble without the upgrade for now."
The Blood Warlock stepped forward.
It was a tall undead humanoid dressed in dark robes.
A black aura constantly surrounded its body.
In its hand was a red skull-shaped staff with a glowing gem embedded inside it.
Beside it, the Steel Slime transformed into a large metallic slime.
Its round body rolled across the rooftop before it jumped down toward the streets below.
Kaiser remained on the rooftop.
"Go."
"Kill as many demons as you can."
The Blood Warlock immediately followed the Steel Slime.
The two rushed into the streets and began attacking the surrounding monsters.
Kaiser stood on the rooftop and watched them quietly.
He wasn’t worried about their safety.
His undead were strong enough to handle most of the monsters in this dungeon.
Soon, notifications began appearing in front of him.
[You have gained enough EXP to level up.]
[You have gained 30 Free Attribute Points.]
[10 Attribute Points were obtained from normal level progression.]
[20 Attribute Points were obtained from your Death Genesis class.]
[You have reached Level 22.]
Kaiser looked at the notifications.
"Not bad."
"At this rate, I should be able to level up pretty quickly here."
"And my class gives me an extra 20 Free Stat Points. Not bad."
Normally, everyone received 10 Free Stat Points whenever they leveled up. Their classes could then provide additional points depending on the class rank.
"The highest I’ve heard of is a class that gives 10 extra Stat Points."
"But I’m getting 20."
"An EX-Rank class really is something else."
Kaiser nodded with satisfaction and continued watching the battle.
The fighting continued for several hours.
With the Steel Slime doing most of the work, Kaiser was able to gain levels at a rapid pace.
The Steel Slime rolled through the streets like a massive metal ball, using its spikes to crush and impale the demons in its path.
Before long, Kaiser had reached Level 41.
The Steel Slime had reached Level 38, while the Blood Warlock was now Level 32.
Kaiser opened his Cosmic Sheet and looked over his current status.

He immediately assigned all 600 points to Intelligence.
His Intelligence increased from 210 to 810.
His maximum Mana also increased to 8,100.
"I hope this is enough to upgrade them."
Kaiser looked toward the battlefield.
"Steel Slime, keep killing."
"Blood Warlock, come back."
The Blood Warlock immediately stopped fighting and floated back toward Kaiser.
It was a skeletal undead dressed in dark robes.
A black aura surrounded its body, while it held a red skull-shaped staff with a glowing gem embedded inside it.
Kaiser looked at the Blood Warlock.
"Let’s see if my increased Mana is enough."
He raised his hand.
"Reconstruction."
Golden light immediately emerged from his palm and surrounded the Blood Warlock.
The energy flowed through its undead body and began reconstructing its entire existence.
The Blood Warlock’s aura rapidly increased.
Its bones became stronger.
Its robes transformed into darker and more elaborate garments.
The red gem on its staff began glowing intensely.
Several seconds later, the golden light disappeared.
[Reconstruction has been activated.]

[Analyzing target...]
[Reconstructing...]
[Reconstruction complete.]
[Blood Warlock has evolved.]

Kaiser immediately opened its new status.

The Grand Blood Warlock slowly raised its staff.
The blood-like aura surrounding its body became much denser than before.
Kaiser nodded in satisfaction.
"Good."
"Now you’re much more useful."
He looked toward the distant Steel Slime, which was still rolling through the streets and destroying demons.
Kaiser smiled.
"Now, once my Mana replenishes, I’ll upgrade you too."
He looked at the newly evolved Grand Blood Warlock.
Its appearance had changed considerably.
It looked much more regal than before. Its bones were now a deep crimson color instead of the blood-red shade they had previously possessed.
Even its staff had transformed.
The old red skull staff had evolved into an Epic-Rank weapon, with several dark runes covering its surface.
Kaiser nodded in satisfaction.
"Well, it did use up almost 90% of my Mana."
He looked at his remaining Mana before walking back toward the ruined building where they had taken shelter.
Inside the room, Marina was already waiting.
She noticed Kaiser and smiled.
"Here, Master. You can use my lap as a pillow."
Kaiser nodded.
"I’m not going to say no to that."
He walked over and rested his head on her lap.
Marina gently adjusted her position while Kaiser closed his eyes and began recovering his Mana.
Meanwhile, the battle outside continued.
The newly evolved Grand Blood Warlock had already joined the fight.
Its power was completely different from before.
As an Epic-Rank undead, its Mana capacity had increased greatly, and its Blood Magic had become much more powerful.
It raised its staff.
"Bloodstorm."
A massive storm of blood-colored energy spread across the streets.
Dozens of demonic creatures were caught inside it.
Before they could escape, another spell followed.
"Grand Blood Lance."
Several enormous blood lances appeared in the air and shot toward the demons.
Boom!
Boom!
Boom!
The attacks tore through the monsters one after another.
The Grand Blood Warlock continued casting devastating spells without stopping.
Because it was an undead skeleton, it didn’t need to worry about exhaustion in the same way as a living mage.
