After a long holiday, I had a peaceful and full time doing my weapon shop job as usual.

I'm always busy working as an arms dealer, but I feel pretty comfortable compared to the official duties of the Knights because I don't have to pay attention to demonic raids and rock wall collapses, or shrink my nerves from negotiating with the Demons.

That's how I shop today, and Alexia, who had told me to go home first, glimpsed her face.

"Mr. Luke, can I have a moment after this? I won't take up too much trouble."

"What the hell... Oh, about the example"

"It's an example matter. The unionists brought one prototype earlier, so I thought you might like to try it lightly."

I knew Alexia's case as soon as I saw the luggage I had raised in my hand.

That case, which is the size of an instrument or something, was the same container that I used when I brought my prosthetic arm.

Then I can also imagine what Alexia brought in.

The development of a weapon-built prosthetic limb - ordered by the Green Hollow Mechanical Engineers Union from multiple Knights - has deliberately turned back to request testing of its prototype.

"And you're early. It was yesterday today, wasn't it?

"Luke took the story to you yesterday, but the story itself was given to Luke while you were diving into the fourth tier, and everyone seemed to have been working on the idea only until then."

That makes sense and completes the prototype quickly.

The story I brought to my attention was only a request for cooperation as a test person for the prototype, and the work itself started long ago.

If I refuse to cooperate, there's no point in waiting for my response before I start working on a prototype, because it only takes more time to look after the other collaborators.

"Sorry, Garnett. I'm gonna go back a little bit."

"Oops. The rest of it's about door-tight, so I'll finish it right off."

Leave the shopping task to Garnett and take Alexia to the backyard.

Even when it comes to the backyard, it's a narrow land between the building and the back mountain, but it's not facing a road with a crowd, so it's just the right space to try the weapons you plan to line up in stores.

"Just now, could you replace the prosthetic hand with this"

"Should we just [analyze] or 'right eye' to see how it works?

"Hmm...... because of that, let's put the rattlesnake behind us. Be surprised to actually use it."

Alexia took a prosthetic limb out of the case she put on the ground and handed it to me.

It still seemed like there were two more in the case, so today's test would seem to be for three prototypes.

Just attach the first prosthetic limb to your body and get instructions from Alexia on how to use the implanted weapon.

"Mmm, that's pretty heavy. Especially since the weight is skewed from the elbow..."

"First is the white soldier warfare gear inspired by Agate Lamb's doll. There is a switch on the inside of your wrist, so operate with your left hand while bending your right wrist inward. Oh, don't point the outside of your right arm at your body because it's dangerous."

"I can cure accidents because I have [repair], but I'm sorry it hurts...... Yikes!

Immediately after operating the switch as instructed, a double-edged sword body popped out of the outside of the wrist with the sound of strip (spring) tricks operating inside from the elbow to the wrist.

It is a diagram as if the entire right arm were patterned, passing from the outside of the wrist over the back of the hand, with the tip of the sword stretching straight towards the tip of the fist.

"Ooh... isn't that a real sword? I was wondering if I could use a knife or something."

"The prosthetic limb refers to the Agate Lamb doll. Too advanced a weapon, like the original, is difficult, but if the volume permits, I can plant most of it."

Wave your right arm as you wish for the first time, making sure you feel comfortable using the sword that was planted in your arm.

"... that sounds odd because you have a different angle than a normal sword"

"Do you have no choice but to say all this? Think of it as a weapon for the new axle, and you'll have to get used to it. It's a premise that veteran knights use, and maybe that's fine."

"Can you also make it a little lighter and shorter and make it a premise to spike with the feeling of punching with your fists?

"Sounds interesting, that. Shall I add the option to the selection formula?"

Alexia quickly writes in her notebook all the comments I can think of that I missed.

If they show me how serious I am about this, I want to work with them as much as I can.

Of course, to the extent that it does not interfere with other work.

"What bothers me is that when you put out your sword, the weight biases before your hands... it might be beneficial to gain momentum when you shake it. And it's heavier than a normal arm when it's stored."

"Right...... do you call all this structural convenience? By the way, one of the remaining two is another version of how the sword pops up differently. You just popped straight out, but this is how it pops out with a half-circle."

"... snug, I didn't expect the day to come to try a weapon similar to the Ripper of the Night (Night Ripper). I don't know what's going to happen in the world."

Squeeze and groan as you look down at the protruding prosthetic limb of the blade.

"Next please give me this prototype"

"All right. Here's the thing...... Whoa, a planted crossbow!

The second prototype was a built-in crossbow with the upper surface of the prosthesis opening left and right like a door and a foldable bow unfolding.

"This guy is amazing too. What am I supposed to do with the loading?

"It also has a built-in cocking lever, so use that"

"The lever... is this it? You wake this guy up and then you knock him over here... and he's stuck! You're pretty tight just hooking up for one shot!

"It just didn't seem to fit as far as the auxiliary loading device. The area needs to be improved, so please do your best today."

"Don't be impotent! My left arm is not my arm!

- That's how Alexia and I worked our way out to test the prototype until the sun completely went down.

It is a repetition of the task of using the armor to be processed as inventory as a target and wielding weapons from various angles to ascertain power and strength.

Of course, taking data on loads and component strengths to each site is a top priority.

Even if it is corrupted, it can be restored in [Repair] to continue the test, so you can gather data without worrying about breaking it.

He also gets Garnett, who rendezvous along the way, to deal with him and wash out the problems with the prototype from one end.

At present, the performance of the prototype is not yet at a level that can be thrown into action.

Problems pile up when rough use causes mechanical loads to break down to the prosthetic hand, or when stored with the sword body distorted, interferes with the internal structure to inhibit finger movement.

The fact that user-friendliness as an arm is falling because of the weight of the implanted weapon, as well as the loss of strength because of the complex structure, would be elements that can never be ignored.

But this is the prototype.

Because it is a process to find the problems at the moment and accelerate future development, we should not hesitate to use them down and return meaningful reports to them.

"Well, it's been setting in the sun, and let's keep it this way?

To be honest, this was not a good time.

It was as if I was having a noisy day as a senior junior adventurer, and somehow I remembered the nostalgia.

"Thank you for today. So you tried it for the White Soldiers and Ranged Fights, do you have any overall thoughts or anything?

"Right..."

Think seriously about the answers to the questions you received when you broke up.

It may be a known problem for the mechanical technicians, but it should never be meaningless to point it out from the mouth of a third party.

Because it is not a matter that only people in the inner circle feel is a problem, but that objectively it should be improved as a matter of priority.

"... after all, when it comes to planting it in your arms, you have to perform less than a normal weapon. The sword has to be short and light, and the crossbow is smaller, less powerful and less equipped with complex features..."

"That's right. Even if we improve with technological development, if we build normal weapons with the same technology, we won't end up narrowing the difference."

Compared to pure performance alone, planted weapons are no match for normal weapons.

All this is a fundamental drawback that there is nothing we can do about it.

"But even on that basis, portability and the high degree of concealment are advantages that cannot be ignored. It's not always a success to push off a normal weapon and become the main force. As a mechanical engineer, I have great potential in this direction."

Alexia's expression, speaking so, was filled with enthusiasm and willingness overflowing from the bottom of her heart.

The reason this guy originally became an adventurer was not only because he said he would get rare materials himself, but also because he had a desire to test prototype weapons in action.

I'm sure for Alexia, the Green Hollow and the 'Ark of Elements' today is a very ideal environment - and that made me wonderfully happy to this point.
