Chapter 47: Fusion Spells
Kaiser nodded once again.
"I understand."
He walked past the reception desk and entered the library.
Rows upon rows of bookshelves stretched in every direction.
Each section was clearly labeled.
Death Magic.
Soul Magic.
Necromancy.
Curses.
Plague Arts.
Beast Taming.
Wraith Summoning.
Spectral Magic.
Mana Theory.
History of the Death Church.
Kaiser slowly looked around.
"So many books..."
His eyes soon stopped on one particular section.
Spectral Magic.
Without hesitation, he walked toward it.
Several thick books and spell records were neatly arranged on the shelves.
Some explained the basic principles behind spectral spells.
Most of the books on the shelves contained advanced theories, spell variations, and applications.
However, Kaiser had already decided what he wanted.
He wasn’t here to browse.
He had come for two specific Tier 1 spells.
The first was Specter.
It was a simple Soul Magic spell that summoned a Specter capable of fighting independently.
On its own, a Specter wasn’t particularly powerful.
However, when combined with Spectral Hands and Spectral Blades, it completed the Fusion Spell, allowing Kaiser to create fully formed Spectral Knights instead of the incomplete versions he had used against Ryder.
More importantly, the spell wasn’t limited to a single Specter.
At perfect mastery, Specter could summon up to five Specters simultaneously.
That meant Kaiser could eventually create up to five Spectral Knights at once.
Even after doing so, he would still have several Spectral Hands and Spectral Blades left over for other purposes.
The second spell he wanted was Ghost Armor.
It was a Tier 1 support spell that covered a target in armor made from Soul Mana.
The spell could be cast not only on its user but also on summoned ghosts and spectral beings.
For Kaiser, it was the perfect support spell.
He could use it to strengthen his Spectral Knights, making them far more durable in battle.
He could also cast it on Rite, greatly increasing his familiar’s defense while allowing it to continue attacking from the sky.
Both spells fit his fighting style perfectly.
One increased his offensive power.
The other greatly improved the survivability of his summons.
The only problem was his remaining Spell Slots.
Kaiser only had three Spell Slots left.
However, every Tier 1 spell required two Spell Slots.
That meant he could only learn one of the two spells for now.
He stood quietly in front of the shelves, thinking for a few minutes.
Finally, he made his decision.
"I’ll take Specter."
Ghost Armor was useful.
But Specter would increase his overall strength far more.
Once he mastered it, he would be able to summon multiple Specters and complete the Spectral Knight Fusion Spell.
That was a much greater improvement than simply making his existing summons tougher.
After confirming his choice, Kaiser still had one Tier Spell Slot remaining.
Although it wasn’t enough to learn another Tier 1 spell, he could still choose a one-slot Tier 0 spell.
He began browsing the shelves again.
A few minutes later, a thin black spell book caught his attention.
Plague Grease.
It belonged to the Plague Oath.
Kaiser opened the book and quickly read its description.
The spell coated a weapon with a thick layer of poisonous Soul Mana.
Anyone injured by that weapon would immediately be infected with a magical plague.
The plague continuously weakened the target while spreading poison and disease through their body.
The effect lasted until the Mana was removed or the spell naturally expired.
Kaiser nodded.
"This will work."
His Spectral Knights all fought with swords.
If he coated their weapons with Plague Grease before battle, every strike would not only deal physical damage but also infect the enemy with a magical plague.
Even a small cut would become dangerous over time.
Next, Kaiser began looking through the library’s collection of Arts.
Since he was free to read as many books as he wanted inside the library, he decided to study the Arts related to his current spells.
His current spells were:
Spectral Hands
Spectral Blades
Undead Creation
Familiar Call
Specter
Plague Grease
However, he still preferred focusing on his mastered spells first.
After all, Arts could only be learned after completely mastering the spell they were based on.
At the moment, aside from his newly acquired Specter and Plague Grease, all of his spells had reached perfect mastery.
That meant he could begin learning Arts related to them immediately.
Kaiser walked into the section dedicated to Arts.
Unlike the spell records, the books here didn’t teach complete spells.
Instead, they explained advanced ways of using already-mastered spells.
He stopped in front of the shelf labeled Spectral Magic Arts.
The first book he picked up was one he already recognized.
Spectral Slash.
Kaiser smiled faintly.
"So this is the Art Ryder used."
He flipped through the pages.
The Art explained how to compress the power of multiple Spectral Blades into a single ranged slash.
It greatly increased attack power while consuming less Mana than repeatedly casting the spell.
He memorized the theory before returning the book to the shelf.
The next one was Spectral Arc.
It released a circular wave of spectral energy around the user, making it effective against multiple opponents.
The third book was Spectral Flash.
It used Spectral Mana to propel the user forward at incredible speed.
"It isn’t teleportation."
"It just moves the body extremely fast."
The fourth was Spectral Dance.
A continuous sword Art that focused on smooth and efficient attacks with almost no wasted movement.
Kaiser nodded.
"No wonder Ryder’s swordsmanship was so efficient."
He continued searching.
Soon, he reached another section.
Undead Arts.
The first book was called Bone Reinforcement.
It strengthened the bodies of undead servants, making them tougher in battle.
Another book described Soul Infusion, an Art that temporarily increased an undead’s speed and strength by pouring extra Soul Mana into it.
There were also several Arts designed specifically for commanders who controlled large armies of undead.
Kaiser read through them one by one.
Finally, he arrived at the Familiar Arts section.
One book immediately caught his attention.
Shared Vision.
The Art allowed a master to see directly through their familiar’s eyes without relying solely on their spiritual connection.
Another was Mana Link.
It allowed a familiar and its master to temporarily share Mana during battle.
Kaiser paused for a moment.
"These could be useful later."
He picked up several books and carried them to a nearby table.
There was no need to rush.
